Calaveras News: Truck High Centered in San Andreas

    CHP reports that a box truck is wedged on the concrete center divide and needs a tow truck to free on July 9, 2012 at around 2:20 PM.
    The location is Hwy 49 and Bellview.   A tow truck in enroute to the scene.

New Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff Position on Agenda Again

     Againon the agenda of the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting, tomorrow, July 10, 2012, is funding one more deputy sheriff position with funds from other places.
    This item needs a 4/5 vote of the Board to pass, and missed it last Thursday when the Board held a Special meeting called by Gary Tofanelli.
   At that meeting, Darren Spellman was absent and Tom Tryon voted against it, so it didn't pass.  Those we've spoken with feel that Spellman would have voted for it.

CalFire Reports Fire in Arnold

     CalFire responded to a woodland vegetation fire on El Dorado in Arnold yesterday, Sunday, July 8, 2012 around 11:30 AM.
    Ebbetts Pass Fire along with CalFire suppressed and quickly extinguished the fire. The cause is still to be determined.

Calaveras News: San Andreas Resident Arrested

    Michael Jay Hix, 25, of San Andreas was arrested at the Diamond Place Apartments on July 8, 2012 for Violation of Parole, a felony, Contempt/disobeying a court order, a misdemeanor and Grand Theft from a person, a felony.
   Calaveras Sheriff's deputies booked Hix into the Calaveras County Jail.

Man Arrested for Arranging a Meeting With the Intent...

    A San Andreas man, George Alexander Jones, 20, was arrested for Arranging a meeting with a minor ( a misdemeanor) and Contacting a minor with the intent of having sex (a felony).
    Calaveras Chounty Sheriff's Deputies arrested Jones on Hwy 49 in San Andreas.

Angels Camp Resident Arrested in Copperopolis

   Heather Kathleen Vannatta, (42) of Angels Camp, was arrested for battery and vandalism on Arrowhead St. in Copperopolis, according to a Calaveras County Sheriff's report.
   Vannatta was cited and released.
    

Burglary on Linebaugh Rd. in Arnold

   Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputies were called for a burglary  at a commercial business reported on Linebaugh Rd in Arnold. There were no suspects at the scene by the time the burglary was discovered.
   Sheriff's Deputies took the report and will follow up on any leads.

Birds Inside Valley Springs Residence

      Officers responded to a call of a shattered window on Redman Road in Valley Springs, with the report that birds got inside the residence.

   The log doesn't state what the deputy did about the birds.

Man Stealing Wood Reported in Arnold

    A Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputy was called for a report of a man seen stealing wood from a Blagen Road/ Hwy 4/Dunbar Rd location in Arnold yesterday, July 8, 2012.

      No one was arrested at the time. 

Calaveras News: Report of Gunfire in Arnold

   A Calaveras Sheriff's Deputy was called out for a report of gunfire on Evergreen in Arnold yesterday, July 9, 2012. No one was cited or arrested.

CHP Gets Report of San Andreas Accident

   An accident on St. Charles St. at Main in Sand Andreas involving two vehicles was reported at 8 AM Monday, July 9, 2012.   No injuries were reported.

   Both vehicles had to be towed.

Accident on Campo Seco Turnpike

   A collision between a gray Subaru Forester and a Silver Ford cause CHP to be called at Hwy 26 and the Camp Seco Turnpike. at around 7:50 AM on Monday, July 9, 2012.
    At this time, it is unclear if there are injuries.

LAFCO Meets July 16, 2012

     The Local Area Formation Commission (LAFCO) meets on July 16, 2012 at 6 PM in the Board of Supervisors Chambers in San Andreas.
