Wanted!! Have you seen this guy?

  November 14, 2014 at 1 PM:  A vehicle hit a fence at Orange Blossom Road and Sonora Road in Oakdale and ran.

    A male, he was last seen running on Orange Blossom Road, wearing shorts, possibly carrying a large bag of weed; has tattoos on his legs. wearing a plaid shirt and is in his 40's or 50's. Also, he has a long mustache.

  Please call 911 if you see him or call CHP.

Head-on Collision at Hermit Valley

  November 14, 2014 at 3:50 PM:  CHP is at the scene of a head-on collision above Lake Alpine at Hermit Valley on Hwy 4.

   Amazingly, no injuries have been reported, but both vehicles will require towing.


Richard "Dick" Penrod of Murphys

   Richard "Dick" Penrod of Murphys died Saturday, November 8, 2014. He was 73.

   Mr. Penrod was born in Oxnard. He attended Fillmore schools and graduated from Fillmore High School with the class of 1959.

Traffic Accident on Dogtown Road

   November 14, 2014 at 2 PM:  A traffic accident has been reported at Fricot City Road and Dogtown Road in the San Andreas area.

   CHP is en route to the scene. It is not yet known if there are injuries.

Stolen: A Compressor in Murphys; Statue in San Andreas

   A compressor was reported stolen on Tom Bell in Murphys on November 13, 2014.

   In San Andreas a Statue was reported stolen from Mountain Ranch Road.

CCWD hires new General Manager

   CCWD (Calaveras County Water District) has hired yet another General Manager. His name is David B Eggerton and he was recommended by Scott Ratterman, CCWD chair.

   Over 30 people applied for the job, according to Joel Metzger.  They give praise to Eggerton, as they have to every other GM they have hired.

Two Bear Cubs: A Miwok Legend

   Angels Camp Museum is presenting a preschool storytime and art activity on Monday, November 17 from 10 AM to 11 AM.

   It is FREE to preschoolers and will feature the book Two Bear Cubs: A Miwok Legend from the Yosemite Valley.

Friends of the Fair meets

   On Wednesday November 19, 2014 at 6 PM the Friends of the Fair meets at Camps Restaurant in Greenhorn Creek.

   They have two new available Board seats if you are interested in serving. The agenda is full, including the announcement that they were the successful bidder for the Alcohol Services Contract at the Fairgrounds.

Watch out for Fog

   November 14, 2014 at 8:15 AM:  Up in Ebbetts Pass and down Hwy 4 to Murphys the sun is shining and its a beautiful morning; but hit just below Vallecito and the fog hangs like a big blanket over Angels Camp and the lower county.

   Drive carefully, as it is thicker in some spots than others, and watch for deer. A doe and two fawns were crossing Hwy 4 as we approached Angels Camp.
