Dear Sierra Sentinel Editor:
A CUSD Performing Arts Center? Where Past and Present Collide. What will the remaining bond money be used for; a performing arts center, or....? This very question will be raised at the next school board meeting on May 15. (the topic was added to the agenda on May 9th as an addendum).
On May 9, convicted murderer Francisco Rubio, 67, was denied release on parole and will remain in prison for now. This was his 5th time before the parole board. District Attorney Barbara Yook appeared at the hearing in Vacaville to oppose Rubio's release and argue that he still poses an unreasonable risk to public safety. The parole board ultimately agreed and denied his release for another 3 years.
Sierra Sentinel Editor:
The last two weeks there has been activity at a new building in Valley Springs. When I asked someone what was going on they said the new American Legion building was being worked on. However, when I inquired further someone else said it was a building only for the veterans.
Returning to the Angels Camp City Council agenda for next Tuesday, May 15, at 6 PM is the new ordinance for burn permits, which didn't pass the City Council the last time it came up for a vote. They are bringing it back with some changes, and insisting that this must be the new law of the land in Angels Camp.
