Traffic Accident in Angels Camp
CHP got report of a traffic accident at Angels Oaks Dr. and Hwy 4 in Angels Camp this afternoon, August 15, 2012.
According to the CHP report, three cars ended up on the side of the road after one car swerved to avoid a white car driving recklessly in the other direction. That car ended up on the westbound side of the roadway.
No injuries were reported. A tow truck was dispatched to the scene.

Valley Springs Man Arrested for Contracting w/o a License
On August 14, 2012, Bobby Lee Busolo of Valley Springs was arrested by the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department for allegedly Contracting without a License, a misdemeanor.
Busolo was booked into the Calaveras County Jail and released.

Traffic Control on Hwy 4
CHP is providing one-way traffic control throught the fire area on Hwy 4 today, August 15, 2012. From above Dorrington to the CalTrans yard, traffic will be allowed on a one-lane control basis.
Traffic Hazard at Big Trees State Park
A traffic hazard at Big Trees State Park on Hwy 4 that was initially reported at 9:08 AM this morning, August 15, 2012, is still a problem.
A big rig is blocking the road and a special tow truck had to be dispatched. Be cautious in that area, and avoid Hwy 4 altogether if you can, due to the fire.

Rummage Sale in Angels Camp Saturday
On Saturday, August 18, 2012, the Calaveras Arts Council is holding the Gallery Group's Third Annual Rummage Sale.
It will be held in downtown Angels Camp at Utica Park from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Man Arrested for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender
Scotty Joe McAninch was arrested in Calaveras County on August 14, 2012.
Scotty Joe McAninch, 47, of Manteca was first arrested for operating a construction company without a license offense, a misdemeanor, but then was discovered to be a registered sex offender who had a warrant out from Washington state for failure to register as a sex offender, a felony.
He was booked into the Calaveras County Jail

Fire Near Clearlake- Wye Fire (Includes the Walker Fire)
UPDATE: August 15, 2012 at 10 AM The Wye fire near Clearlake is 70% contained at nearly 8000 acres.UPDATE: August 14, 5:00 AM The Wye Fire is now at 6000 acres.
Monday August 13, 2012 at 2 PM. CalFire reports that a fire which started on Sunday August 12, 2012 around 3:50 PM is near Hwy 20 and 53. 5000 acres have burned so far and evacuations are mandatory for the Long Valley and Spring Valley areas.
There is some concern that these two fires may have been arson and related.
The evacuation center is at the Clearlake Senior Center. 480 homes are currently threatened, and the fire is only 25% contained at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Copperopolis Man Arrested
Gregory Elvis Hyde, of Copperopolis was arrested at Feather and Iroquois in Copperopolis by Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputies on August 14, 2012 for alleged Possession of Narcotic for Sale and Transportation of Narcotics, both felonies.
Hyde was booked into the Calaveras County Jail and was released on a bond.

Wheats Fire Smoking Heavily
It was reported Wednesday August 15, 2012 at around 8:30 AM, that the Wheats Fire, which is considered to be 100% contained, was smoking heavily. This is in the Summit Ranger District, and is west of the Dardenelles and is believed to have been caused by lightning.This fire, which consumed 260 acres, is also in the Stanislaus National Forest is in the mop-up stage, and many of the men were transfered to the Ramsey fire off Hwy 4.

Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Timothy Daniel Stuart, Jr. at the San Andreas Apartments on August 14, 2012 for alleged Violation of Parole, a felony.
