Two Open City Council Seats in Angels Camp

   Come January there will be two more open City Council seats at the city of Angels Camp. Neither Scott Behiel or Roger Neuman, who were appointed by the Council, chose to run for the office.

   Behiel, who many have said was doing a very good job, is the main surprise. Since neither of these temporary appointees is considered to be incumbent, we were told that the filing date is not extended.

   However, there is apparently some question about that now.

Traffic Accident in Double Springs

     CHP is on scene at an accident on Hwy 12 in Double Springs where a vehicle hit a deer.  The vehicle is on the right hand side with its flashers on. Be cautious in the area until it  is cleared.

New Fire in Mendocino County

   UPDATE:  Now called the Grade fire it has grown to 60 acres as of 6:30 PM on Sunday August 12, 2012.

CalFire reported just a few minutes ago Sunday August 12, 2012 at 4 PM that there is a new 20 acre fire so they are engaged in near Willits off  Hwy 101 in Mendocino County.
   They are hoping to bring it into containment quickly. We'll keep it updated.

Councilman Behiel Will be Missed

   Angels Camp City Council is losing one Councilman who has worked hard for the people, and that is Scott Behiel. But the City will be "Standing Tall" as far as Michael McHatten is concerned.
  Even at the most recent City Council meeting, he fought against City Administrator Michael McHatten and  Building Inspector Steve Flaigg, to make the number of days a person has to start working on a Permit to build.

Tree in Roadway in Vallecito

   CHP got a report that a tree was down in the roadway at Carson and Church Streets in Vallecito creating a traffic hazard.

  According to the report, a large pine was causing the entire roadway to be closed down on Sunday August 12, 2012 around 10 AM.

   Use caution is driving in that area until it is cleared.

Noise Reported in Several Locations

  Reports of noisy disturbances were reported in various places around the county on Saturday August 11, 2012.

   An alarm going off for over an hour at CHS in San Andreas, noisy neighbors on Feather Drive in Copperopolis, a loud party on Whiskey Slide Road in Mountain Ranch,  group of people making noise while working on a vehicle on El Dorado in Sheep Ranch, and a  boat near Lakeshore Dr.  blasting music on Lake Tulloch,

Speeding, Crossing Double Yellow Line

   In a Deputy initiated stop on Saturday, August 11, 2012, the Calaveras County Sheriff's department issued a citation after chasing a speeding white truck that was crossing over the double yellow lines.

   This occurred on Hwy 4 near Poole Station Rd.

Assault Reported in Valley Springs Store

   The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of an assault inside the La Contenta Village Mart on Vista Del Lago in Valley Springs.

    Apparently two customers were shoving each other, but by the time a deputy arrived both parties were gone.

Petty Theft in Burson

     A petty theft was reported to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office  on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at S & S Storage on Brandy Lane in Burson.

   The caller stated that someone was breaking into vehicles and  siphoning gas out of vehicles. A deputy responded and took the report. No indication of an arrest or suspect at this time.
