CCWD Meets Wednesday, October 24

   The next regular meeting of the Calaveras County Water District, to whom all property owners pay tax, meets on Wednesday October 24, 2012 at 9 AM.

   On interesting item on the agenda is declaring the property at 423 E. St. Charles Street in San Andreas.

   Will they be selling that property or donating it to the County for its Animal Services Bldg. We are aware there have been talks regarding CCWD property for this use.

Global Warming per Pew Research

   According to a recent Pew Research poll, 67% of Americans believe that there is solid evidence that the earth is getting warmer.

     This is up 10% from 2009. The percentage of those who feel this is partly human caused (burning fossil fuels, etc) has also grown.

Assault Reported at Murphys Sanitary District

  At around 8:40 PM on October 11, 2012, a call was made to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office that an assault had taken place at Murphys Sanitary District on Big Trees Rd in Murphys.

   Since they have some unruly people who attend

Arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

  On October 14, 2012, at approximately 7:40 AM Calaveras Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 1800 block of Rawhide Road in Arnold for a report of a man who had been shot.

Grand Theft Reported in Valley Springs

   A church on Hwy 12 in Valley Springs called the Calaveras Sheriff's Office to report that a computer had been stolen.

   It is not known if there is a suspect at this time.

CalFire on the 29 Fire

  As of 9 AM today CalFire reports that the 29 Fire located at Hwy 29 and Murphys Springs Road in Lake County, has destroyed several outbuildings and vehicles.

   The total acreage now stands at 300 acres, and forward progress has been stopped. Some of the evacuations have been lifted, but Murphy Springs Road is still closed.

New Thrift Store in Murphys

   The Murphys Senior Center is opening a new thrift store at their location in Murphys. You've probably seen the big sign from Hwy 4.

    It will have its Grand Opening on November 1, 2012 and plan to have clothing, furniture, jewelry and many other items at good thrift store prices.

   The store will be open from 11 AM to 4 PM Wednesdays through Saturdaysd, and will also take donations during those hours.

An SUV stolen from outside a Colo. Walmart contained a 3-legged tortoise, a 13-foot Burmese python, a rattlesnake, five non-poisonous snakes, three scorpions, five lizards and a tarantula.
