Letter to Calaveras County voters

   Dear Calaveras County Voters:

   I wish to thank all the citizens of Calaveras County that supported me and elected me tot he Board of Directors for Calaveras County Water District.

   I served eight years

Traffic collision in Ione

   December 5, 2014 at 1:25 PM:  CHP is at the scene of an accident at Hwy 88 and Hwy 104 in Ione.

   A gray sedan and a gray truck were involved. No injuries were reported and all lanes are clear.

Traffic collision in Jamestown

   December 5, 2014 at 1:20 PM:  One vehicle is apparently stuck under the stairs at Jamestown Apartments after a collision between a gold Buick and a black sedan.

   CHP is at the scene on Seco Street in Jamestown. No injuries have been reported.

Jackson City Council meets

   On Monday, December 8, 2014 at 7 PM the Jackson (Amador County) City Council meets at City Hall on Broadway in Jackson.

   There will be a swearing in a seating of Councilmembers Connie Gonsalves and Patrick Crew to new four year terms, along with selection of Mayor and Vice-Mayor.

Traffic Collision in Burson

   December 5, 2014 at 12:55 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 12 and Burson Road in Burson.   CHP is at the scene.

   A gray Chevy Yukon and a black Chevy truck were involved. Back and neck injuries have been indicated. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene.

Fraud reported in Valley Springs--Online SCAM

   On December 4, 2014 a resident on Nall Street in Valley Springs reported a fraud. Said that she sent Western Union Money Grams for $1045,

Orion Lauch and recovery successful

  NASA's newest space craft, Orion, was launched, made a couple of trips around the earth and then successfully splashed down in the ocean off the California coast this morning.

   We understand that the parachute used to gently bring the craft down into the ocean is the size of a football field.  They play to eventually use the Orion for a trip to Mars.

Truck fire in Modesto

   UPDATE at 8:40 AM:  Reports are that injuries in this collision are minor.

Third Grade Teacher Alleged DUI crash!

   A third grade teacher in the Sacramento Unified School District was involved in a traffic collision where a home was damaged after she crashed into parked cars Thursday morning.

   CHP says she is suspected of being three times over the legal limit and the school district has relieved her of her duties. The driver was on her way to work.

Another storm approaching Calaveras

  While it was mostly clear in Calaveras County during the night, the National Weather Service says there is another rain storm headed our way during the day and for tonight.

   Last night's reprieve allowed the previous rain time to soak in which will prevent some of the flooding in the lower parts of the county.

Pickup off the road in Volcano

   December 5, 2014 at 8:10 AM:  A small pickup has reportedly run off the road at Fiddletown Rd and Shake Ridge Road in Volcano.

   CHP is responding to the scene. No injuries are reported.  The pickup is apparently gone down an embankment about 50' off the roadway.
 

Injured deer on Hwy 4

   December 5, 2014 at 8 AM:  CHP just received a report that a white Chevy pickup hit and injured a deer on Hwy 4 at Williams Street in Murphys and then continued on.

   Use extra caution if headed in that direction. CHP is responding to the scene.

Sutter Creek Road blocked

   December 5, 2014 at 6:15 AM:  CHP just received a report that both eastbound and westbound lanes are at least partially blocked at Sutter Creek Road and Pine Gulch Road in Sutter Creek.

   Use extra caution if headed that direction. We aren't sure if the blockage is caused by a fallen tree or what, but Amador County has been notified for assistance.

Good News for U.S. Economy

     In the month of November, a total of 321,000 new jobs were added to our economy in the U.S. However, Calaveras County has not seen much improvement.   We will check on the states and county's numbers and report them later today.

     The unemployment rate is officially 5.8% nationwide, however, yesterday an official with the government emphasized that you can most likely add 10% to that number due to the people still on welfare or who have given up and completely dropped out of the job market.

   UPDATE on December 5, 2014 at 11 AM:  They just cancelled this meeting.
