   All elected officials and those they appoint need to understand that "If they can't take the heat, they need to get out of the frying pan."

   The Chair of the Calaveras Planning Commission, hand-picked by District 2  Steve Wilensky and
his co-hort Holly Mines, is Fawn McLaughlin, who is now Chair.

Placer County to get University

   Yesterday it was announced that the 1200 acre parcel donated by a local developer in Placer County will indeed become a large University.

   Warwick University of the UK plans a large 6000 student campus on the site.  Some in Placer County feel it may be a "stalking horse",

Traffic Collision in Jamestown

   February 24, 2015 at 9:30 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported to CHP on Hwy 108 at Main Street in Jamestown between a black Dodge pickup and a Honda.

   There is debris in the westbound lanes as a result, but no injuries have been reported.

Goats loose near Hwy 49

   One of the calls CHP received on February 23, 2015 was for loose goats near Hwy 49 in Altaville, and animal services was notified.

   Goats are known escape artists and must have tight fencing or they will find a way out. One person told us they probably wanted to go shop at Angels Market.

Firearm and Ammunition arrest on Hogan Dam Road

   On February 23, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Jeffrey Luther Earl McVey (33) of Galt for alleged Possession of a firearm by a Felon and Prohibited to own Ammunition, both felonies

Angels Camp man arrested

  On February 23, 2015 the Angels Camp Police Department arrested Matthew Craig Towne (25) of Angels Camp on Stanislaus Ave. for alleged Violation of Probation, a felony and  Destroying or Concealing Evidence and Possession of Marijuana over 28.5 grams, both misdemeanors.

   Towne was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Letter to the Editor: Why do Men Lie about their military service???

  Dear Sentinel:  

     It has always shocked me when I hear that a man has lied about his military service. The first time I was aware of it was after the Viet Nam War,
