Disband committees on Calaveras Supervisors agenda

   All of 2014 Debbie Ponte, who was then chair, kept complaining about the various committees, commissions, etc. of citizens in Calaveras County.

   She has it on tomorrows (January 13, 2015) agenda to get rid of them

Car into tree in Denair--Fatality

  UPDATE:   Sadly, this accident was just listed as a fatality. Four CHP remain at the scene to investigate. 

Woman Arrested for ID theft

   On January 11, 2015 Angels Camp Police arrested Louise Marie Walsh (43) of Angels Camp, on Amador Ave in Angels Camp for alleged Identity Theft, a felony and for Stealing from an Elderly dependent, a misdemeanor, along with a warrant for two offenses.

   Walsh was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Angels Camp Police Department busy

  Over the weekend the Angels Camp Police Department was kept busy. Everything from Battery on a Spouse or date to Resisting Arrest to Alcohol involved Hit and Run, mostly misdemeanor offenses.

Traffic collision in intersection

   January 12, 2015 at 11 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Claribel and Coffee in Modesto; this is in the center of the intersection.

   Three vehicles are involved. An ambulance and other emergency personnel are en route to the scene.

Junior Fairboard applications now available

   The Calaveras County Fairgrounds is looking for student applicants to be on the Junior Fair Board and help with the fair in May.

     Applications are available at www.frogtown.org. Benefits include parking passes, a t-shirt and discount carnival coupons.

Big Rig stuck against power pole

   January 12, 2015 at 10 AM:  A big rig that tried to make a U-turn at Main and Washington in the Turlock area, is stuck up against a power pole.

   Emergency personnel are responding, including a big rig tow truck, as the big rig is partially blocking the roadway.

"Boyhood" big winner at Globes

   Of course the best part of the Golden Globes show yesterday was Tina Fey and Amy Pohler, who have said they won't be coming back next year.

   "Boyhood" won best drama, best director and best supporting actress.

LAFCo cancels January 2015 meeting

   The LAFCo (Local Area Formation Commission) has cancelled its January 26, 2015 meeting.

   The notice does not indicated why the meeting has been cancelled. The next meeting is February 23, 2015 at 6 PM in the Calaveras Supervisors Chambers in San Andreas.

Car in ditch in Riverbank

   January 12, 2015 at 7:20 AM:  A van and a 4-door sedan collided at Santa Fe and Claus Road in the Riverbank area.

   One vehicle is now in the ditch. No injuries have been reported.

Fog in the Valley

   January 12, 2015 at 7:10 AM:  There are areas of patchy and heavy fog in the valley areas this morning.

   Be extra cautious when driving, leave distance between your car and the car in front of you to avoid rear-ending someone.

Big Rig blocking Hwy 26 offramp

   January 12, 2015 at 7:05 AM:  A big rig has been reported blocking the Hwy 26 to Hwy 99 offramp in Stockton.

   Use extra caution in that area until CHP can clear the area.

Three vehicle collision on Hwy 99

   January 12, 2015 at 6:55 AM:  A three vehicle collision has been reported on Hwy 99 near the West Monte Vista Ave offramp in the Modesto area.

   Two CHP units are en route to the scene. It isn't yet known if there are injuries.

Traffic Collision on Hwy 108

   January 12, 2015 at 6:50 AM:  A traffic collision at Hwy 108 and Hwy 59 in the La Grange  area was reported to CHP, as males walking away, seeming to stagger down the Hwy.

   Three CHP are currently at the scene of the collision and looking for the driver and/or passengers. Injuries have not been reported.
