Traffic Accident on Hwy 12 near Hwy 26

   CHP reports that Eugene E. Hughes (43) of Valley Springs, was driving his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle while intoxicated on westbound Hwy 12 at 3:46 PM on September 3, 2012, behind several vehicles including a 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Ana Hernandez-Baron,
who was also traveling westbound.

   Hernandez-Baron was turning into a driveway south of the roadway edge, and slowed her Chevy to a stop and began to turn to the left.

    Hughes turned left, over the solid double yellow lines in an attempt to pass the slower vehicles. He observed that the Chevy was turning and he swerved his Harley back to the left where the left side of the motorcycle impacted the right rear corner of the Chevy.

   Wasson and the motorcycle continued off of the north road edge where it overturned, ejecting Wasson form the Harley.

    Wasson sustained major injuries and was flown from the scene. to Modesto Memorial Medical Center. He was arrested for DUI and released to the hospital for treatment.
