Car Hit Tree in Road

   It was reported to CHP at 11 PM on Saturday August 11, 2012 that a tree was down in the road at Hwy 12 and Evans Road in Valley Springs, and car hit it. Two CHP units are now at the the scene.

 This is a traffic hazard  so be cautious if driving in that area. CalTrans was notified to clear.

Fire on Hwy 26

  UPDATE:  As of 9:25PM they are staging water tenders at the scene. The dispatcher just cancelled one engine, so they are apparently getting a handle on the fire at this time. Jenny Lind Fire has no one to answer the phone now to answer our questions. 

  No other engines or tenders have been called out.

 Jenny Lind Fire is responding to a vegetation fire on Hwy 26 and Schelly Road in Valley Springs at
9:10 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2012. A water tender was called out from San Andreas.

  Two more water tenders were called out. This fire is not contained at this time.

Possible Water Main Break at Altaville Apartments

  At 7:10 PM on Saturday August 11, 2012, the Fire Department was called due to a possible water main break at the Altaville Apartments on Copello Drive in Altaville.

Traffic Hazard Reported at Ironstone

   At 6:30 PM on Saturday August 11, 2012 a call was made to CHP of a traffic hazard on Six Mile Rd at Ironstone Vineyards.

    There is a Heart concert there tonight. We will update when we receive more information. CHP is enroute. Turns out Mrs. Davies cow was out. She got it back inside the fence.

Two Car Accident in Valley Springs

   CHP has been dispatched  to a traffic accident reported at 5:14 PM on August 11, 2012 at Paloma and Gillam Rd in Valley Springs.

   An ambulance is also enroute. Two tow trucks have been dispatched.

   The road was declared cleared at 6:30 PM by CHP.

Traffic Accident on Hwy 4

   CHP had a traffic accident reported at Hwy 4 east of Milton Rd. at 5:15 PM on August 11, 2012. An officer has been dispatched to the scene.

   An ambulance is also enroute to the scene.  Fire was also dispatched.  Use caution  in the area.

Motorhome and Suv Causing Traffic Hazard in Angels Camp

    CHP just received a report at 5:04PM on August 11, 2012 that at 40' Coachman RV and a Chevy Trailblazer are causing a traffic hazard at Anna Lee and Nola in Angels Camp.

   A unit is enroute to deal with the problem.  A tow truck has been dispatched. Avoid the area until it is cleared.

Traffic Hazard on Hwy 49 and Campo Seco Turnpike

   CHP is enroute at 4:41 PM on August 11, 2012 to a reported traffic hazard in Mokelumne Hill at Hwy 49 and Campo Seco Turnpike.

   Be cautious in that area. We will update when we get more information.

Mark Twain Health Care District Gets $800,000 of Our Tax Money

  There have been a lot of criticisms this year about the Mark Twain Hospitals problems, and they were made public  by the 2012  Grand Jury report. The criticisms were mostly aimed at the Board of Directors. Now we have an election in November.

Vallecito Unified School District has 3 Challengers

   There are two seats at the Vallecito Unified School District which are held by incumbents Wayne Harrison and Alison Nilsen and three have file a challenge to those seats.

   Tom Pratt, Carol Ann Gordon and Tom Manning filed by the deadline on August 10, 2012 to run in November for those positions.

Mark Twain Union Elementary School District Elections

     Three incumbents Diane Bateman, Jennifer Eltringham and Maggie Rollings are filed to run for their seats on the Mark Twain Union Elementary School District Board in November.

   There were no challengers who filed by the August 10, 2012 deadline.

    Mitt Romney announced just a few moments ago that he is picking Congressman Paul Ryan as his VP running mate in the upcoming Presidential election against President Obama....well at least we think he meant to say VP.

   He made the announcement in front of the USS Wisconsin.

4 Klamath National Forest Fires Combined in Fort Complex Fire


   UPDATE:  August 11, 2012  The total acreage burned in these fires is now 716 acres. Southern California Fire Management teams are now taking over these fire events.

 Seems like the Klamath National Forest is getting more than its share of fires this year. Four lightning caused fires have now been combined into one called the Fort Complex Fire.

Firearms Discharged in Burson

   On August 10, 2012 the Calaveras County Sheriff's Deptartment received a complaint of firearms being discharged in the area of Hillvale and Burson Drive in Burson.

    The illegal shooters were not found.

Burglary Reported in Murphys

    Calaveras County Sheriff's responded after a passerby noticed and told a deputy, that  a burglary had taken place on Hwy 4 in Murphys on August 10, 2012.

    $1000 had been taken from a place where it had been hidden.  The deputy responded and took a report. No suspects are known at this time. No other details are available at this time.

Arrest in Copperopolis

   After a traffic stop on Bridle Point Dr. in Copperopolis, a Calaveras County Sheriff's deputy made and arrest.

  No other details are available at this time. The subject was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Arrest Made at Mark Twain Hospital ER

   Calaveras County Sheriff's deptuties were called twice due to a disruption in the Emergency Room at Mark Twain Hospital August 10, 2012.

   The second call ended in an arrest. The subject was booked into the Calaveras County Jail. No other details are available at this time.
