Another "Holier Than Thou" Speech From Wilensky

At the end of the Board of Supervisor meeting,  Supervisor Steve Wilensky again went on a long "historic" rant about how wonderful his family history is, and how he is just as patriotic as anyone in this room, ending with saying "shame on you" to anyone who dares to criticize him.

Tofanelli Rants Against Public Again

Code Enforcement at the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors presented the County's case to put on the ballot a tax of $1 per every registered vehicle a year in order to tow unidentifiable abandoned vehicles during the year. Supervisor Callaway especially praised the program.

Bonnie Newman, during Public Comments at the Board of Supervisors today, stated that she killed her first rattlesnake of the year where she lives in Double Springs just the other day. She warns that this is the earliest she has seen them in a very long time.

Mental Health Makes 7 Minute Public Comment

While Gary Tofanelli cuts off most people while trying to finish a sentence during Public Comments today, cutting them off a exactly three minutes, but he allowed the woman from Mental Health, who was praising the Board of Supervisors for giving them money, go on for nearly 7 minutes.
Funny that this woman doesn't thank the taxpayers for her money. They made it possible, not the Board of Supervisors! Their priorities are so screwed up at many county offices. POLITICS!

Caldwell Says Tofanelli Never Returns Calls

Gary Caldwell, of District 1, spoke during public comments today, criticizing Gary Tofanelli for never returning his calls. According to Caldwell, this is one of the main reasons why he couldn't get 50% of the voters to support him.

$80 Permit Fee to Install Water Heater

We hear a lot of complaints about all the fees and taxes the Board of Supervisors are passing to make us pay and pay and pay to make up for the losses they created by destroying our economy and therefore lowering  property values.
NOW HEAR THIS!!  Did you know that it costs $80 in Calaveras County to get permission from the County to install a HOT WATER HEATER!  Does this bother you? Then vote against any and all incumbents in November. How do they get away with this?
What do our readers think about this?

Kevin "Shane" Gause

Shane was born on 8/19/93 in San Clemente and passed away 6/06/12 at the age of 28.
Shane captured the hearts of many with his generosity and loving spirit. He was a very "special young man" and will be missed by all.

Taxes, fees, more taxes, more fees

Supervisors raise more fees
and taxes on our small businesses
Nothing could be closer to the truth than the person who wrote that Calaveras County cannot survive without raising all of its fees and taxes, now that no one wants to buy property and build a house here anymore.
The Planning Department has nothing to do, so they have been spending their time making up new fees and taxes for us, the most recent being a SIGN TAX. A sign tax for businesses, but not for certain Supervisors supporters.

Word Has Spread /Calaveras Sheriff Burglarized

Word has spread that even the Sheriff himself has been burglarized. Was it someone living close enough to know when he is gone, even a neighbor?
Many we've spoken with say that now he knows how we, the public feel.

Op-Ed: Transient Occupancy Tax

     Hello James DeHaven:
I read your article of June 8, 2012 "Campaign for lodging tax shapes up". I find it interesting that once again comments regarding this tax emphasize the positive and omit and/or misrepresent the negative.
And please don't get me wrong. Every one of the recipients of the proposed tax increase is a worthy cause deserving of "everyone's" support.
I'm not suggesting that you purposely omitted one side of the argument; however I suspect that no one has presented it to you.
for EXAMPLE, Pat McGreevy states that"  He doesn't undertand the opposition. That it's just a matter of explaining a "win-win" situation.
