New Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff Position on Agenda Again
Againon the agenda of the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting, tomorrow, July 10, 2012, is funding one more deputy sheriff position with funds from other places.
This item needs a 4/5 vote of the Board to pass, and missed it last Thursday when the Board held a Special meeting called by Gary Tofanelli.
At that meeting, Darren Spellman was absent and Tom Tryon voted against it, so it didn't pass. Those we've spoken with feel that Spellman would have voted for it.

CalFire responded to a woodland vegetation fire on El Dorado in Arnold yesterday, Sunday, July 8, 2012 around 11:30 AM.
Ebbetts Pass Fire along with CalFire suppressed and quickly extinguished the fire. The cause is still to be determined.

Michael Jay Hix, 25, of San Andreas was arrested at the Diamond Place Apartments on July 8, 2012 for Violation of Parole, a felony, Contempt/disobeying a court order, a misdemeanor and Grand Theft from a person, a felony.
Calaveras Sheriff's deputies booked Hix into the Calaveras County Jail.

A San Andreas man, George Alexander Jones, 20, was arrested for Arranging a meeting with a minor ( a misdemeanor) and Contacting a minor with the intent of having sex (a felony).
Calaveras Chounty Sheriff's Deputies arrested Jones on Hwy 49 in San Andreas.
Angels Camp Resident Arrested in Copperopolis
Heather Kathleen Vannatta, (42) of Angels Camp, was arrested for battery and vandalism on Arrowhead St. in Copperopolis, according to a Calaveras County Sheriff's report.
Vannatta was cited and released.
Burglary on Linebaugh Rd. in Arnold
Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputies were called for a burglary at a commercial business reported on Linebaugh Rd in Arnold. There were no suspects at the scene by the time the burglary was discovered.
Sheriff's Deputies took the report and will follow up on any leads.
Birds Inside Valley Springs Residence
Officers responded to a call of a shattered window on Redman Road in Valley Springs, with the report that birds got inside the residence.

An accident on St. Charles St. at Main in Sand Andreas involving two vehicles was reported at 8 AM Monday, July 9, 2012. No injuries were reported.

A collision between a gray Subaru Forester and a Silver Ford cause CHP to be called at Hwy 26 and the Camp Seco Turnpike. at around 7:50 AM on Monday, July 9, 2012.
