Republicans meeting in Angels Camp

   The Calaveras County Republicans are holding their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Camp's Restaurant in Angels Camp.

   The meeting begins at 6 PM in the Fireside Room. All Republicans are invited to attend.

Random sample of Divison of California Initiative

   The California Secretary of State has issued a notice to all counties that their random sampling of the signatures turned in by the Statehood # 1648 Division of California shows that Tim Draper has filed more than 807,615 signatures with the counties.

Dale Ragain of Mountain Ranch

   Mr. Dale Douglas Ragain of Mountain Ranch passed away on June 18, 2014 at his residence. The Coroner

Fire on Old Don Pedro Road

   July 31, 2014 at 12:30 PM:  A fire has been reported at the end of Old Don Pedro Road in Tuolumne County. Several engines, a water tender and all aircraft at Columbia were dispatched.

  No other details are available at this time.

Traffic Accident in Lockeford

   July 31, 2014 at 11:45 AM: A traffic accident was reported in Lockeford on Hwy 12 at Elliott Road.

   No injuries were reported. A tow truck was dispatched to the scene.

Pamela Rae Descagnia of West Point

   Pamela Rae Descagnia of West Point passed away on July 11, 2014 in West Point. She was 55.

Traffic Accident at Hwy 4 and Milton Road

   UPDATE at 12 Noon:  A tow truck was called because the Dodge Ram has front end damage.

Traffic Control in River Canyon near El Portal Fire

   CHP has been dispatched to the River Canyon area of Mariposa County for traffic control due to the El Portal Fire. Use extra caution if driving that way due to smoke.

Self-Inflicted gunshot wound in San Andreas

  According to the Calaveras Sheriff's log, on July 30, 2013 at 11 PM, a 37 year old male reported having shot himself in the hand on Gold Oak Road in San Andreas.

   The reported party apparently was not cooperative in holding pressure on the wound. He was transported to the Landing Zone.

French Fire over 7,000 acres

   July 31, 2014:   Currently the greatest concern to the USFS, as they are getting control of the Yosemite Fire, is the French Fire in the Sierra National Forest.

   It is currently 7,021 acres and is only 10% contained. The Hogue Ranch and the Kinsman Flat area are the highest priorities

Calaveras Council of Governments meets

   The Calaveras Council of Governments (COG) will meet on August 6, 2014 at 6:30 PM in the Calaveras Board of Supervisors chambers. COG controls all the money Caltrans receives for our County.

   On their agenda is the usual reports on various Highways around the county and a verbal quarterly report on the Wagon Trail (Hwy 4) improvement project. The public is invited to attend.

Annual Cedar Center Arts and Crafts Festival

   On august 30 and 31, 2014 the 42nd Annual Cedar Center Arts and Crafts Festival will be held in Arnold from 10AM to 5 PM both days.

   It will be centered around "The Hub" in Cedar Center, downtown Arnold.

   Newly released emails at the IRS show that Lois Lerner slammed the right-wing conservatives who were applying for non-profit status as "crazies" and "A**holes".

   There are quite a few people we know who would agree with those sentiments. Judgmental and demanding, loudmouth and nasty are terms we would use for many of them.

Peace Corp pulls out of Africa!

   We just heard that the US Peace Corp has pulled all of their people out of the African countries that have the Ebola cases.

   The Director says that it is only temporary, and that they will return when the Ebola crisis is over.

Traffic Accident at Hwy 88 and Hwy 99 in Stockton

   July 30, 2014 at 8:55 AM:  A traffic accident near the Denny's Restaurant at Hwy 88 and Hwy 99 in Stockton required an ambulance.

   A black Acura and a Chrysler Town and Country were involved. CHP is at the scene.

Yosemite Fire

  July 30, 2014 at 7:50 AM:  The El Portal Fire in Yosemite is now 3545 acres and 34% contained.

   The cause of this fire is still under investigation.

Traffic Accident at Hwy 26 and St. Andrews

   UPDATE:  Accident is now cleared.

   July 30, 2014 at 7:45 AM: CHP is en route to a traffic accident at Hwy 26 and St. Andrews in Valley Springs. No injuries have been reported.

Fire in Amador and El Dorado counties

  The Sand Fire, which has been burning in both Amador and El Dorado counties, is now at 4240 acres, but is 85% contained.

   Residents being allowed back into the burn area will be asked to show identification.

Fire at Yosemite National Park

  July 29, 2014:  As of 1:50 PM the USFS reports that the El Portal Fire at Yosemite is 3060 acres and is 19% contained.

  Big Oak Flat Rd is closed in places due to the fire. A community meeting was held last night with about 95 Old El Portal residents attending. The cause of this fire is still under investigation. 

Vehicle Fire near Parrotts Ferry Road

  UPDATE:  The fire is under control. The helicopter has been diverted to the El Portal Fire.

Carole Anne Langworthy of Vallecito

   Carole Anne Langworthy passed away at her residence in Vallecito on July 21, 2014.

Fire on Hwy 4 near Milton Road

  UPDATE at 12 Noon:  Fire is basically contained to about 1 acre at the Orvis Ranch. Appears to be related to a power pole incident.

Butte County Fire

   The Web Fire in Butte County is 175 acres and is 15% contained as of 9:30 AM July 29, 2014.'

   The fire is located near Forest Ranch off Hwy 32. Use caution if driving through the area. This is a heavily timbered area with limited access.

2nd Traffic Accident on Hwy 12

  July 29, 2014 at 10:05 AM: CHP was just about to clean up after a trailer overturned and spilled its load at Hwy 12 and Davis Rd in Lodi earlier, when another traffic accident occurred.

   The road was still partially blocked due to the earlier accident.  No injuries have been reported in either accident.
 

Sand Fire now 80% contained

   After destroying 13 homes and 38 outbuildings, the Sand Fire as it is called, is now 80% contained.

   As of 9 AM July 29, 2014 3800 acres have burned in Amador and El Dorado counties. Many residents have been allowed to return to their property.

Burglary in Mountain Ranch

  On July 26, 2014 a resident on Baker Riley Rd in Mountain Ranch reported a burglary. The Calaveras Sheriff took a report.

   No other details are known at this time.

Big Rig Hi-Centered on Hwy 99

  July 28, 2014 at 10:40 AM:  A big rig has been reported blocking the entire road at Hwy 99 and Liberty Rd just outside Lodi.

   CHP is at the scene and they have requested a large tow truck. Use caution if in that area.

Tea Potty McClintock defends racists?

   Why is Mr. Tea Potty McClintock defending Bundy, the racist rancher in Nevada? Does he also think Bundy should get to use BLM land free when all others pay?

   Mr. Tea Potty's racist tendencies just get worse and worse. How can anyone with a clear conscience, vote for him? His recent comments about the TP's using guns, but says the BLM officials shouldn't have been allowed to, is enough to make any normal person cringe.

Horses out in Angels Camp

  Horses were reportedly out running around near the Angels Camp Museum causing a traffic hazard on Sunday, July 27, 2014 around 1 PM.

Ongoing NOISE issue in West Point

  Yet another complaint of NOISE was reported by a resident on Barney Way in West Point over the weekend.

   Sheriff's Office indicated the problem is ongoing. No report was taken by the Sheriff's Office. What good is the NOISE ordinance?

"Wreckless" Driver reported?

  A "wreckless" driver was reported trespassing on Stockton Rd in Angels Camp over the weekend.

  No report was taken on this incident. Probably because they were "wreckless"!! (That's what is says on the file, honest!)

Vandalism reported at Forest Meadows Golf Course

  It was reported to Calaveras Sheriff's deputies that golf carts had been vandalized at Forest Meadows Golf Course, above Murphys.

49ers Opening Game 2014

   The San Francisco 49ers will open the 2014 pre-season at the Baltimore Ravens at 4:30 PM Pacific Time.

   It will be televised locally.  The First official game in the new Levi Stadium in August 17, 2014 against the Denver Broncos. Go NINERS!

Tea Potty Congressman McClintock grabs gun--heads for border?

   Tommy boy McClintock is listed as Calaveras County's Representative in the House of Representatives although he does NOT even live in the District.  Time to get off the tea potty and act?

    We heard a rumor this morning that he is leading a charge, grabbing his gun and asking all of his Tea Potty buddies to follow him to the California border with Mexico.  He'll go get those terrorist children!!

Caltrans working on Hwy 12

   Caltrans reports that it is still working on Hwy 12 this week July 28,  2014 through  August 2, 2014 from Hwy 88 to the Whelisma Railroad Crossing in Calaveras County

   This week they will be striping the roadway. Expect 20 minute delays.

Caltrans paving Hwy 108

   Caltrans reports that they will be paving Hwy 108 from the East Avenue Undercrossing to Stoddard Springs Road from July 28, 2014 through August 2, 2014.

   Expect at least 15 minute delays.

Wagon Trail Hwy 4 on Calaveras Supervisors agenda

   The planned Wagon Trail Hwy 4 improvement is on the Calaveras Supervisors agenda for July 29, 2014 at 6 PM.

    That is after Pontiff Ponte and Pastor Edsel finish their prayers for us horrid sinners who believe that women should have the right to choose.

Accident causes traffic back-up on Hwy 120

   UPDATE at 12:20 PM:  Tow trucks are stuck nearly a mile away in traffic, it was just reported. They will clear as soon as possible.

Don Miller, KCRA's "Color Traventure Theater"

  A regular runner, Jon Faust,  who uses the Rim Trail in Arnold for his exercise is credited with saving the town of Arnold yesterday morning. Illegal campers started an illegal campfire and left it.

Fire in Washington state, Carlton Complex

  The Carlton Complex Fire in Washington state has destroyed twice as many homes as originally reported.   The number is now at 300. The fire is now 55% contained.

   Four hundred square miles have been destroyed in this fire, the worst in Washington state's history.  Authorities also report they have seen hundreds of dead livestock while trying to account for the homes. Why they weren't evacuated is unclear.

Fire in Amador/El Dorado County

   July 26, 2014 at 9:50 AM:  Named the Sand Fire, just east of Hwy 49 near Plymouth, this fire was reported around 4:30 PM on July 25, 2014.  It has destroyed 5 houses and 7 outbuildings so far. The cause has not yet been determined.

   As of 8 AM this morning, it has burned 1300 acres and is only 20% contained. Mandatory evacuations are in effect in that area. 1 minor injury has been reported. The smoke from this fire can be seen streaming over Calaveras County's southwest area.

Suspicious dancer and singer in Angels Camp

   On July 24, 2014 around 9 AM a resident on Francis Way called the Sheriff to report a man dancing and singing in the street, in her driveway on her lawn.  Says he's wearing dark glasses and a black San Francisco jersey.

   Resident had to leave for work and children are home with sitter, concerned. Now possibly headed for Angels Food Market.  No report was taken by the Sheriff.

Son arrested for sleeping in hammock?

   A resident on Hwy 4 in Murphys called the Calaveras Sheriff on July 24, 2014 to report that the son had slept in their hammock last night, but had been ordered to leave.

   Apparently Sheriff's deputies arrived and arrested the son.

El Pollo Loco goes public

   Shares of El Pollo Loco rose to around $23 each as the company debuted on the stock market. They raised $700 million in the offering, according to reports.

Gun Club Fire in Gustine

  July 25, 2014: As of 9:15 AM Cal Fire reports that the Gun Club Fire located at the Santa Fe Canal on Gun Club Rd in Gustine is 300 acres, but is now 70% contained.

Fake vintage wine really made in Arcadia

   His Arcadia kitchen was the place where Rudy Kurniawan created his phony vintage wine, on which he made over $20 million from the sales.

   He fooled celebrities and wine collectors and then used the money he made to buy fancy houses, real vintage wine and other luxuries.  He will have to pay $20 million and could go to jail for 11 years for his fraud.

Morgan Freeman "Never coming back" to Tonite Show

   After Jimmy Fallon made the usually serious Morgan Freeman suck helium and talk, Freeman told him in an "Alvin and the Chipmunks" voice. "I'm never coming back here"!

Another child dies in hot car

   This time in Wichita, Kansas, a foster couple left a 10 month old baby in their hot car for two hours. When they returned it was dead.

   Authorities have removed the other two children they cared for from the home and charged the father with negligence.

Russians lose Gecko sex satellite

   A Russian satellite with a male and female Gecko aboard has been lost, according to a Russian space authority.

   Sent up to study weightlessness on sexual behavior, the are now attempting to locate and connect with the satellite.

  An Amazon employee who was visiting Seattle, bought a four-propeller drone and was flying it out his hotel window.

   Equipped with a camera, he flew it near the top of the Space Needle and got reported to the Cops. They told him to stop flying the drone in public. Perhaps people should get used to seeing them. At one time people were terrified of airplanes.

  Last night, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart interviewed the man who wants to break California up into 6 states. Mr. Draper, who lives in the state of Silicon Valley, would not have to share his tax money payments with us poorer states.

   In some ways, having more local representation would be nice, but did you know that OUR state of Central California would be the POOREST state in the United States? Have to think about that!

Grand Theft at Human Resource Council

   On July 23, 2014 a Grand Theft was reported having occurred at the Human Resource Council on George Reed Drive in San Andreas.

   It isn't clear exactly what was taken at this time. A deputy Calaveras Sheriff took the report.

Traffic Accident in Plymouth

  July 24, 2014:  At around 3:10 PM a traffic accident was reported at Latrobe Rd and Lorentz Rd in Plymouth.

   CHP and an ambulance are en route to the scene.

  If you can't answer this question, the PEW research poll was right.  In fact only 53% of voters could accurately name which party their elected Congressional Representative is with.

   Anything can happen in midterm elections. It all depends on who gets out the vote. Republican voters are more likely to want to get rid of the incumbent than Democrats are  this November.

  On July 23, 2014 a burglary was reported after a break-in that had occurred at a residence on Baldwin Street in Valley Springs.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Department took a report.

Blasting in Tamarack?

  July 23, 2014:  After reporting hearing blasting in Tamarack, a Calaveras Sheriff's deputy said he would just go check to make sure it was being done in a safe and legal manner.

   Therefore, no report was taken by the Calaveras Sheriff.

Maine's Governor says "Work for your welfare"!

   With over 12,000 able bodied people in Maine on some type of welfare, food stamps, etc. the Governor has launched a campaign to put them to work for their handouts.

   He says he believes that every able-bodied person should work at least 20 hours a week. What he will have them do is unclear at this point, but this has been talked about here in California.

Charter plane crashes en route to Algiers

   After the plane has been reported missing for several hours, authorities have confirmed that another airline, this time a Spanish owned charter Swiftair, has crashed in Mali while en route to Algiers.

   It is not known if any of the over 100 passengers survived.

President Obama NOT buying Rancho Mirage home?

   Rumors have been flying all week that the President and his wife were buying a home in Rancho Mirage; the gated community that Frank Sinatra and Bob Hope called home.

   Apparently they are just rumors as nothing has been confirmed by the White House.

Calaveras Child Rapist Sentenced

   On July 21, 2014 Robert Walker was sentenced to life in prison for raping a six year old child, after being found guilty on June 11, 2014. Deputy District Attorney Dana Pfeil handled the case for the state.

   The mandatory sentience for this crime is 25 years to life, according to the District Attorney's office, but due to Walkers previous record, the judge gave him 27 to life, meaning he will not be eligible for parole for 27 years.

    Just like in Israel and Palestine, religion in the US is the main cause of disputes, wars, conflicts, hatred, racism and the killing of an economy.

  Many people throughout Calaveras County have expressed their anger and questioned the motives of the MyValleySpringsdotcom people.

Calaveras right-wing religious Supervisors pass Auto-Zone plans

   Although Mr. Gednes from Caltrans objected to the Calaveras Board of right wing religious Supervisors approving yet another set of plans for the Auto-Zone parcel in Valley Springs, the Supervisors stepped out of their prayers for just a moment to approve it.

   Mr. Gednes was only telling the Supervisors about a previous agreement and 4 out of 5 of them didn't care.  This was about trying to make it LOOK like they are promoting jobs, and perhaps saving their next re-election campaign. We'll watch to see if Vosti or Katz donates to either Pontiff Ponte or Pastor Edsels campaigns.

Vet fights to keep "therapy" ducks

   A veteran who says his ducks are the therapy for his PTSD and Depression is fighting to keep the 14 in his back yard with a kiddie pool and fenced yard. Apparently the city in Ohio has rules against ducks.

Jets won't be landing in Israel

   After a rocket landed near the airport, the FAA ordered US airlines cancel all flights to Israel. Then European carriers followed suit.

    None of the airlines want another MH 17 disaster. Israel is furious.

Couple loses three children in MH 17

  An Australian couple were sending their three children; Mo 12, Evie 10 and Otis 8, home with their grandfather on MH 17, after a vacation in Europe.

   Now they have lost all three of their children and the grandfather in the horror over Ukraine.

Billy Joel to receive Gershwin Award

   The Library of Congress doesn't often give this award, but it was just announced that Billy Joel will receive the Gershwin Award for Popular Songs.

   The "piano man" has so many top 10 songs, its hard to pick out the best. Named for the Gershwin brothers, it is for songwriters or singers who tell stories in the music that the public love.

Bobby Aho of Calaveras County

    Bobby Allen Aho's struggle with cancer ended on July 4, 2014.  Bobby's last day was spent with his wife Linda Aho, daughter and son-in-law Mona and James San Nicolas.

Costa Concordia finally moves

Vehicle injures deer at Forest Meadows and Hwy 4

  July 21, 2014 at 2:45 PM:  CHP is at the scene of a traffic accident where a vehicle hit and injured a deer at Hwy 4 and Forest Meadows.

   If you get deer warning whistles you have a better chance of NOT hitting a deer. For around $10 its worth every cent and they stick on your bumper easily.

  

Fire in Washington state

   The big Carlton Complex Fire in the Methow Valley in Washington state is only 2% contained today.

FIre in Shasta County

   As of July 21, 2014 the Bully Fire is at 12,661 acres but is now 81% contained. Twenty structures have been destroyed.

   All evacuations and road closures have been lifted.

Noise Complaint in Camp Connell

  The Calaveras Sheriff received a report of noise at around 11:30 PM on July 20, 2014 in Camp Connell at Hokan Circle and Meko Drive. No report was taken by the Sheriff.

Blue Crab caught near Russia

   A Japanese seafood company has caught a blue crab in Russian waters.  The crab is being kept on display instead of being sold.

Illegal shooting in Arnold

   On July 20, 2014 it was reported that shooting occurred at Cedar Center in Arnold. No report was taken by the Sheriff.

Criminals will want to sign this initiative, BUT NOT HONEST PEOPLE!!!

   The Secretary of State's Office has just released  a new initiative 1645 now available for signatures. We are sure all the criminals will be signing up for this one. It affects drug crimes and thefts.

    William Lansdowne and George Gascon must collect 504,760 signatures to be eligible for the 2016 ballot.   It reduces punishments of crimes of theft to misdemeanors Receiving Stolen Property, forging or writing bad checks with totals valued under $950 to not be charged with Felonies, only Misdemeanors.

   Any of us who have been stolen from will NOT be signing this, just so they can get out quick and steal again. Also, it has nothing to raise to felony level of REPEAT OFFENDERS!!

Final budget report approval on Calaveras Jail Project

   On July 22, 2014 at their 9 AM meeting, the Calaveras extremist right wing religion Board of Supervisors has on their agenda the final approval of budget for the new Jail and Sheriff's Office building.

     The final cost of the Jail Project:  $59,220,395

     The final contract cost for Flintco : $44,359,824

    A final change order for PSA Dewbury:  $125,789

     A final change order for Kitchell: $376,200

     A final change order for Construction Testing Services:  $372.75

    And accepting the final report on the project. But is there a place for the Supervisors to go pray?

AutoZone appeals denial of Planning Commission

  Katz Kirkpatrick Properties is appealing on behalf of Auto Zone to the Calaveras Board of Supervisors the denial of the Planning Commission for their Valley Springs project. It is on Tuesday July 22, 2014 at 9 AM.

   The Planning Commission lists several issues as problems with the plan, including traffic congestion in the Valley Springs area. And they are saying that the previous project was never recorded.

   No one seems to be sure in this Board of right-wing extremist Supervisors and especially Pontiff Ponte, Pastor Edsel and Altar Boy Spellman can get their heads out of their "religious extremist policies" to handle any type of business. We'll see!
   

Elevate the Calaveras Board Clerk to Podium, Elevate Pay, and Elevate FEES?

   In order to try and offset the cost of Elevating the Calaveras Board Clerk to the Podium as if she was a Supervisor or Department Head, giving the Board Clerk a big raise, the Board of Super-Extremist right wing Supervisors plans to charge you if you DARE to appeal to their Tax Assessment Appeals Board.

   This is to try and discourage those who are NOT wealthy NOT to try and appeal their tax assessment. Is this just to pay the Board Clerk an unhealthy amount of money? Or is this to be donated to their favorite anti-woman's rights churches? This is on July 22, 2014's  9AM agenda.

Fish and Wildlife to issue permits for wind turbines to kill eagles?

   Tomorrow July 22, 2014 the California Fish and Wildlife Service is holding a hearing about issuing permits to Wind Turbine companies to kill eagles.

  The meeting will be held at the Red Lion Inn Woodlake conference center, 500 Liesure Lane in Sacramento from 5 to 8 PM.  The California Audubon Society is encouraging interested residents to attend.

Two Valley Springs men arrested

   On July 18, 2014 Emmett Cleveland James (63) of Valley Springs was arrested at St. Charles and Main St. in San Andreas for allegedly Receiving Stolen Property over $400 and Possession

Adam Levine gets married

   It seems that Adam Levine has married his girlfriend Behati Prinsloo in Cabo San Lucas over the weekend.

Copperopolis man arrested

   On July 18, 2014 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Trustyn Troy Taliaferro (23) of Copperopolis, on Millie Street in Copperopolis for alleged Possession of Narcotic Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree Burglary, Receiving Stolen Property valued over $400 and Grand Theft over $950, all four Felonies.

   Taliaferro was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

James Garner dies...

   It seems that James Garner was on both TV and in movies for many decades. Most recently, the movie "The Notebook" was a wonderful part for him to end his career with.

   He was 86 years old and most cannot remember when he wasn't in either a TV show or on the big screen, both in comedies and dramatic roles.

Arrest on Fir Street in Arnold

     On July 20, 2014 Nathan Wesley Smith, (32) no address listed in Arnold, was arrested on Fir Street for alleged Violation  of Parole on two outstanding warrants, both felonies and for Obstructing a Public Officer and Unauthorized entrance, both misdemeanors.

   Smith was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Man choked by cop, dies

   After a cop arrested and put a choke hold on a man selling cigarettes without taxing them in NYC, the man died.

   The cop has been fired, according to NYC authorities.

$23.6 billion jury verdict not likely to stand

   Although a Florida jury awarded the wife of a 36 year old $23.6 billion due to his death of lung cancer after being a lifetime chain smoker, many feel the punitive damages will likely be cut down by an appeals court.

   The tobacco companies plan to appeal immediately.

   Now the release of facts that indicate NSA employees routinely shared racy photos they intercepted of Americans cell phone traffic.

Cal Trans working on Hwy 26

   Cal Trans is announcing that between Monday, July 21 through Friday July 25, 2014 that they will be working on Hwy 26 between Paloma Road in Calaveras County and Hwy 88 and Amador County to pave.

   Motorists should expect 20 minute delays due to one-way traffic between 6 AM and 6 PM.

Cal Trans work this week

   Cal Trans reports that during the week of July 21, 2014 through July 25, 2014 they will be working on Hwy 12 from Hwy 88 intersection to the Whelisma Railroad Crossing in Calaveras County.

   One way traffic control will be in effect from 6 AM to 6 PM each day.  Delays of 20 minutes can be expected.

Why Russian denies part in bringing down MH 17

   A little history of the games country plays when an airliner with passengers on board is brought down by another country. Russian has denied any part in the shooting down of MH 17.

   The United States accidentally shot down an airliner years ago, denied publicly that it ever happened and then paid Iran millions of dollars quietly. Apparently this is the way all countries handle their military mistakes, even when they are of this magnitude.

Burglaries on Hwy 12

   On July 18, 2014 a burglary was reported that had occurred on Hwy 12 in Valley Springs.  A second burglary was reported on Hwy 12 in Valley Springs a couple of hours later.

   A Calaveras Sheriff's deputy took the reports. It is not known if there are any suspects.

Buzzard Fire in Oregon grows

    July 19, 2014 at 6:15 AM:  The USFS reports that the Buzzard Fire in Oregon is now 368,961 acres and only 20% contained. Over 1200 firefighters are on the ground.

   This fire is 380 miles around the perimeter.

Hogan Dam Observation Point burglarized

  On July 18, 2014 the Calaveras Sheriff received a report that the Hogan Dam Observation Point had been burglarized in Valley Springs.

   The Sheriff took a report. We aren't sure what was taken in the burglary.

Traffic signals out on Hwy 49

   July 19, 2014 at 11:10 AM:   CHP is responding to a report of signals out at Hwy 49 and Main Street in Jackson. Use caution in that area until repaired.

Noise/Loud parties reported in Arnold

    July 18, 2014 between 10 PM and 12:30 AM: Loud parties were reported as a disturbance to the Calaveras Sheriff by residents on Campo Seco Rd, on Splash Dam Rd in Arnold and an ongoing issue with parties and noise on Hangtree Trail in Dorrington.

   Shouldn't this come under the NOISE ordinance?? No reports were taken by the Sheriff.

Nine shots reported in Murphys

   Illegal shooting was reported near Utica Reservoir in Murphys on July 18, 2014. The Sheriff took no report of the nine shots fired.

Disturbance in Valley Springs leads to Arrest

   After a call to the Calaveras Sheriff around 8:15 on July 18, 2014 about a disturbance, an arrest was made on Leary Court in Valley Springs.  No other details are known at this time.

Motorcycle Accident on Hwy 120

   UPDATE:  As of 11 AM the road is clear. The motorcycle, which was about 20' off the roadway, has been removed and rider taken to hospital.

   July 19, 2014 at 9:15 AM: Cal Fire reports that the Bully Fire in Shasta County, started when a man drove his vehicle through dry grass, is now 12,661 acres and is 61% contained.

   All evacuations have been lifted. 20 homes have been destroyed.

Explosions, gunfire reports ignored?

   We see repeatedly in Calaveras County, that residents who report gunfire or explosions of any type near their homes are ignored by the Calaveras County Sheriff.

   Many of these are written off apparently by the Sheriff as being FIREWORKS (NO BIG DEAL, right?) No reports were taken on those reported on July 17, 2014 that we could see.

Neighbors from Hell are everywhere!

  On July 17, 2014 residents on S Petersburg Rd and S. Ranchero Rd in Valley Springs reported that neighbors have attempted to run she and her 13 year old daughter off the road with their vehicle, they try to sic their pit bull on them as she walks by and they call her names.

   This is apparently an ongoing issue. Despite their plea for contact from a Deputy, typical for the Calaveras Sheriff, they took NO report. Neighbors from Hell seem to be everywhere, and good luck getting THIS Sheriff to do anything about it.

  The soldier convicted of espionage and given a 25 year sentence, says he's a female and has changed his name to Chelsea.

   Bradley Manning has requested treatment  to become a woman and the military must decide whether to transfer him or treat him in the prison where he presently is serving his / her term.

  The President just announced that they are opening an investigation into the crash of the Malaysian jetliner crash in the Ukraine yesterday.

   He reported that at least one passenger was an American citizen aboard the jet that is believed to have been shot down, killing everyone.
