Traffic Accident at Sheep Ranch and Live Oak

   A traffic accident reportedly occurred at Sheep Ranch and Live Oak in Mountain Ranch at around 10;49 PM on August 6, 2012.  A tan pickup hit a telephone pole, but there are no apparent injuries.

   A tow truck was dispatched by CHP to clear the partially blocked lane.  Power and telephone service was not impacted.

No Board of Supervisors Meeting August 7, 2012

   Although apparently there was information passed around of a Board of Supervisors meeting tomorrow, August 7, 2012, it was incorrect.
   
   The next meeting is next Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 9 AM.  There have been frequent errors in information given regarding the Board of Supervisors, agenda items, etc.in the past year or so.

Mrs. Eden Sanders

    Mrs. Eden Sanders of San Andreas, passed away at her home on July 7, 2012. She was 66.

    A native of San Francisco, she had a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Psychology. She had lived in San Andreas for 22 years.

Two small fires in Shasta/Trinity near Weed

   There are two small fires in the Shasta/Trinity National Forest about 9 miles west of Weed in the Parks Creek Drainage area of the forest.

   They were reported about midnight on August 6, 2012, and are less than 5 acres in size.

   The cause of these two fires is under investigation, but with air and ground attack, they nearly have them both contained at this time.

Two Arnold Men Arrested

    On August 2, 2012 detectives from the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at the 1900 block of Tamarack Drive in Arnold.

     The search warrant stemmed from an ongoing investigation of several burglaries in the area.

Brush Fire in San Andreas

   About 10 PM on Saturday evening August 4, 2012, a fire was reported on Murray Creek Rd in San Andreas.

   Nearby grass and brush caught on fire from a campfire. CalFire San Andreas units responded and was quickly contained to a small spot of brush.

  No injuries were reported.

   The report does not indicate if it was a legal campfire in a campground.

34 Acre Fire Contained

  CalFire reported that a fire on Mormon Emigrant Trail in El Dorado County, just southeast of Pollock Pines,  was 100% contained by 9 AM on August 6, 2012.  It burned a total of 34 acres.

Vandalism and Theft in Copperopolis

   On Monday morning, August 6, 2012, it was reported that the vending machines at Copper's Own Car Care Center had been damaged and the money stolen from them.

   A Calaveras County Sheriff's deputy responded and took the information. It is not known if there is a suspect in the case.

Noise Complaint at Apartments in Arnold

  A complaint was called into the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office of noise, screaming and clapping, at the Sierra Meadows Apartments on Longman in Arnold on August 6, 2012 around 5:50 AM.

   The caller claims it always happens at night. We know of one place where the Sheriff loves to arrest a person for noise.

   Is the practice the same for everyone, or just for certain people. They say they have a noise ordinance now, so why no use it fairly.

 

Dispute Over Care of Dog in San Andreas

   The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office received two calls on Sunday August 5, 2012 from the San Andreas Apts, of a disturbance.

    The dispute concerned the care of a dog. No other information is currently available.

Arrest Made in Mountain Ranch after Fight

   A report was made to Calaveras County Sheriff's deputies that a physical fight was taking place on Stagecoach Hill Road in Mountain Ranch.

   A deputy responded and an arrest was made.

Gunfire Heard in West Point

  On Sunday August 5, 2012, a resident on Lily Valley Cr. in West Point called the Sheriff's Office to request a deputy drive through the area where they heard shots fired.

   The Calaveras County Sheriff's deputy responded, but the shooter was not found.

Battery Reported Over Appliance Purchase

   A complaint was made to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office of a battery occurring at the STP gas station in Mokelumne Hill on Sunday August 5, 2012.

    The caller claimed that he was pushed down a hill after an altercation over the purchase of an appliance.

   The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office responded and an arrest was made.

Gunfire Reported in San Andreas

   A resident on Oak Street in San Andreas reported hearing firearms being discharged,  possibly by intoxicated individuals.

    A Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputy responded and took the information that they were shooting near the top of Oak Street.

Sirius Satellite Radio

     August 6, 2012

     Sirius XM (SIRI) was an excellent buy if you purchased it at under $1 a share. It is now selling for around $2.20 a share.

   Several investors have set a market high for SIRI at $2.50 and have a buy on it.

   A lot of this is based on the economy, since more cars sold means more satellite radio clients.

Son Out of Control in San Andreas

   A Mom at the San Andreas Apts on St. Charles Street called the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office to report their son is out of control.

   A Sheriff's deputy responded. The son apparently is not into drugs or alcohol and has no weapons, he was just disrespectful to his Mom.  No official report was taken by the deputy.

Theft Reported in Mokelumne Hill

   A theft from an open garage was reported on Easy Bird Road in Mokelumne Hill on Sunday, August 5, 2012.

   The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office responded and took the information. No other details are known at this time.

 

Facebook Stock Drops below $22 a share

    According to a story in the Wall Street Journal this morning the drastic drop in the price per share of Facebook's stock can hurt California.

    The state actually based the budget on getting $1.9 billion off the sale of stock

Burglary at Oak Circle Church

   A burglary at Oak Circle Community Church in Arnold was reported the the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office  on Sunday, August 5, 2012.

     A deputy responded and took the information. It is not known if there are any suspects at this time.

Best Buy Founder Wants it Back

    As of this morning Richard Shulze, the founder of Best Buy, has made an official offer to buy back his company.

   He is offering $24 - $26 a share. Best Buy has not been doing well and he might just get his offer accepted.

Traffic Collision in Burson

   CHP reports a traffic accident in Burson left one with major injuries this evening, August 5, 2012. The accident occurred at Hwy 12  and Burson Road.

Computer Glitch Costly for Knight Capital

   After the computer glitch last Wednesday, Knight Capital has been reeling, and now it has been announced that it will cost the company $440 million.

   The exact computer problem is still not clear, but it sent several stocks into chaos and has put a bright light on the company as a whole.

 

Comedy Central Roast of Rosanne Barr Gets Surprise Visitor

   Comedy Central filmed a Roast of Roseanne Barr over the Weekend of August 5, 2012 with Jane Lynch of Glee the Roastmaster.

   In a total surpise, Tom Arnold is rumored to have made a surprise visit to the taping. The Roast will be shown soon on the Comedy Central channel.
