June 4, 2013: Called the "Secretary of Defense" Deacon Jones was considered one of the most dominant players of his era. He passed away today at the age of 74.
Jones spent 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, then 2 years with the San Diego Chargers and his final season with the Washington Redskins.
He played in 8 Pro Bowls and was picked for the NFL's 75th Anniversary team. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1980, his first year of eligibility.
He had been living in Southern California.
