   At aroung 7:30 PM CHP was notified that there were two mailes skateboarding on Hwy 4 at Apple Blossom Drive in Murphys.

   Although publicly condemning the background checks, sources reported today that NRA officials were at all times present and active in the writing of the bill for expanding background checks which was introduced today.

CHP now clearing Accident on Hwy 4

   A Blue Nissan than spun out and ended up in the ditch at Hwy 4 and Stallion Way in Copperoplis, is now in the process of being cleared by a tow truck.

   No injuries were reported in the 2:45 PM incident.

Saved by the Train

   An elderly Riverside County man, who wanted to get rid of his dog, tied it to the train tracks. Fortunately, an observant engineer spotted the poor dog, saved it and turned it over to authorities.

  The elderly man was detained, but probably will not be charged with animal cruelty.

Arrest for public intoxication at Red Brick Saloon?

   Uh, duh! How could this be? An intoxicated person at the Red Brick? There must be some mistake. How could this possibly happen?

   However, it is true. An arrest was made for alleged intoxication at the Red Brick April 9, 2013 around 10:45 PM.

Woman arrested for alcohol, cursing at stuffed animal?

   After a call to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office, a deputy responded to CalWorks on E. St. Charles St. in San Andreas on April 9, 2013 around 7:20 PM.

Arrest for Possession of Ammunition in Angels Camp

   Mitchelle Lee Ballard (25) of Angels Camp, was arrested April 9, 2013 on Stanislaus Avenue by Angels Camp Police for alleged Possession of Ammunition which is prohibited to them, a felony.

   Also wanted on a warrant for the same alleged charges of possessing Ammunition.

CalFire Reports Fresno County Fire Contained

   A fire that broke out in Fresno County on April 9, 2013 around 12:30 PM was100% contained at 80 acres.

   The fire was near the community of Helm and was called the Butte Fire.

Elephant Shot in Drive-by

  A circus elephant in Mississippi was shot by a car yesterday. The veterinarian says the elephant was wounded, but will survive.

   A $21,000 reward if offered for information leading to the arrest of the shooters. The elephants name is  Carol, and  is 39 years old. She was taken home to Springfield, Missouri to recuperate.

   Of course, gun lunatics say "this has nothing to do with guns".

Kristen Olsen Votes Against Education for Poor

    It was shocking to watch Kristen Olsen, who once represented Calaveras County in the California State Assembly, vote against  increasing the CalGrant amount for lowest income students in committee.

   Fortunately, there were 9 others who voted in favor of the bill and it passed.

CalTrans work in Mokelumne Hill

   On Wednesday, April 10, 2013 CHP is again assisting CalTrans while they work at the intersection of Hwy 26 and Campo Seco Turnpike in Mokelumne Hill.

   Use caution in that area. Slow for the cone zone.

Traffic Accident in Valley Springs

   8 AM:  CHP and fire are at the scene of a head-on traffic collision that occurred at Hwy 26 and Baldwin just before 7:30 AM.  The Westbound lane is blocked.

  An ambulance has been dispatched due to injuries reported involving children.  A Ford F150 and a Kia van were the vehicles involved.  Use caution in that area.
