Burglary arrest in San Andreas

   On March 30, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office made an arrest after receiving a call about a burglary in progress on St. Charles Street in San Andreas.

   It isn't clear if this is related to the arrest of an alleged felon with weapons or not, but the times are close. The arrest report does not say he was arrested for burglary.

Tent residents in Valley Springs

   A resident on Sequoia in Valley Springs reported on March 30, 2015 that someone had set up housekeeping in a tent behind the residential area.

   The Sheriff took no report.  They must have had a Calaveras County permit.

San Andreas man arrested

  On March 30, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Nicholas Joseph Frazier (32) of the Hillside Apartments in San Andreas on St. Charles Street in San Andreas for allegedly being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Prohibited Ammunition, both felonies.

   Frazier was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Pickup high-centered on rocks in Sonora

   March 31, 2015 at 1:25 PM:  A white pickup has reportedly run off the road and is now high-centered on rocks at Cabezut Road and Greenley Road in Sonora.

   No injuries have been reported. A tow truck is en route to the scene.

Angels Camp hiring museum worker

   The City of Angels Camp is hiring a part-time clerk for the Angels Camp Museum to perform receptionist, cashier and customer service duties.

   The pay is $9.09 per hour with no benefits and the person must be willing to work weekends. Basic computer skills are desired and you must work well with the public.  Go see Mary Kelly at the City Offices on South Main Street in Angels Camp.

Three arrests in Wallace

    On March 30, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested James Cordy Bauer (41) of Wallace on Pattison Road in Wallace for allegedly being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Prohibited Ammunition and Possession of a Short Barreled Rifle,

Attempted Murder in Valley Springs

   According to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office, on March 29, 2015 at approximately 6:05 PM they responded to the 300 block of Paloma Road in Valley Springs, for a report of a male subject being attacked

Hit and Run Victim chases down suspect

   March 31, 2015 at 9 AM:  The victim of a hit and run in Modesto chased down the suspect vehicle (a very dangerous thing to do) and CHP and Modesto Police are at the scene where the two are now parked.

   The vehicles involved at a Honda and a white pickup. No injuries have been reported.

Big rig hits car on Hwy 12

  March 31, 2015 at 8:45 AM:  A big rig reportedly hit the front tire of a Honda on Hwy 12 at the Hwy 99 intersection in Stockton.

   No injuries were reported, but the Honda will have to be towed.

Cesar Chavez Day

   Today is Cesar Chavez Day. It is a state holiday, and many government offices will be closed.

Car hits bobcat in Morada area

   March 31, 2015 at 7:10 AM:  CHP received a report that a car hit a bobcat at Cherokee Road and Overhiser Road in the Morada area of Stockton.

   An animal control person has been requested to pick up the bobcat and a tow truck for the car. It isn't clear if there were an injuries to the driver of the car.

Dump truck driver causes major power outage - DUI

   Apparently a San Joaquin County dump truck driver hit a pole this morning, causing a major power outage to the Copperopolis Road area of Stockton.

  The driver is alleged to have been driving while under the influence.  PG&E crews worked all day replacing poles and lines, but many are still without power tonight.

'Spirit in the Sky' singer/songwriter hospitalized

   The singer and songwriter Norman Greenbaum, who sold over 2 million copies of 'Spirit in the Sky' in 1969 remains in the hospital after an auto collision in the San Francisco area.

    One person on a motorcycle died in the collision.

Turkeys are running for their lives!!

Help! Help!
   Turkey hunting season began last weekend and the weekend killers are after them big time, we hear. Oh, the joy they get from torturing and killing!

   Hwy 49 just got a report of turkeys in the roadway over past Mokelumne Hill. Killers have to kill! Run, turkeys run!

Gunshot wound in Angels Camp

  Per Angels Camp Police Chief Todd Fordahl there was a report of a gunshot injury at a medical clinic in Angels Camp. The injured person said it was an accidental gunshot injury.

   Since it reportedly occurred in the County instead of the City, the Calaveras Sheriff was the investigating agency. We don't know any other details at this point.

Rim Fire Restoration Workshop tomorrow

   On March 31, 2015 from 12:30 to 4:30 PM the public is invited to a Rim Fire Restoration Workshop in Sonora, held by the USFS.

    It will be held at the Best Western Hotel in Sonora. Topics of discussion are restoral of grazing land, forest and general recovery of the Rim Fire area.

Assault report in Valley Springs

   On March 29, 2015 an assault with a deadly weapon was reported by a resident on Paloma in Valley Springs.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report of the incident.

Burglary in Murphys

   A burglary was reported to the Calaveras Sheriff on March 29, 2015 by a resident on Murphys Grade Road.

   The home was apparently broken into. The Calaveras Sheriff took no report.

Robin Williams wife and children battle in court!

   The wife of Robin Williams is trying to challenge in court, a trust in which Robin Williams gave all of his awards, memorabilia and other belongings to his children in the event of his death.

   She has stated that she thinks the home where Williams died should not be counted in the trust estate.  They will all appear before a judge in court today.

Fire reported in Jamestown

UPDATE at 6:45 AM:  Fire crews report they believe they have knocked down the fire in the garage, and do not find it spread into the residence. The Altaville Melones water tender  was cancelled.

Power lines arcing-Buchthorn Ridge closed

   March 30, 2015 at 6:25 AM;  Buckthorn Ridge Road is closed in both directions due to power lines arcing near or in the roadway in Pioneer.. This is resulting from a vehicle hit a power pole there, with no injuries reported..

   PG&E crew is en route to the scene. CHP is stopping traffic in the area, so avoid it if possible.

   The Sierra Sentinel is doing a series of articles on California's newly named Fish & Wildlife. We want to know if they have changed since they were called Fish and Game.

 March 29, 2015 at 11:20 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 120 and Old Priest Grade in Jamestown.

   A KIA and a Ford  Fusion were involved. No injuries were reported. Use caution if headed for that area.

Assault arrest in Mountain Ranch

   On March 28, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Matthew John Delarosa (38) of Mountain Ranch, at his residence on Michel Road for alleged Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Not a Firearm, a felony and for Battery on a Spouse and Tampering with a Vehicle, both misdemeanors.

   Delarosa was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Car crashes into construction area

   At around 1:15 AM on March 29, 2015 a car reportedly crashed into the construction zone on northbound I-5 at Charter Way in Stockton. It was seen prior to the crash weaving and speeding on I-5.

   The driver suffered major injuries and was taken to an area hospital with compound fractures. CHP  has now replaced the cones for that area.

Cow blocking roadway in Plymouth

  March 28, 2015 at 9:15 PM:  A cow is reportedly blocking Latrobe Road as 5 or 6 vehicles are stopped waiting for it to move in Plymouth.

Governor Brown signs $1 billion drought bill

   Although planned for future droughts, Governor Brown signed a $1 billion water bill which is intended to help California with its water shortage.

   Exactly what the money will go to; tunnels to LA or dams on the Mokelumne, is unclear at this time.

Metro Train crashes into 2 cars near USC

   Twenty-one people were reportedly injured in the crash.

Big Rig hits overhead wires in Tracy

Fence hit on Dogtown Road

   March 28, 2015 at 12:20 PM:  Someone ran into a fence on Dogtown Road in Angels Camp, it was reported to CHP.

   The fence is apparently still in the roadway, so be careful if headed that direction.

Crash in Murphys

  March 28, 2015 at 12:15 PM:  A traffic collision was reported at eastbound Hwy 4 and Mitchler Street in Murphys.

   No injuries were reported but there is debris in the lanes. Use extra caution if headed that way.

Car runs off roadway at Camanche

   March 28, 2015 at 12:10 PM:  A car has run off the roadway at Camanche Parkway and Buena Vista Road at Camanche, on the Amador County side.

   A woman is reportedly out of the vehicle. A tow truck has been dispatched to the scene. Be careful if headed that way.

   The annual fundraiser for non-profit Feeney Park, Mr. Frog's Wild Ride is on April 18, 2015, where bicyclists from throughout Northern California and Nevada will journey to Murphys to enjoy the spring beauty of Calaveras County and take part in the eighth annual event.

   March 28, 2014 at 11:10 AM: A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 108 and Willms Road, near Lovers Leap in Oakdale.

Arnold man arrested

   On March 27, 2015 Joshua Michael Grimes (30) of Arnold was arrested by Calaveras Sheriff's deputies on Hwy 4 for alleged Possession of a Controlled Substance while armed, a felony and for Possession of Unlawful Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. He also had a warrant out for his arrest for an alleged  Failure to Appear, a misdemeanor.

   Grimes was booked into the Calaveras County Jail and released on bond.

Tree down in Ione

   March 28, 2015 at 10:55 AM:  A tree is reportedly down across the roadway at Paine and Tonzi in Ione.

   Use extra caution if headed for that area until road crews can clear.

Collision in Patterson

   March 28, 2015 at 10:50 AM:  A collision has been reported between a Chevy Silverado and an older white Toyota at Las Palmas and Elm in Patterson.

   An ambulance and other emergency personnel are en route to the scene. Be careful if headed for that area.

Aircraft assisted suicides since 1993

   In a publication of the journal "Aviation, Space and Environmental Medicine", the results of a 2014 study from 1993 through 2012 showed 7,244 fatal crashes of aircraft in the US.

   Of those, 24 were proven to be aircraft assisted suicides. Most of those were in private planes, not commercial.

Angels Camp man arrested

   On March 28, 2015 the Angels Camp Police Department arrested Frank Joseph Soja (37) of Angels Camp on Love Street for alleged Felony Violation of Parole.

   Soja was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

   After the prosecutor released information early this morning that they now have evidence that the co-pilot of the Lufthansa crashed flight may have been suffering from mental illness.

Injured Donkey in Madera

  March 27, 2015 at 6:30 AM;  A woman reported to CHP that she is with an injured donkey on Road 26 in Madera.

   Animal Control has been dispatched to the scene. It isn't clear if she hit the donkey on the roadway, but she is remaining with it until help arrives.  Be cautious if in that area.

Tracy the Bear tagged and released

   After being tranquilized and caught by California Fish and Wildlife officers, Tracy the Bear as she is now known, was transported and released unhurt in the mountains hours from the town of Tracy.

   They say she was a very young female and no one has any idea how she got to Tracy, the nearest natural habitat being either the Santa Cruz Mountains or the Stanislaus National Forest.

200 hens stolen

     A Santa Rosa man reported that his 200 special Easter hens, who lay light green, brown and chocolate colored eggs have been stolen.

   Not only does the family miss then hens, but at Easter time, they sell many of the colored eggs these special hens lay.

Collision in Lodi

   March 26, 2015 at 5:50 PM:  A traffic collision at Davis and Turner in Lodi has been reported between a Ford Tempo and a Ford Edge.

   An ambulance is responding due to a man with chest pains as a result of the collision.

Collision in Stockton requires Air ambulance

   March 26, 2015 at 5:50PM:  An air ambulance was required to assist an injured driver after a collision of a black car at Howard and Roberts, near the bridge in Stockton.

   Howard was shut down so the air ambulance could land and pick up the patient. 

Bicycle rider reports being hit

   March 26, 2015 at 5:30 PM:  CHP is currently at Pine Street near Mariposa in San Andreas where a report was made about a vehicle and a bicycle colliding.

   The drivers first name and an address was given to CHP to investigate. The cyclist suffered minor injuries which had apparently occurred at around 9 AM.

UPS package stolen from porch-Questionable neighbors??

  On March 25, 2015 a UPS package was reported stolen off the porch of a residence on West Point Pioneer Road in West Point.

    A resident on Little John road in Copperopolis reported someone came into his home and attacked him.

Burglary in Wallace

  On March 25, 2015 a residential burglary was reported on Ospital Road in Wallace.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took a report. No other details are known.

Bicyclist hit by pickup in Oakdale

   March 26, 2015 at 2:30 PM:  A bicyclist was hit by a pickup on River Road at Hwy 120 in Oakdale.

   CHP and an ambulance are en route to the scene. Slow down and watch around you when you drive.

Lexus run off the roadway by pickup

  March 26, 2015 at 12:35 PM:  A silver Lexus was reportedly run off the roadway by a yellow Dodge pickup at East Jahant Rd and Elliot Road in Acampo.

Minivan fails trying to make exit

   UPDATE at 2:15 PM:  This collision resulted in major injuries, with the minivan ending up 80' off the roadway.

Traffic call acutally medical call in Dorrington

   UPDATE:  A tow truck as been dispatched to pickup the Chevy Tahoe.  An ambulance took the driver to the hospital.

Jeep Overturns on Hwy 108

   March 26, 2015 at 10:50 AM:  A red Jeep Cherokee is reportedly overturned on Hwy 108 at Long Barn Road in Long Barn, blocking both lanes of traffic.

  UPDATE at 10:55 AM:  Now the dog is reportedly at Hwy 26 and Paloma Road.

Honda runs off road in Jenny Lind

  March 26, 2015 at 10:40 AM:  A grey Honda Accord has reportedly run off the roadway on Milton Road and Jenny Lind Road in Jenny Lind, after losing control.

   CHP is en route. A tow truck with a long cable has been dispatched to retrieve the car.  No injuries have been reported.

PIckup overturned on Sheep Ranch Road

   March 26, 2015 at 9: 30 AM:  A black pickup has reportedly overturned at Sheep Ranch Road and Avery-Sheep Ranch Road in the Sheep Ranch area.

   The pickup is apparently on its side with tools all over the roadway. CHP and other emergency personnel are en route. Be careful if headed that way.

  March 26, 2015 at 9:10 AM:  A black SUV has been reported on fire on Greenley Road near Cedar Road in Sonora.

   Emergency personnel are en route to the scene. Use caution if headed for that area.

Two car collision in Oakdale

   March 26, 2015 at 8:20 AM:  A turquoise Hummer and a white pickup have collided at Dunn Ranch Road and 26 Mile Road in Oakdale.

   Per CHP no injuries were reported and the vehicles are not currently blocking the roadway.

Car hits gas line in Valley Springs

  March 26, 2015 at 8:15 AM:  A car has apparently hit a gas line while backing out of a driveway on Dunn Road and Hatvickson in Valley Springs.

   Fire and other emergency personnel are en route to the scene. Avoid the area if possible.

Good news about the Tracy bear

   Last night wildlife authorities successfully tranquilized and capture the Tracy bear. It had been trying to hide up in a tree for over two hours prior to its capture.

   No one has any idea how the very young black bear got to Tracy, as they have never had a report of a bear in town before.

    The bear will be examined and treated and then taken to the mountains to be released into the wild if he is healthy enough.

Plane intentionally crashed?

   French authorities now say that the co-pilot of the plane that crashed into the French Alps intentionally locked the pilot out of the cockpit and began the descent of the plane.

   They reported that the pilot tried everything, including an attempt to break down the door, and that in the last minutes you can hear screaming by the passengers before the plane hit the side of the mountain.

   They have separated the co-pilot's family from the rest of the families and are questioning them. They do not believe it was actually a terrorist attack, but the act of one person, the co-pilot.

Calaveras Council of Governments meets

  On April 1, 2015 at 6:30 PM Calaveras Council of Governments (COG) meets in the Calaveras Supervisors Chambers in San Andreas.

   On the agenda is Transit, bus stops, $740,000 to Angels Camp and  $1,000,000 for bike lanes and trails to Angels Camp.

Collision in Escalon

   March 25, 2015 at 4 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported involving a Maroon Nissan and a white Honda on Escalon Bellota Road in Escalon.

   An ambulance and two tow trucks have been dispatched to the scene.

Heinz buys Kraft

  In a 40 billion dollar deal, Heinz is buying 51% of Kraft. The new company will be called Heinz Kraft.

   Kraft stockholders will receive around a $14.00 dividend per share in the deal. Kraft shares were up in early trading.

Yes! It's True! Ted Cruz going on Obamacare!

   Senator Ted Cruz, Presidential candidate, Tea Party darling and #1 hater of Obamacare, announced yesterday that since his wife was no longer working for Goldman Sachs, that they will be going on Obamacare.

   He made this announcement to CNN's Dana Bash, who got him to announce it yesterday. Now, will he still vote to destroy it???  Bash's jaw almost hit the floor when he actually admitted it.

Bowe Bergdahl - Charged with Desertion?

   Early reports from the military suggest that Bowe Bergdahl, who the US gave up 5 prisoners for in a swap last year, will be charged with DESERTION, and not just going AWOL.

   Several of his fellow soldiers will apparently be testifying against him if it goes to trial. He attorney is planning on making a statement later this afternoon.

Calaveras Supervisors take another month OFF

  It being Easter time and everything, the Calaveras Supervisors decided to cancel their March 31, 2015 evening meeting, to get a months rest--they are so tired.

  Although every single person in the audience spoke against this idea, that they needed to meet more regularly, they used the excuse that the agenda can be pushed to the April 2nd week meeting.

    So how many turkeys does it take to get a vacation--5 in this case, with Pontiff Ponte leading the charge. Perhaps she is visiting the Vatican!

Burglary to steal food in Railroad Flat

   On March 24, 2015 a burglary was reported by a resident on Independence Drive in Railroad Flat. Apparently canned goods had been taken by the burglar.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took no report on the incident.

Major injury collision in Acampo

   March 25, 2015 at 8:40 AM:  A traffic collision at Acampo Road and Bruella Road in Acampo has caused major injuries to one of those involved.

   A black Volkswagen and a silver GMC are now blocking both directions on Acampo.  A tow truck and an ambulance are en route to the scene.

Permits for fuel wood in Stanislaus


   If you want to collect wood fuel from the Stanislaus National Forest, be sure to go to the District offices in the area to get a permit.

  Permits are $25 for 2 and 1/2 cords. The rules are strictly enforced in Calaveras and Tuolumne counties.

Stabbing in Railroad Flat

      The Calaveras Sheriff's Office says that they responded to Lakeside Mobil Home Park in Railroad Flat on March 23, 2015 around 9:08 PM for a report of a stabbing .

Bear in downtown Tracy

   Last night there were two reports of a bear sighting in Tracy. One person snapped this photo which the Tracy Police Department released.

   Fish and Wildlife were notified.  If you see the bear, which appears to be young and hungry, call the Tracy Police Department.

Five vehicle traffic collision

   March 24, 2015 at 3:40 PM:  A five-vehicle traffic collision has been reported on eastbound Hwy 120 at the Hwy 99 interchange in Manteca.

   CHP is en route to the scene. Vehicles are going out into the dirt to pass this collision. Be careful if headed in that direction.

Overturned vehicle on fire in Atwater

   March 24, 2015 at 2 PM:  CHP are at the scene of an overturned vehicle that caught on fire at Santa Fe Drive and Chestnut Lane in Atwater.

    An ambulance, fire and tow truck are also en route to the scene.  Be careful if in that area.

Dog locked in cage

   March 24, 2015 at 2 PM:  Stanislaus Animal Control is en route after 911 received a call of a dog locked in a cage without food or water for at least a week at Crows Landing Road and Hwy 33 in Crows Landing.

   Reading more animal cruelty stories should never surprise any of us, as there are just way too many crazy lunatics running loose out there. Watch your animals closely. One could be your neighbor!!

Major Injuries in Modesto crash

   A traffic collision at Langworth Road and Milnes Road in Modesto earlier this morning resulted in major injuries for one person.

   CHP is still investigating after the injured was taken to the hospital and a tow truck was dispatched.

Burglary in Mokelumne Hill

   On March 23, 2015 a burglary was reported by a resident on Lombardi Drive in Mokelumne Hill. No report was taken by the Calaveras Sheriff.

Reports of Gunfire in Copperopolis

   On March 23, 2015 between 5:45 and 7:05 PM several reports of gunfire were reported to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office from residents on Feather Drive, Sequoia Circle Court, Morado Circle and Obyrnes Ferry Road.

   According to the log, NO report was taken on these gunfire reports. Finally, at 7:05 PM a deputy was supposed to contact the shooters to make sure they are shooting safely.  However, the log indicates NO REPORT TAKEN.

Attempted Murder in Railroad Flat?

  On March 23, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's department arrested Taylor Michael Baird (20) of San Andreas, in Railroad Flat for alleged Attempted Murder, a felony.

   Baird was booked into the Calaveras County Jail. No other details are known at this time.

Car runs off Hwy 49

   March 24, 2015 at 8:55 AM:  A car has run off Hwy 49 and 50' down an embankment near Darrah Road in the Mariposa area.

   An ambulance and tow truck are en route to the scene. Use extra caution if headed in that direction.

Taxi vs pickup in Turlock

   UPDATE:  CHP cancelled the helicopter and now have indicated no injuries in this collision and that the roadway is now clear.

Collision on Hwy 99

  March 24, 2015 at 7:20 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on northbound Hwy 99 near the Hwy 26 offramp in Stockton.

   One man is reportedly inside a vehicle facing the wrong way in the center divide. CHP is en route.

   March 24, 2015 at 7:15 AM:  Rocks have been reported on Hwy 12 near Central Hill Road just outside San Andreas.

Head-on Collision on Hwy 4

   March 23, 2015 at 6:15 PM:  A head on traffic collision was reported at Hwy 4 and Milton Road below Copperopolis.

   No injuries were reported, but both vehicles have major front end damage. Use caution in that area.

Arrest for Battery at TowerMart

   On March 22, 2015 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Anthony John Colagross (25) of Murphys at the TowerMart in Murphys for alleged Battery with Serious Bodily Injury, a felony and for Disorderly Conduct due to Alcohol and Obstructing or Resisting Arrest, both misdemeanors.

   Colagross was booked into the Calaveras County Jail and released on bond.

Sheriff' Volunteers at Irish Days

   This group of Calaveras Sheriff Volunteers assisted with traffic control at this past Saturday's Irish Day festivities.

Candle Causes Fire at Oddfellows Hall

   According to CalFire, on March 20, 2015 around 8:39 PM they responded to a structure fire at the Oddfellows Hall on the 22000 block of Conifer Court in Long Barn.

   The cause of the fire was determined to be a candle. Before it was extinguished damage was done to contents, wall covering and electrical wiring in the bathroom, per the report.

Fed-Ex bruilding giant complex in Tracy

   Fed-Ex broke ground on Friday for the 600,000 sq. ft. facility they are building in Tracy.

   It will be a distribution facility and will hire at least 300 employees.

Sheriff's Deputy arrested in Placerville

   An El Dorado County Sheriff's deputy was arrested for alleged domestic violence at his home in Placerville, after an investigation.

    Shane Humbird (36) was booked into the El Dorado County Jail.

High School classes cancelled after body found in pool

   A man's body was found in Piedmont High School's outdoor pool on Friday. The school in San Jose was closed down for the day as a result.

   An investigation is underway to identify and discover how the man's body got into the pool.

Governor Brown: Ted Cruz Unfit!

   Governor Brown was on 60 minutes this morning to discuss Climate Change. Brown made fun of Ted Cruz, who terrified a 3 year old girl earlier this week by saying "the World in on Fire".

Irish Day pretty wild for Sheriff in Murphys

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office was kept busy late on Irish Day in Murphys after receiving complaints of two women passed out in front of a Main Street winery, and 2-4 males lying in the middle of the roadway.

   There were also calls for disturbances on Main Street due to physical altercations and arrests for public intoxication. Apparently a good time was not had by all and the Calaveras Sheriff was kept busy.

   March 22, 2015 at 7:45 AM:  Two vehicles have reportedly overturned on Hatch and Charles in Hughson. CHP is shutting down the roadway while they assist the injured.

Tuolumne County Supervisor blames Rim Fire Size on Wild & Scenic

   Due to the Special Meeting that the Calaveras Supervisors called to vote for AB 142, we heard a Tuolumne County Supervisor talk about the Rim Fire.

   He said that while he is proud of the Tuolumne River in their county being Wild and Scenic, the USFS was unable to drop retardant on the fire early on due to rules about NO RETARDANT near any streams that flow into the Tuolumne River.

    That explains why the hunter may get out of trouble since it appeared that the USFS was allowing the fire to get out of control instead of using bombers to put it out in its early stages. OMG!!

Traffic Collision on Hwy 99

   March 21, 2015 at 5 PM:  CHP are now trying to clear the roadway after a traffic collision at Hwy 99 and Beckwith Road in Modesto.

    The Beckwith offramp had to be closed while one patient with major injuries was taken to a hospital.  Traffic was backed up approximately a mile, but should be moving normally now.

  On Monday, March 23, 2015 at 7 PM the Jackson City Council in Amador County meets at City Hall on Broadway in Jackson.

   The Stanislaus National Forest just released an announcement that it is holding forums this spring to figure out how to pay to reforest the Rim Fire area. 257,000 acres plus.

Fire in MiWuk

   CalFire responded to a report of a fire in the 23000 block of Yellow Pine Road in MiWuk on March 18, 2015.

   An escaped and unattended debris burn was the cause that burned approximately 1/4 acre of woodlands before being extinguished.

Elk Grove Shcool District hiring

  If you are an out-of-work teacher or assistant in Calaveras County you might consider traveling to Elk Grove today or tomorrow.

   They are holding hiring fairs both days at the Robert L. Trigg Certified Education Center on Elk Grove-Florin Road.  Today from 3 to 7 PM is for non-teaching jobs. Saturday is from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM for certified teachers.

   On March 19, 2015 a burglary was reported at a residence on Woodhouse Mine Road in West Point.

Embezzlement Arrest in Arnold

   On March 19, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Patricia Shirley Schlueter (45) of Arnold, at her residence on El Dorado for alleged Embezzlement and Grand Theft, both felonies.

   Schlueter was booked into the Calaveras County Jail and released on bond.

Arrest on Burson Road

   On March 19, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Norman Saunders (62) of Valley Springs at his residence on Burson Road for alleged Assault with a Firearm on a Person and Threatening a Crime with the Intent to Terrorize, both felonies.

   Saunders was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

   March 20, 2015 at 8:55 AM:  An early morning traffic collision at Mitchell Avenue and Turner Road in the Hilmar area has resulted in one fatality per CHP.

Garamendi Matriarch Passes

   On March 19, 2015 Mary Jane McSorley Garamendi, Matriarch of the Garamendi Family and lifelong resident of Calaveras County, passed away at her home in Chili Gulch, near Mokelumne Hill at the age of nearly 94.

Citizens case against City of Angels Camp

  On April 8, 2015 the citizens case against the City of Angels Camp involving their alleged mishandling of the Lighting District and it's money at Greenhorn Creek.

   Residents Difu, Croletto, Turco and Rosatto are the brave citizens who dared to sue a City. The case number is 13cv-39523 and will be heard in Calaveras Superior Court in San Andreas.

   Many residents allege corruption within the City and its handling of many issues; racism, playing business special favors, intentional  DOWN-zoning of landowners to harm property values and on and on.

Grand Theft reported in Arnold

  On March 18, 2015 a Grand Theft was reported on Hwy 4 in Arnold. It isn't indicated whether it was a business or residence.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took the report.

Three vehicles collide in Merced

   March 19, 2015 at 10 AM:  A three vehicle collision has been reported on Hwy 59 and Sandy Mush Road in Merced.  This is not far from a previously reported car fire. The don't seem to be related.

   A person in the white Toyota that was involved was injured and an ambulance is en route to the scene. A gray Ford pickup and a silver sedan were also involved in the crash.

Two collisions on Hwy 99

   March 19, 2015 at 8:30 AM:  CHP was just trying to clear away a traffic collision involving multiple vehicles at Hwy 99 and Woodbridge Road in the Atwater area when another collision occurred at the same place.

   The first one resulted in no injuries. One of the vehicles involved in the 2nd crash was a yellow pickup that apparently didn't notice the crash ahead of them.  It isn't yet known if there are injuries in the 2nd crash.

Atwater Police crash

   March 18, 2015 at 5:25 PM:  A traffic crash at Granite Drive and East Bellevue Road in Atwater has left one person with major injuries. That person has been transported to the hospital.

   One of the vehicles involved was an Atwater Police Cruiser. Use caution as they are trying to investigate and clear the debris from the roadway.

Two die in a Vineyard

   The story of a chase through a vineyard after a financial battle between the owner and an investor of a Napa Valley winery ended with both men dead, according to authorities.

   The two men had been in court and the battle between them came to a head, with the owner chasing the investor through the vineyard, shooting him at close range and then committing suicide as law enforcement closed in on him.. Sounds like a Hollywood movie to come, doesn't it?

Crash in Delhi

   March 18, 2015 at 10:30 AM:  Emergency crews are at the scene of a traffic  collision between a white mini-van and a grey sedan at Cortez Avenue and Bradbury Road in Delhi.

    An ambulance and two tow trucks were required. Three CHP units are currently at the scene. Use caution if headed to that area.

   March 18, 2015 at 10:15 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 108 and Jamestown Road in Jamestown.

Sierra-at Tahoe suspends skiing

   For the first time ever, Sierra-at Tahoe has been forced to suspend skiing at the resort, due to the drought.

Man arrested in Valley Springs

   On March 15, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Officer arrested George Aliven Hubbs (68) of Valley Springs at his home for alleged Infliction of Corporal Injury on a Spouse, a felony.

   Hubbs was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

West Point man arrested

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office on March 16, 2015 they arrested Francisco Javier Cardenas II (28 of West Point at his home for alleged Torture, Kidnapping, Assault to Commit Rape, False Imprisonment with Violence, Battery with Serious Bodily Injury, Infliction of Corporal Injury on a Spouse and Rape by Force with Fear, all felonies.

   Cardenas was booked into the Calaveras County Jail by Calaveras Sheriff's Deputies.

Campground to open late

   According to BLM, the South Yuba Campground by the Yuba River in Nevada County will open late this year due to campground road improvements and culvert replacement.

   This project is scheduled to begin around April 20, 2015 and be completed by June 3, 2015.

Escaped Fire in Wilseyville

   According to CalFire on March 13, 2015 around 2:35 PM they responded to a grass fire in the 400 block of Rabbits Foot Road in Wilseyville.

   Debris burning with inadequate clearance was determined to be the cause. 1/8 acre of brush and ground litter was burned before being extinguished by 2 engines and a water tender.

   It is recommended that drivers avoid Hwy 12 west past Lodi until the work on the Hwy 12 bridge at the Calaveras River is complete.

   This could continue for a few months. Delays in the area are reportedly long.

Cameron Park house burns, man arrested

   Another home in El Dorado County went up in flames after a shootout with police early this morning.

   Neighbors in Cameron Park report that they heard man shots fired. The man in the house was arrested by El Dorado County Sheriff's Deputies.  The home may be a total loss.

Car hits bank on Parrotts Ferry Road

   March 16, 2015 at 6:55 AM:  A blue car has reportedly crashed into an embankment on Parrotts Ferry Road not far from the bridge.

Rim Fire now a Desert larger than New York

hunting be banned for 60 years. The animals
all died too, in that holocaust.
   According to the Stanislaus National Forest district, it will take over 60 years to bring the Stanislaus back to a natural forest, and the desolation is bigger than the size of New York City.

   That means most of us won't even live to see most of it ever again!

   They are moving ahead with re-forestation, but what that hunter is alleged to have done to our beautiful Stanislaus is the most horrifying thing to happen to our entire area.  Is he is prison??

Car vs Pole in West Point

  March 15, 2015 at 3 PM:  A vehicle has overturned into a power pole at Hwy 26 and Winton Road in West Point.

   Emergency personnel, including an ambulance are en route to the scene. Be careful if headed for that area.

Colorado Sanctuary getting 33 more lions

   In Keenesburg, Colorado are 60 lions living in a 35 year old sanctuary.  Now they will receive 33 more from Peru.

   They have been rescued from zoos and circuses where they have been starved and abused.

Traffic Collision in Lodi

Short Racist Troll follows others around...HIC!

   Sadly, the crazy racist troll of Ebbetts Pass, can't find his rock to climb back under yet, so he's trying to take his short body all over looking for it. Has he shot at our President lately?  We know he wants to.

   Unable to speak properly, ugly and totally alcohol-crazed, he will suddenly appear, making a fool of himself and others he follows.  A sick, racist alcoholic is not worth a second of anyone's time. UH, HIC!!!

Hit and Run in San Andreas

   March 15, 2015 at 10 AM:  CHP received a report that a vehicle ran over a fencepost and cracked the top of a septic tank on Murray Creek Road in San Andreas, but when the owner ran out the vehicle left without stopping.

   CHP is en route to the scene.  It isn't clear if there is any identification of the vehicle involved.

Million dollar Lottery ticket expires

   A California lottery ticket drawn back in September of 2014 will be donated to California schools because whoever purchased it failed to claim their million dollar prize.

   The ticket was purchased in the Santa Fe Springs area. Officials say one person came in about the ticket but were unable to furnish the ticket to prove their claim.

Traffic Collision in Acampo

   March 14, 2015 at 12:20 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported on southbound Hwy 99 at Acampo Road in Acampo.

   An ambulance and other emergency personnel are en route to the scene. Use extra caution in that area as one lane is blocked.

Person staggering on Hwy 4 in Murphys

   March 14, 2015 at 11:25 AM:  A person has been reported staggering on Hwy 4 near Big Trees Road in Murphys.

   And it isn't even St. Patty's Day yet!  Use caution if in that area. CHP is en route.

Collision on Hwy 108

   March 14, 2015 at 11:20 AM:  A collision was just reported at Hwy 108 and Obyrnes Ferry Road in Jamestown.

   It isn't yet known if there are injuries as CHP is still en route to the scene. Avoid the area if possible.

Collision on Hwy 120

   March 14, 2015 at 11:15 AM:  A collision has been reported at Hwy 120 and River Road in Oakdale between a gray Ion  and a white Dodge.

   No injuries have been reported. A tow truck is responding. Careful if in that area.

Copperopolis man Arrested

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff's Department, on March 13, 2015 William John Hancock (56) of Copperopolis, was arrested at the Calaveras Superior Court for allegedly Threatening a Crime with the Intent to Terrorize, Attempt to prevent or Dissuade a Victim and False Imprisonment with the threat of Violence, all felonies and for Battery on a Spouse or Ex-Spouse, a misdemeanor.

   Hancock was booked into the Calaveras County Jail and released on Bond.

Car hits gate at Bear Valley

   March 16, 2015 at 8:30 AM:  CHP is en route to the scene of a vehicle that ran into a gate on Quaking Aspen Drive and Bear Valley Road in Bear Valley.

   No injuries were reported.  Apparently the vehicle is drivable.

Two die in Nevada City house fire!

   A fire in a Nevada City home near Hwy 49 was fully engulfed when emergency personnel arrived and they were unable to rescue two who were trapped.

   The mother of at least one called the fire department. It isn't yet known what caused the fire.

Car hits dog, owner goes after driver

  March 13, 2015 at 2 PM:  CHP is en route to the scene of a vehicle that hit a dog on Hwy 49 and Hwy 26 in Mokelumne Hill.

   The driver apparently hit the dog near Gold Strike Road and Hwy 49 and the owner of the dog was yelling so bad that she was afraid to stop nearby and stopped up the road to call.

Drugs Brought to Jail alleged

   On March 11, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Blake Jordan Beilstein (24) of Stockton on Hogan Dam Road in Valley Springs, for allegedly bringing a Controlled Substance into the Jail,

Arrest for Drugs with Firearm

  According to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office, Kent Leroy Dayton (50) of Valley Springs was arrested on Baldwin Street for allegedly Using a Controlled Substance while in Possession of a Firearm, a felony.

   Dayton was booked into the Calaveras County Jail by deputies.

Permits required for collecting Mushrooms

   As of March 16, 2015 applications for permits for collecting mushrooms in the Stanislaus National Forest will be available.

   They will be available at all district offices.
