Poll on Retiring.....Not in Calaveras County

The elderly should not have to
worry all the time about how
they are going to live!
A Pew Research Poll indicates that "despite a slowly improving economy, about four-in-ten adults (38%) say they are not confident that they will have enough income and assets for their retirement, up from 25% at the end of the Great Recession in 2009."

The interesting portion of this statement is that "the end of the Great Recession was in 2009."  HUH?

What world do they live in?  In Calaveras County we have a separate Great DEPRESSION, caused by our Supervisors who are anti-growth, passed Resolution 07-242, and therefore anti-job, anti-homeowners, but are pro-welfare!!!

Will we elect Supervisors who will get rid of the waste of a General Plan and help this County get back to work?  We'll have to wait and see!! We know what we've had!!

Twisted Oak Winery earns position on Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Wines of 2012

Twisted Oak Winery is pleased to announce that our estate-grown 2009 Calaveras County "Torcido" Garnacha has earned #50 on the Wine Enthusiast Magazine Top 100 Wines of 2012.

Earlier this year when the 2009 Torcido was given a 93 point score by Wine Enthusiast, reviewer Virginie Boone had this to say:

"What a wine. It tries to intimidate. At first, by its bottle size and alcohol level, but in the glass this 100% Garnacha is like a purring kitten—well a purring 20-pound Maine Coon cat, joyous in its pretty red fruit, and its earthy, meaty, vanilla and cinnamon toast range of goodness. All lush, Twisted Oak's Torcido is, like a retro soap opera, brave and beautiful."

The 2009 Torcido (which means "twisted" in Spanish) is 100% Garnacha, grown in our estate vineyard located in Vallecito, Calaveras County, California. Garnacha is a Spanish variant of Grenache, and produces hearty reds like our Torcido. Detailed technical info and consumer reviews for the 2009 Torcido may be found on our web site.

Wine Enthusiast magazine is one of the top wine magazines in the US, and their ratings and reviews are valued by both the trade and consumers.

Any score 90 points or above is considered "Excellent". Each year the Wine Enthusiast reviews thousands of wines before selecting the Top 100 wines. The full list will be published in the December 2012 issue.

Twisted Oak Winery is located in exciting Calaveras County, in the Sierra Foothills wine region of California. We have two tasting rooms: one located at the winery in Vallecito, Highway 4 at Red Hill Road, and the other located in Murphys at 363 Main Street. Both locations are open daily.

Twisted Oak specializes in wines made from native Spanish, Portuguese, and Rhone grapes sourced from local vineyards.

PFT: Broncos should have little trouble with Saints, plus other predictions for Sunday's games. We pick winners for all the Week 8 games.  Two future Hall of Fame QBs will be on the field in Denver, but Drew Brees has to play against a good Broncos secondary, while Peyton Manning gets to play against a terrible Saints secondary.
