Those who survived Wounded Knee

   The Lakota tribe has been retracing the route of those who survived the Wounded Knee massacre, with a relay following the 180 miles in South Dakota they used to escape death.

Obamacare begins today

   January 1, 2014, today, is the first official day of Obamacare. According to the statistics, 2.1 million have signed up for health insurance under the new federal and state exchanges.

Former first lady hospitalized

   It has been reported that former first lady Barbara Bush, wife of former President George H.W> Bush and mother of President George W. Bush has been hospitalized in Houston for a respiratory problem.

    Mrs. Bush is 88 years old.

Rumors say Calaveras five return January 7, 2014

Their are rumors circulating around Calaveras County (as usual) that a certain 5 return to work for one day on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. They have not worked much lately.

   We'll let you know if they send out any agendas or if they take even MORE time off.

got a firearm for protection for Christmas.

State Legislators go back to work-UC goes anti tobacco

   After a lengthy vacation, California state legislators go back to work on Monday January 6, 2014. The Assembly has several bills in committees. The Senate only has one listed, however.
   Also, new laws in California are now in effect. No smoking of any kind, nor tobacco products such as chew or even e-cigarettes will be allowed on any UC California property.

Grant Fire on Mt. Hamilton

   January 1, 2014:  Like so many other fires in California, the Grant Fire on Mt. Hamilton in Santa Clara County was started by arson.

   Someone torched a vehicle and the fire spread to the surrounding grasses, causing fire. The Grant Fire is now under control.
