A Little Levity

   Former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland was giving a hard hitting speech about the differences between President Obama and Mitt Romney when he said  "Mitt Romney, if he was Santa Claus, would fire the reindeer and outsource the elves"!

   Even he couldn't hold a straight face after he said it and the press seemed to enjoy it thoroughly, just hearing the governor say "elves".

Two Wonderful Speakers in Charlotte

    Both Mayor Castro of San Antonio and First Lady Michelle Obama used their personal life experiences and those of their parents to bring out the reason why Democrats are who they are.

Message From Senator Gaines

   Senator Gaines visited  Plumas County (which is also part of his district) last week, and saw the devastation of the "Chips" fire firsthand.

   He wants everyone to know that now that the fire is 100% contained that the Lake Almanor, Chester area is open for business.

   The fire, he says has certainly not broken the spirit of the people of the community who are ready to welcome visitors to their beautiful part of the state.

Fire on Phoenix Lake Rd

   A vegetation fire occured on September 2, 2012 on Phoenix Lake Rd in Sonora.  Units from Arnold, San Andreas, Twain Harte and Mono Village responded.

   The fire was limited to a patch of grass and vegetation approximately 10' x 20'. The cause is still to be determined.

Comments About Convention in Charlotte

   Comments we've heard from delegates and news crews:  "Charlotte isn't so hot as Tampa and it's easier to get around in." 

     From the press, NBC inparticular, say they had to drive miles to the Convention Hall in Tampa.

   "Of course, FOX News had the Hotel directly across the street from the Convention Center", one commentator remarked.  Such is politics!

Joe Biden's Bumper Sticker

   Joe Biden may have created his own bumper sticker for the Democrats. Yesterday in a speech in Michigan, he stated.

    "Osama Bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive...because of President Obama."

Democratic National Convention 2012

 September 4, 2012 at 3:30 PM PDT. One half hour into the 2012 Democratic National Convention and there have been no boos, nays or jeering. Now there's a difference from last week.

   The rules were passed without discussion and  Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (even with her funny hairdo) seems to have a peaceful, positive group of delegates.

Burson Woman Arrested

   Brandy Rachell Feltspatelzick (39) of Burson was arrested on August 31, 2012 in Burson for alleged Violation of Probation on three local outstanding warrants, two felonies and a misdemeanor.

    Feltspatelzick was booked into the Calaveras County Jail by a deputy Sheriff.

Arrest Made in West Point

  Parvez Altaf Ali (38), was arrested on Skull Flat Road in West Point on August 31, 2012  for alleged Obstruction of a Public Officer, a misdemeanor and two felonies; prohibited from owning Ammunition and a Felon possessing a firearm.

   Ali was booked into the Calaveras County Jail by a Sheriff's deputy.

   September 4, 2012:  There are 11 State Propositions on the November ballot, many tax increases. We are sorting through them and will post details soon.

     Patricia Mary Veronica Boslet Griffin, 71, was granted her angel wings on September 3, 2012 at her home in Murphys.

    She fought her illness with dignity and courage and now she has found peace.

   A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on September 7, 2012 at St Patricks Church in Murphys.

   According to the CHP, Glenn Wasson, of San Andreas, was driving his 1983 Ford eastbound on West Murray Creek Raod, just east of Pope Street in San Andreas at 3:45 PM on September 3, 2012, when he claims his vehicle suddenly began to accelerate

Good News For Chips Fire Area

   We heard good news for residents of Seneca, the little town surrounded by the Chips Fire in the Plumas National Forest.  They have been allowed to return to their homes.

   The fire, although 100% contained is still burning within the lines.
