John Boehner, current Speaker of the House of Representatives is apparently postponing, hedging, delaying or whatever you want to call it, on the fiscal cliff negotiations because his re-election to the Speaker of the House position isn't until January 3, 2013.
After that date, he can't be threatened or held hostage by the tea party right for fear of being thrown out as speaker. That is probably when a deal will happen.
