Sean Penn engaged?

   There are rumors that actor Sean Penn is engaged to Charlize Theron.  They recently took a trip to France and been seeing each other since 2013.

John Ferreira of Angels Camp--Railroad Worker

   John J. Ferreira of Angels Camp died December 24, 2014 at his residence in Angels Camp. He was 86.

   John was born December 9, 1928 in Santa Clara. He was an employee of Southern Pacific Railroad

Electrical Fire in West Point

       On December 30, 2014 at around 2:10 PM Cal Fire responded to a call about a vegetation fire near the intersection of John Eaph Trail and Smitty Lane in West Point.

   A tree had fallen on electrical lines which started a fire. It was extinguished after only a 20' x 50' spot of grass and vegetation burned.

  

Cable in roadway Hwy 99 at Cherokee

   December 31, 2014 at 6:50 AM:  Some type of cable has been reported on the Hwy 99 onramp from Cherokee Road in Lodi.

   PG&E has been notified. Lanes will have to be shut down to clear. Use extra caution in that area.

Roseville man arrested for Stalking

   A 22 year old Roseville man was arrested on stalking charges after police say he followed female joggers in his car on multiple occasions, although never speaking to them or coming close.

   Some of them hid or called for a ride home after being followed, according to officers. Stalking is a real crime in California.

16 Cal Fire firefighters on paid administrative leave

   After an investigation that was initiated when the wife of the Cal Fire captain accused of murdering his girlfriend, claimed sex tapes at Cal Fire, 16 firefighters are now on paid leave.

   It was alleged that there was a tape showing firefighters having sex on fire trucks, according to CalFire officials. It has not been found, but other allegations have surfaced.

Lottery ticket goes unclaimed

   Over two months ago, the winning Powerball ticket -- worth $2,643,793 -- was drawn. Purchased at a gas station on West Harbor Boulevard in Sacramento, it has still not been claimed.

   The winning numbers were 48, 28, 59, 25, 57 and 16.  The winner has 180 days to claim their prize.  Lottery officials remind people to sign the back of their tickets.

Third GOP in command caught with White Supremacists

   Steve Scalise of Louisiana is third in power in the GOP in the House of Representatives.

   Since it was made public that he has made speeches to White Supremacist groups, and is possibly tied to KKK leader David Duke, his leadership ability has been questioned.

   If anyone finds where he has made white supremacist comments he will most likely be in real trouble in his new role, as well as the GOP itself.

More Protests after autopsy released

   A 25 year old mentally ill unarmed black man was killed by LAPD in August. He had three bullets in him. The autopsy had been held back by LAPD.

   After months of holding it back, the Coroner has released the autopsy, showing that at least one of the bullets had hit him in the back.  Protests became more heated in LA last night, as a result.

   December 30, 2014 at 2 PM:  A traffic collision at McKinley and Louise Ave. has both lanes blocked in Lathrop.

   CHP is at the scene. No injuries are reported. A tow truck is en route.

Traffic collision in Arnold

   December 30, 2014 at 1:30 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 4 and Beatrice Drive in Arnold.

   Emergency personnel are en route to the scene.

Several people chasing dog on Hwy 4

   December 30, 2014 at 12:50 PM:  Several people have been trying to catch a dog that is running around on Hwy 4 at Pennsylvania Gulch Drive in Murphys.

   Use extra caution in that area.

State Ranger pursues man who drives off cliff

   Near Bodega Bay, a California State Park Ranger tried to pull over an older model vehicle for multiple violations.

   The man sped away and the ranger gave chase until the man plunged 75' over a cliff to his death on the beach below.  It isn't clear why a ranger would give chase that way.

Air-Asia plane debris located

   The plane that went down on Sunday on its way to Singapore, has apparently been located. Several ships in the area are now recovering bodies and debris.

   A search for the main fusilage of the plane and the black boxes is now being conducted. The location is only 6 miles from where they lost radio contact.

New York GOP Congressman steps down

   New York City GOP Representative Michael Grimm has decided to give up his seat in the House willingly, after being found guilty of several alleged crimes.

   He will leave his seat as of January 5, 2014 according to reports.

Copperopolis man arrested for threatening police

   According to the Angels Camp Police Department, on December 29, 2014 at approximately 7 PM, officers were dispatched to the Save Mart parking lot as a result of multiple calls from a male caller stating he was going to kill any police officers

Traffic Collision in Arnold

   December 30, 2014 at 11:20 AM:  A tan Lexus and a blue Honda have collided on Meadow Drive at Cypress Point in Arnold.

  A tow truck has been requested. No injuries are reported, but both lanes are currently blocked.

Jewelry theft in Copperopolis

   On December 28, 2014 a resident on Sugar Loaf in Copperopolis reported that jewelry and knives has been stolen.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report.

Hitchhiking in Wheelchair?

   On December 29, 2014 a caller reported that a male with dark clothing was out near Hwy 49 at Hwy 12 in San Andreas, in a wheelchair.

   The male told the deputy he was hitchhiking. No report was taken.

Grand Theft in Valley Springs

 On December 29, 2014 a Grand Theft was reported by a resident on Butler Lane in Valley Springs.

  The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report.

Traffic Hazard at Big Trees

   December 30, 2014 at 10:50 AM:  A traffic hazard has been reported on Hwy 4 at Big Trees Village.

   It isn't clear what the hazard is, but be very cautious if headed for that area until CHP can clear the roadway.

Arrest for Threats in Valley Springs

   On December 27, 2014 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Jeremy Donald Sheets (40) of Valley Springs at Laurel and Daphne Streets in Valley Springs for allegedly Threatening a crime with the Intent to Terrorize, a felony and for Receiving Stolen Property and Obstructing or Resisting Arrest, both misdemeanors.

   Sheets was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Car vs tree on Hwy 26

   December 30, 2014 at 10:05 AM:  A black Nissan ran off the roadway and hit a tree at North Fine Road and Hwy 26 in Linden.

   CHP is en route to the scene. No injuries have been reported.

  It has been missing for nearly 48 hours now, and there is apparently very little hope of finding anyone still alive in the AirAsia crash.

 One pilot says he thinks that pilot tried to climb with low airspeed and the plane stalled, then falling back to earth or sea. They still have not located MH 370 from 10 months ago.

  After 19 years, comedian Chris Rock and his wife Maleek have announced that they are getting a divorce.

 They have two daughters together. He is estimated to be worth around $70 million.

Hobbit: Five Armies wins box office

 Not surprisingly, "The Hobbit: The battle of the Five Armies" grossed the most at the box office over the Christmas weekend.

 It is estimated that it took in $54.5 million, including Christmas Day.  "The Interview" apparently took in $15 million from online sales and rentals.

Dog hit by car and left

 December 29, 2014 at 10 AM: CHP received a call from a witness who saw a car hit a dog and then drive off at East Main and Del Mar in Garden Acres.

  It is illegal in California to leave the scene after hitting an animal without calling 911 to notify them.

Head-on crash in Midpines

 UPDATE at 10 AM: Emergency vehicles have been stopped by traffic backup on Hwy 140 due to this crash, on a blind corner.

NYSE building NOT for sale?

 Amidst all the rumors about the New York Stock Exchange building and trading floor being for sale, CNBC reported this morning that the owner of the building, Intercontinental Exchange denies reports that it will be sold within a year.

 Since trades are done electronically now, this could be the reason for considering the sale.

  December 29, 2014 at 9:30 AM:  CHP is at the scene of a traffic collision at Stoney Creek Road and Argonaut Lane in Jackson.

  A vehicle has gone through a fence and apparently the fence will have to be cut to get the vehicle back outside the fence. A tow truck has been dispatched. No injuries have been reported.

 Although his overall record with the 49ers is good, Jim Harbaugh will be leaving the 49ers. Is he going to his Alma Mater?

 After their win against the Arizona Cardinals, it was announced that it was hit last game with the team. Rumors say he may be going to a college team in Michigan, who is offering him $8 million a year.

  A white vehicle with unknown plate numbers was apparently the vehicle that ran. No other details are known at this time.

 A Folsom man has died and another man is hospitalized after a snowmobile crash near Strawberry in El Dorado County.

 Indications are that speed on a corner was a factor in the crash.

 December 28, 2014 at 8:40 AM: A car hit and knocked over a power pole on River Road in Ripon. A small fire is reported as a result.

  CHP has notified PG&E. No injuries have been reported. A tow truck and fire departments have been dispatched to the scene.

Collision on Hwy 99

 December 28, 2014 at 8:30 AM: CHP is at the scene of a traffic collision at Hwy 99 and Kansas Ave in Modesto.

 A witness reported that the vehicle seemed to be traveling around 90 MPH before the crash. It is smoking and facing the wrong way at this time. A tow truck has been dispatched.

 Richard "Wayne" Dougherty was born September 21, 1966 in San Leandro. He passed away on November 25, 2014 early in the morning, suddenly.

 According to the CHP report, on December 24, 2014 at approximately 11 AM a Ford Bronco was stolen from Tractor Supply in Sonora.

   So many people got what they wished for this Christmas that the government is working fast to get rules in place and make more drone schools available.

   Be sure to take some type of class or training before you excitedly take your drone up and then have it crash unceremoniously.  Also, there are rules about how high they are allowed.  Have fun, but be careful!

Three lion cubs now at Sacramento Zoo

   As of December 26, 2014 three new lion cubs will be on display at the Sacramento Zoo, at the corner of Land Park Drive and Sutterville Road.

   The three cubs, 2 females and one male, were born in October.

Vehicle hit irrigation valves and left

   December 26, 2014 at 12:45 PM:  CHP just received a report that a vehicle hit irrigation valves on Lone Tree Road in Escalon and left the scene.

   A unit is en route to the scene.

Tragic head-on collision in Fair Oaks

   December 26, 2014:  According to CHP two cars appear to have collided at high speed on San Juan Ave in Fair Oaks around 1:30 AM.

   One car burst into flames, and both vehicles were unrecognizable.  Four were dead at the scene and 2 were transported to hospitals with major injuries.  They are testing for drugs and or alcohol.

Big Rig fuel truck stuck near Farmington

   December 26, 2014 at 11 AM:  A big rig fuel truck apparently got stuck while trying to turn around at Escalon Bellota Road and San Julien Road near Farmington.

   Both lanes are blocked at that location.  Use caution until a big rig tow can free the truck.

Valley Springs man arrested

   On December 23, 2014 around 7 PM California Highway Patrol arrested William George Hosford, III (53) of Valley Springs  on Raindance in Valley Springs for alleged DUI/alcohol or drugs causing great bodily injury, DUI .08 or more with great bodily injury and Hit and Run causing death or great bodily injury, all felonies.

   Hosford was booked into the Calaveras County Jail and was released after posting Bond on December 24, 2014.

  UPDATE:  The road is now clear.

Angels Camp man arrested Christmas Eve

   Around 3:30 AM on December 24, 2014 Angels Camp Police Department arrested Riley Peter Thomas Segale (19) of Angels Camp on South Main Street for Alleged Assault with a Deadly Weapon, not a Firearm, a felony, and for Exhibiting a Deadly Weapon, not a Firearm and Battery on a Spouse/Ex-Spouse/Date, both misdemeanors.

   Segale was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Traffic collision in Lockeford

   December 26, 2014 at 9:15 AM:  CHP is at the scene of a traffic collision at Hwy 12 and Hwy 88 in Lockeford.

   One vehicle is on its side and one is in the ditch. Minor injuries have been reported. An ambulance and tow truck are responding.

Clint Eastwood and wife divorce final

   It seems that Clint Eastwood and his wife Dina have finalized their divorce settlement. No details of their settlement have been released.

   They were married for 18 years and have one 18 year old daughter together.  A previous news reported, Dina has her own TV show for awhile.

  December 25, 2014 at 12:55 PM:  Caltrans has reported to CHP that several vehicles are blocking access to their road equipment on Hwy 108 in Pine Crest.

   CHP is en route to the area. Vehicles appear to be near a residence on Yuba Ct.

   UPDATE:  Injuries in this crash are minor per CHP.

Vehicle Spins out on Hwy 4

   December 25, 2014 at 12.40 PM:  A car has spun out and hit the bank on Hwy 4 near Appaloosa Way in Angels Camp.

   No injuries have been reported. CHP is en route to the scene.

Tragic Plane Crash on Christmas Eve

   A small plane flying from Gilroy to Amador County on December 24, 2014, crashed in a field near Shake Ridge Road, not far from Westover Airport.  Both the pilot and his passenger died in the crash.

 Tragically, it is believed to have been caused by fog in the area, but the NTSA is investigating the crash, which too the life of Sutter Creek resident Phillip Faillers and his 27 year old son Alex.

   December 25, 2014:  Caltrans is requiring chains on Hwy 4 at Cottage Springs at this time. It is expected to be sunny but cool today.

   December 24, 2014 at 1:20 PM:  A truck is stuck in the mud under an overpass at West Grayson Road and Shiloh in Modesto.

  A tow truck has been dispatched. This is near the San Joaquin River.  CHP is at the scene.

Santa near Nigeria

   September 24, 2014 at 1:15 PM: NORAD just announced that Santa is headed for Nigeria in Central Africa.

   He has now delivered over 3 billion gifts. WOW!!

AT&T truck and Red car collide in La Grange

   December 24, 2014 at 1PM:  An AT&T truck and a red car have collided on Arbolada Drive in La Grange.

   At first it was thought it was no injuries, but an ambulance was just dispatched to the scene. CHP is at the location.

Santa now seen over Yemen

   December 24, 2014 at 11:20 AM:  According to NORAD, Santa was last seen flying over a small town in Yemen on the African continent.

   He's now headed for Saudi Arabia.

Dog out on Hwy 120

   December 24, 2014 at 11 AM:  A dog has been reported out on Hwy 120 near the Miners Mart in Big Oak Flat.

   An officer is attempting to rescue as Animal Control is busy on another call.

  December 23, 2014 at 12:50 PM:  A green big rig that hit and damaged a guard rail at East Pine Street and North Beckman in Lodi, was turned in by a witness.

   The witness even got the license number for CHP.  Good job, witness!

   December 23, 2014 at 12:45 PM:  CHP is at the scene of a traffic collision at Hwy 12 and Hwy 49 in San Andreas.

    No injuries have been reported, fortunately. Be cautious if in the area.

Dog out on Hwy 108

   December 23, 2014 at 12:40 PM:  A Tuolumne County Sheriff's deputy is out chasing a dog that is running on Hwy 108 near Mono Way in Sonora.

   So far he has not been successful. Use extra caution if headed in that direction.

Vehicle in ditch after running stop signs

   December 23, 2014 at 11:30 AM: A maroon sedan has been reported running off the road and into a ditch after running stop signs at Climax Road and Ridge Road, outside Pine Grove.

   An ambulance and other emergency personnel are responding to the scene.

Material spilled on Hwy 99

   December 23, 2014 at 10:30 AM:  Turlock Fire Department has been dispatched to Hwy 99 and Landers Ave, where material is spilled on the roadway.

   Use extra caution if headed that direction until cleared.

Sierra MacIntosh Users Group meets

   The Sierra MacIntosh Users Group (SMUG) meets next on Tuesday January 13, 2015 from 2 to 4 PM at the Murphys Library.

3rd Quarter GDP 5%

   Due to the Gross Domestic Product, or GDP jumping to 5 % in the third quarter the DOW broke its all time record this morning of 18,000.

Traffic Accident on Hwy 4

   December 23, 2014 at 8:40 AM:  A traffic accident has been reported between a white bucket truck and a gray Subaru at Hwy 4 and Jack Tone Road below Farmington.

  No injuries have been reported. A tow truck is required to move the Subaru, which is blocking lanes.

Mud and Rock slide on Hwy 49

   December 23, 2014 at 8 AM:  A mud and rock slide has blocked Hwy 49 in the town of Cool this morning.

  Crews are now trying to clear the roadway. One was traffic is being sent around the slide.  They expect Hwy 49 to be reopen by around 9 AM.

Fatal Traffic Collision on Hwy 4

  UPDATE: The person killed in this crash was a 17-year-old Hughson resident, who drifted across the lanes into oncoming traffic. His passenger, also 17 was taken to a hospital, and is expected to survive.

Woodstock's Joe Cocker dies

     His version of the Beatles hit, "With a Little Help From my Friends" made Joe Cocker a big rock star in 1969, when he appeared at Woodstock.

   He died yesterday at age 70 at his home in Colorado from lung cancer.

Deer in the roadway

   December 23, 2014 at 6 AM:  CHP just received a report that there are deer on Hwy 12 at Lime Creek Road in Valley Springs.

   Use extra caution especially just before dawn and put deer warning whistles on your front bumpers; they work and only cost around $10.

   December 22, 2014 at 1:30 PM:  A vehicle that has Probation written on the side door, reported that another vehicle backed into their vehicle at Greenlee and Deinero in Sonora.

   December 22, 2014 at 7 AM:  A red KIA Sorrento has hit a deer at Hwy 108 and Twain Harte Drive in Twain Harte.

"Hobbit" gets top box office

   In it's first weekend, "The Hobbit" movie took in over $90 million, making it the top in the box office draw.   Not bad.

Auburn man shoot-out with Police

   Apparently a man in his 50's who has not yet been identified, started shooting a Sheriff's deputies who came to his home just off Hwy 49 in the Auburn area around 10.45 AM.

   The house began burning around 3 hours later. Nearly 100 rounds were exchanged between the officers and the man barricaded inside his home.  The man was found and pronounced dead around 3 PM. 

   The cause of death has not been released, nor the reason for the shoot-out according to Placer County Sheriffs deputies.

Rollover on Hwy 99 in Modesto

   December 21, 2014 at 3:30 PM:  A blue vehicle reportedly rolled over several times after being hit by a white vehicle on Hwy 99 at Briggsmore in Modesto.

  An ambulance was dispatched, but fortunately injuries were only minor.

  

Cows out on Hwy 26

   December 21, 2014 at 12:05 PM:  Cows have been reported out on the Hwy 26 between Moke HIll and Glencoe.

   Use extra caution if headed in that direction.

White Toyota hits tree

   December 21, 2014 at 12 PM:  CHP was called to the scene of a white Toyota that had hit a tree and was out in a field off Hwy 49 near a creek just outside Plymouth.

   When CHP arrived it appeared the vehicle had been abandoned. A tow truck has been dispatched for the car.

Raiders vs Bills today

 The Oakland Raiders play the Buffalo Bills today at 1:25 PM on CBS.  Looks like northern California is out of any playoff hoped.

    The 49ers lost again yesterday to the San Diego Chargers in overtime.  The Niners scored 35 points, but it wasn't enough.

Chasing horse in Patterson

   December 21, 2014 at 10:15 AM:  We just saw a report that there is a couple out chasing a brown horse at River Road and Grayson Road in Patterson.

   December 21, 2014 at 10 AM:  This must be the day of escaping cows. There is now a brown cow out on the roadway at Copper Cove and Cheyenne in Copperopolis.

Two injured in San Luis Reservoir rollover

   December 21, 2014 at 8 AM:  Two people were injured when their Toyota rolled over at Dinosaur Point on Upper Cottonwood near San Luis Reservoir.

   CHP is at the scene. Injuries appear to be minor at this time.

   December 21, 2014 at 7:25 AM:  A car hit a deer at Hwy 88 and Wood Road in Pioneer and the deer is still in one of the lanes.

Two crashes on Hwy 88--Now a third!!

  UPDATE at 4:30 PM:  A third crash has occurred on Hwy 88 at Silver Lake; a car ran off the road and hit a snowbank.  An ambulance was dispatched to this crash too.

   December 20, 2014 at 12:35 PM:  Two pickups have collided at Hwy 99 near Eight Mile Road in the Lodi area.

  The black pickup is reportedly now in the bushes off the roadway.  CHP and other emergency personnel are en route to the scene.

Tree down in West Point

  December 20, 2014 at 12:30 PM:  A tree has been reported down in the westbound lane on Hwy 26 at Higdon Road in West Point.

   CHP is en route to the area.  Caltrans has also been notified.

Hit and Run reported in Valley Springs

   December 20, 2014 at 9:50 AM:  We aren't sure if this qualifies as a 'Neighbor from Hell' incident but a resident on Pelican Place in Valley Springs has reported that his neighbor backed into his car and then left the scene.

  CHP is now at the scene. No other details are available.

Amador County Supervisors meet

   Unlike the Calaveras Supervisors, Amador County Supervisors is holding their regular meeting on December 23, 2014.

   It will begin at 8:30 AM in the Board Chambers at 810 Court Street in Jackson.

Chains required on Hwy 4, 88, 108

   December 20, 2014 at 9 AM:  Caltrans has a chains required sign at Camp Connell to the Mt Reba turnoff on Hwy 4. This is for all vehicles without 4 wheel drive and snow tires on all four wheels.

   Chains are required on Hwy 88 6.5 miles east of Peddlar Hill in Amador County and chains or snow tires on 4 wheel drives is required on Hwy 108 at Pinecrest in Tuolumne County.

If you break down near Kirkwood...


   If you travel up Hwy 88 to Kirkwood and break down with your vehicle blocking the highway, you may be in for a long wait for a tow truck.

   December 19, 2014 at 4 PM:  A white Chevy pickup is overturned and down the bank at Hwy 108 and George Drive in Pinecrest.

   No injuries have been reported. Emergency personnel are responding. It looks like it's going to be one of those Fridays for CHP.

Car hanging off edge of road near Dodge Ridge

   December 19, 2014 at 3:55 PM:  A car has slid on the roadway and is hanging off the edge on Dodge Ridge Road at Pinecrest Lake Road.

   CHP and other emergency personnel are responding.  Use extra caution and carry chains if headed for the mountains.

Traffic collision at Bear Valley

   December 19, 2014 at 3:45 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 4 at Bear Valley Road.

  It isn't yet known if there are any injuries. CHP is en route to the scene. It is snowing heavily.

Car off road and overturns on Hwy 50

   A gold Toyota ran off of Hwy 50 and overturned near Kyburz. They may not have been using chains, which are currently required on Hwy 50.

   No injuries were reported in the incident. A tow truck has been dispatched. Several other cars stopped to try and help the passengers, as they went partway down a hill and their airbags deployed.

Snowing in Bear Valley

  At long last, the snow if falling heavily at Bear Valley.  This photo was from 12:33 PM December 19, 2014.

    Looks like at least one brave soul is enjoying the slopes.

Jeep spins out in front of CHP

   December 19, 2014 at 12:45 PM:  A Jeep spun out on Hwy 88 at Hamm's Station, right in front of a CHP unit.

    No injuries were reported. The vehicle is off of the roadway, stuck in a ditch.

   December 19, 2014 at 12:10 PM:  A propane tank has been reported on the roadway at Hwy 108 and Hwy 49 in Jamestown.

   Use extra caution in that area until CHP can clear the hazard.

   December 19, 2014 at 11:55 AM:  A green Mustang has hit the center divide on Hwy 99 at Jahant Road in Acampo.
