Dave Legeno of Harry Potter dies

   English actor Dave Legeno was declared dead of heat stroke after being found in a remote part of the Grand Canyon yesterday.

   Legeno had played a bad guy in the Harry Potter movies.

Calaveras County Water District report

   Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) has released it's Annual Water Quality Report for 2013, as required by law.

   Tyler Paul "Taffy" Tafjen, 16, passed away in his home on July 8, 2014.

Pay Pal refunds donations to Hot Car Death family

  Pay Pal has announced that the $22,000 which had been donated to the family whose 22 month old son died in a hot car after 7 hours, will be returned to the donors.

   This amount had been donated before the father was charged with the death.

Lebron James returns to Cleveland

   After the announcement by NBA star Lebron James that he is leaving Miami to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, most fans are not holding a grudge.

   They are just happy that he is coming home.

Car Fire causes grass fire in Copperopolis

   June 10, 2014 at 3 PM:  A car fire on Hwy 4 in Copperopolis led to a grass fire. Cal Fire was dispatched to the scene.

    A tow truck was called for the vehicle. It was on the grade when the fire started.  4 1/2 acres were burned before being extinguished.

Fire in Wilseyville

  On July 11, 2014 around 4:30 PM Cal Fire was dispatched to a vehicle fire on Blue Mountain Road in Wilseyville.

   The vehicle fire spread to about 1/4 acres of vegetation before being extinguished.

Murphys Sanitary District meets

   Murphys Sanitary District meets on Monday July 14, 2014 at 9 AM in their office on Big Trees Road in Murphys.

    On their agenda is the salary schedule, purchasing testing equipment, establishing a public comment policy, putting public members on committees and possibly changing meeting times.

Angels Camp City Council meets

   The Angels Camp City Council meets on July 15, 2014 at the Bret Harte High School theater at 6 PM.

   On the agenda is the Greenhorn Creek Lighting Assessment District, and the CDBG Block Grant program.

CHP and Angels Police team up in DUI crackdown

   CHP announces that tomorrow, July 12, 2014 they will partner with the Angels Camp Police Department in a sobriety and license checkpoint.

   From 6:30 PM to 12:30 AM the checkpoint will operated in the Angels Camp area. The exact location will be available after 1 PM on Saturday.

Monticello Fire now contained

  The Monticello Fire, which started on July 4, 2014 around 9:30 PM is now 95% contained at 6488 acres.

   The cause is still under investigation.

Abandoned Dog rescued in Benicia

   KTVU ran a story last night about a bartender who found a dog tied to a tree, whimpering and shaking, with FREE written on its side.

   She took it home and now there is an investigation into how the poor dog ended up on a Benicia street.

Central Sierra Economic Development District meets

   On Thursday July 17, 2014 at 9:30 AM the Central Sierra Economic Development District meets at the Economic Development Authority Offices at 99 N. Washington Street in Sonora.

   On the agenda are grant funding and training. Representatives from the City of Angels Camp and the Calaveras Supervisors sit on this Board.
