McClintock begging for Tea Potty money

   The incumbent Tea Potty congressman from our district is scared to death!  He sent out an email today, begging for money to defeat a moderate Republican in November.

"Big Bang" actors get big bucks!

   The three major characters in "The Big Bang Theory" signed new contracts finally, so filming for season 8 can begin.

   It is reported that Jim Parson, Johnny Galecki and Katie Cuoco will each receive approximately $1 million per episode.

Yosemite's Great Grey Owl habitat lost

   The Rim Fire of 2013 destroyed much of Yosemite's Great Grey Owl habitat, along with most of the vole population, which the owl needs to survive (they do not burrow and could not escape the fire).

   Now there is a question of the owl's survival. Most of the snags, mostly dead trees that still stand, were incinerated, leaving them without a place to nest.

Fire in Oregon and California

   The Beaver Complex Fire, made up of the Oregon Gulch Fire and the Salt Creek Fire, started in Oregon and then moved into California.

   Over 36,000 acres have been burned altogether and it is still only 35% contained. Of that total, 9,464 acres have burned so far in California.

Day Fire 75% contained

   August 6, 2014 at 7 AM:  After 13,000 acres plus were burned, the Day Fire in Modoc County is now 75% contained.

   The change in weather has really helped with the fires here in Northern California.

Hwy 4 traffic delays

     August 6, 2014: Caltrans is doing some spot repaving on Hwy 4 between Douglas Flat and Bear Valley for 2 to three weeks, beginning August 5, 2014.

   Work was scheduled to begin on Monday, but was delayed due to weather.  Be prepared for delays once it does start.
