Traffic Accident in Valley Springs

   A traffic accident was reported to CHP on August 14, 2012 at 3:25 PM in Valley Springs.

   It occurred at the corner of Daphne and Chestnut. No injuries have been reported. CHP is enroute.

Hwy 4 Open/Closed...Open/Closed?

  We have had conflicting reports about Hwy 4 being opened, and then being closed and then being opened again. On whose authority is this happening?

Suspicious Vehicle Fire in Sonora

  A vehicle fire that was reported in the parking lot of the Grocery Outlet in Sonora on August 14, 2012 at 9:30 AM turned out to be an abandoned car.

   This fire is being investigated as suspicious at this time.

Vehicle Fire in Jenny Lind

   UPDATE:   At 9:45 AM Fire on scene reported they just about have it under containment. Cancelled the air and dozers.

    Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 9:30 AM Jenny Lind Fire and Foothill Fire are responding to a car fire reported on Savage Way in Valley Springs. It is into the vegetation.

   When on scene, they requested two more engines and a bulldozer, a watertender and two crews from Vallecito Camp. Then they asked for air attack. CHP is also enroute.

Hwy 4 Closed Due to Smoke/Visibility!

   UPDATE:  August 13, 2012 4:30 PM.  We just drove up Hwy 4 and at the CalTrans sign in Murphys it says Hwy 4 is closed due to wildfire. We just received a Sheriff's report that they do not know when it will re-open.

Valley Springs Woman Injured in Auto Accident

    According to the CHP, Loretta J. Lower, 51, of Valley Springs, was driving her 2000 Chevrolet east on Lime Creek Rd at an unknown speed.

Traffic Accident on Hwy 26

   CHP received a report at 5:50 AM on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 that a traffic accident had occurred at Hwy 26 and Milton Rd.  A unit was dispatched to the scene. No injuries were reported. Use caution in that area.

Will Local Humane Society Support SB1221?

   We sent an e-mail to the Calaveras Humane Society, asking if they will be showing up in force next Tuesday, August 14, 2012 to speak against the item approving  the Board of Supervisors writing a letter against AB1221, which bans hunting bear with dogs in California.

   Since it is supported by the Humane Society of the United States (not related) we wanted to know where they stand on the issue.

   We wrote in the e-mail that we realized they would have to ask Supervisor Callaway first, since this is really her organization. We have not yet had a reply from them, but will be watching at the August 14, 2012 Board meeting.
