Amador Supervisors meet-thank you letter about 1199!

    On September 9, 2014 at 8:30 AM the Amador County Board of Supervisors meets in the Board Chambers on Court Street in Jackson.

   On the agenda is a thank you letter to Assemblyman Bigelow and Senator Berryhill for opposing the Moke River Wild and Scenic Bill 1199, which would restrict water rights in Amador.

  Calaveras Supervisors voted to give away its water rights, but fortunately the State legislators saw through it.

Former Virginia governor and wife guilty!!

  After weeks of testimony where former Governor McDonnell and his wife tried to convince the jury that they were not guilty of taking bribes, and 12 other felony counts, the jury returned today.

   The shock, crying, sobbing, wailing went on for the entire time the verdicts were read, which took quite some time.  Even Mrs. McDonnell was convicted on nearly all charges. They could spend the rest off their lives in prison, instead of running for President on the Republican ticket.

Fire in Jamestown

   UPDATE at 3:30 PM:  Cal Fire says the now called Jackson Fire is 15% contained now.

Joan Rivers passes

  After being on life support for several days, we just learned that Joan Rivers has passed away. She was 81 years old.

Neel Kashkari Narrows Brown's lead--but not by much!

   Using the Vergara vs California lawsuit, Neel Kashkari has accused Governor Brown of taking the Teachers Union's side against the rights of students.

   This is the lawsuit that says teachers may be fired for incompetence  and that there should be no lifetime  tenure guarantee.  It's hard to say if it helped much, since Kashkari has only gained a couple of percentage points since June.

Animal Hazard on Hwy 49

   September 4, 2014 at 1:20 PM:  CHP just received a call that there is some type of animal on Hwy 49 at Fricot City Road, Fourths Crossing.

   We are not sure what type of animal it is, but be extra careful if headed for that area.

Injured Fawn on Hwy 88

   September 4, 2014 at 1 PM:  It was just reported to CHP that an injured fawn in lying in the roadway at Hwy 88 and Shake Ridge in Pioneer.

   Use extra caution if driving in that area. Slow down for the poor animals. YOU have the BRAINS!!

Smoke check in Tuolumne

  One of the engines that was headed for the fire in Jamestown was diverted as a report of smoke was reported at Tuolumne Road North and Maranatha.

Traffic accident in Jackson

   September 4, 2014 at 11 AM:  At traffic accident was just reported at Hwy 49 and Hwy 88 in Jackson.

   No injuries were reported. CHP is en route to the scene, in front of the Dollar Tree.

Dale Edward DeRousse (10-28-28 to 8-31-14)

Dale DeRousse and wife Marilyn
   Dale Edward De Rousse passed away on August 31, 2014.  He was 86 years old.

   Dale was born in Riverside and grew up

Attempted poaching reported

   On September 3, 2014 a resident on Summit View  reported to the Calaveras Sheriff that someone was in their back yard trying to poach deer with a bow and arrow.

   Apparently the person told them he was with Fish and Game. Cute, real cute!! Of course, the sheriff took no report!

Dirtbike on Meadowmont Golf Course?

   On September 3, 2014 a person called to complain that someone was riding a dirt bike on the Meadowmont Golf Course!  They must have meant the Meadowmont Cattle Company!

   No report was taken because they could not find a golf course, and we think even the cattle have
left that range for better grass.

Detroit white man sentenced to 17 years

  After the jury did not believe his self-defense theory for killing a 19 year old black girl, the judge followed the prosecutors suggestion and gave him 17 years in prison for  2nd degree murder.

New stats shows that Milennials turning away from religion

  Not surprisingly, a new study shows that the milennials are questioning the mix of religion with politics and in large numbers are turning away from religion in general.

   Gosh! We wonder why!!

One Suicide every 40 seconds?

   The WHO (World Health Organization) has completed the first ever study of suicide worldwide.

  It turns out that an average of every 40 seconds, one person commits suicide. The rate is slightly higher in high income countries like the US.

Cows out on Hwy 88

  As is common this time of year, cows are out on Hwy 88 at Emigrant Trail. CHP is en route to the area.

   Use caution until the roadway is cleared if headed that way.

Fire at Don Pedro

   A grass fire has been reported in the Don Pedro are. CalFire is responding  with several units to the area.

  

Black Lab out on Baldwin

   September 4, 2014 at 8:30 AM:  A black lab is reportedly out on Baldwin at Garner Place in Valley Springs.

   Use caution until CHP can get on scene and take care of the problem. If you are missing your black lab, you better get out there before they give it to animal control.

Big Rig Fire moving on Hwy 12

   UPDATE:  They have cancelled the fire call, saying there is no fire on the truck.

Traffic Accident on Hwy 120

   UPDATE:  Now there is a 2nd collision just down from the first, closer to the Union exit. Minor injuries in this one. Tow truck needed.

Power Line down in Rancho

   September 4, 2014 at 8 AM:  A power line has been reported down at Baldwin and McCauley in the Rancho Calaveras area.

   CHP and PG&E have been notified. Use extra caution if headed for that area.

Cheapest property in America is.....

.....well, it's not in California.  Lake County, Tennessee and Edgecombe, North Carolina have average home prices at $36,000.

   Chatanooga County, Georgia is next with an average home price of $49,000 last year. Most in the top ten are in the south, except for areas around Detroit, Michigan, which suffered a collapse in the auto industry.

NFL Season Officially opens Tonite

   The Green Bay Packers are unfortunate enough to start their official season tonight at the home of the Seattle Seahawks, the noisiest fans on earth.

   This is the first game of the NFL 2014-15 season.
