Frogtown loses legend - Buck KIng passes

   We just received a press release from Laurie Giannini at the Calaveras Fairgrounds that retired  longtime Fair Manager Warren "Buck" King passed away yesterday, January 4, 2014.

   He loved the Frog Jump, and officiated it for more than 50 years, first as a member of the Angels Boosters Club and then as a founding member of the Frog Jump Committee. We will all miss him.

School bus and car collide

   January 5, 2015 at 3:50 PM:  A school bus and a car collided at San Luis Street and Miller Lane on the Modesto area.

  CHP is at the scene. No injuries were reported.

DOW drops 300 points

   The DOW was off 300 points today, as many of the 30 in the industrial average are oil related.

   Oil continues to go down, which helps us, but not the big corps who rely on high oil prices to get richer.

Sarah Palin's son stands on dog

   Hard to believe, but Sarah Palin actually bragged about this scene of her son Trig standing on their dog.

   Interesting how different families can have values so in opposition to others who love animals. Did she discipline the boy? No, in fact she took a picture and posted it online.

Bobcat hit by car and survives

   A couple in Arizona were headed for dinner when they believed they hit and killed a bobcat that ran out onto the highway in front of them.

   However when they reached the restaurant they found the cat was between the grill and the radiator.  Animal Services responded, sedated it and removed it, seemingly unscathed.  He will be evaluated and then released by authorities.

ACLU files suit for Grand Juror to go public

   As everyone knows, the Grand Jury in the Michael Brown killing did not bring back an indictment of the officer in Ferguson.

   The DA put a gag order on the Grand Jurors. At least one is filing a lawsuit, with help from the ACLU to go public with the claim that apparently not all of the jurors were against an indictment.

   The District Attorney in the case is threatening to have the juror arrested if they go public with any details of the closed hearings.

Colts and Cowboys win Wildcard

   Both the Colts and the Cowboys won their Wildcard Playoff games on Sunday, January 4, 2014. They will now move forward into the regular NFL Playoffs.

   Next weekend the Colts face the Broncos and the Ravens play the Patriots; the Panthers face the Seahawks (poor babies) and the Cowboys play the Packers.

Burglary in West Point

   On January 4, 2014 a burglary was reported by a resident on Barbara Lane in West Point.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report.

Bullets on Pettinger Road?

  January 5, 2014 at 10 AM: CHP received a call that boxes of bullets were found on Pettinger Road at Hwy 12 below Valley Springs this morning.

   A CHP unit is now en route to that location.

Placerville church supports elderly victims of attack

   The Cold Springs Church in Placerville came together to honor and support the 80 year old woman and her 91 year old husband, a WWII veteran.

   They were attacked in their home on New Years Eve. Neighbors could hardly believe that they were not aware what was happening.  The Holdermans recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

   Mrs. Holderman is in a wheel chair. Her husband is still in critical condition in the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

Fireworks reported in Burson

  On January 3, 2015 residents on Dakota, Sturm and Fitzgerald Roads reported illegal aerial fireworks could be seen.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took no report on these incidents.

Motorhome burglary in Copperopolis

   On January 3, 2015 a burglary was reported to a motorhome on Copper Cove Court in Copperopolis.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report.

"Hobbit" tops box office again

  For the third weekend in a row, "The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies" took the top in box office revenue with nearly $22 million.

   Coming in 2nd was "Into the Woods", which took in $19.1 million. "Unbroken" was third with $18.4 million.

   His distinctive, mellow voice and comfortingly familiar face have appeared on series since the 1950's, ranging from "Father Knows Best"

District 3 voters are getting what they deserve: A FIVE time loser and GUN THUG "TEAM"

UPDATE:  We seem to be getting a sensitive person who doesn't want Oliveira related to the "tea party"!

  Why not?  He ran on that and was endorsed by them, received money from them.
