Calaveras Council of Government meets

   The Calaveras Council of Government (CCOG) meets on Wednesday, March 8, 2013 at 6:30 PM in the Board of Supervisors Chambers in San Andreas.

   COG agendas are nearly always very vague and this one is no different. There is one item asking for another $5100 to complete the Transit (bus) audit.

Latest Gun News in the US...

   Have you heard the latest gun news in the US?  In Florida  a man was shot and wounded by his dog when the dog knocked a gun over in his truck.

   So far, the dog has not been charged with a crime.

   Of course, Florida is the same state where a woman was shot by an oven just over a week ago, so we shouldn't be surprised.

Tuolumne Planning meeting cancelled

   A notice of cancellation was just sent out for the regularly scheduled meeting of the Southern Tuolumne County Planning Commission for Wednesday March 13, 2013.

   The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 7 PM.

Alex Smith traded??

   The rumor of the day is that QB Alex Smith who has earned around $55 million in the eight years he spent with the 49ers, has been traded to Kansas City.

Billboard that creates drinking water?

  An engineering school in Lima, Peru devised a billboard which takes desert air and turns it into 25 gallons of drinkable water a day.

   Peru gets less than an inch of rain a year.

   Robotics researchers have apparently found a way to imbed a camera into a ball so that they can see from the perspective of the ball as it flies through the air, especially in football.

   It's been rumored that Dennis Tito, millionaire space tourist is looking for a married couple to go up in a space-ship for 500 days.

   Good news for the day:

Cows on Hwy 4 in Farmington

   Be cautious if driving Hwy 4 this morning. 10 cows have been reported out on the highway at Hwy 4 and Waverly in Farmington.

   CHP was distatched to that location for the 2nd time at 9:04 AM.

Phyllis Gladys Dahlberg

    Phyllis Gladys Dahlberg,   of San Andreas, passed away at Mark Twain Convalescent Hospital on February 26, 2013. She was 69.
