Error in Saddle Queen Title

     Due to a mix-up in the judges' scores, there are actually two girls sharing the title of 2012 Calaveras Saddle Queen of the Calaveras County Fair.

Sandra Leetham Family Fundraiser

   Many of you have heard of the Leetham family's great loss. For those of you who haven't...Sandra Leetham was a fantastic mother, dedicated grandmother, and an active member in our community. She recently lost her brief battle with cancer. A fundraiser to support the family will be held at Chili's in Stockton on Wednesday, June 27, 2012.

Valley Springs Man Arrested for Forgery

     Charles Thomas White of Valley Springs, was arrested on June 15, 2012, for Forgery, false checks, and Possession of a controlled substance, according to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office. The arrest took place at 15069 Hwy 26 in Glencoe.

Sierra Sentinel Receives Death Threats

    Ordinarily, a newspaper receives a variety of threats from mentally unstable people, and they are tossed. Occasionally, however, one comes through that needs to be investigated. One such e-mail has been received and will be traced so that prosecution can proceed.

Arrest in Copperopolis for Violation of Domestic Violence Order

    Danna Lee Goatley, of Tulare, was arrested at 3913 Arrowhead Street in Copperopolis for 273.6(A) P.C. Violation of a domestic violence order and 647 (F) P.C. Disorderly conduct due to alcohol, both misdemeanors on June 15, 2012.    No other details are available at this time.

San Andreas "Music in the Parks"

    The Calaveras Arts Council has just announced that on July 11, 2012,  Patrice Pike returns to the "Music in the Parks" series in Turner Park, San Andreas.
     A singer/songwriter from Austin, Texas, Pike  takes her vacations in this area, as well as performing here.
