Governor Brown issues 25% mandatory water cut

   Today was the day that Governor Brown went to the scene and stood in brown grass while the snow depth tests were being made at Echo Summit.

   The snow level was the lowest in California history.  This is the fourth year of the current drought and Brown is demanding a 25% mandatory cut across the board for businesses, residents and farmers.

Fire in Copperopolis

   On March 31, 2015 at around 2:45 PM CalFire responded to a grass fire reported in the 1200 block of Acorn Street in Copperopolis.

   Apparently a stump hole which had been left 2 days prior, escaped and 1/4 acre was burned before it was extinguished.

  

Traffic Collision in San Andreas

   April 1, 2015 at 12:30 PM:  CHP are en route to a traffic collision reported on Russell Road in San Andreas.

   No injuries were reported in this collision.

Motorcycle crash-Major injuries

  April 1, 2015 at 12:15 PM:  CHP is just now clearing a motorcycle collision at northbound I-5 and East Roth Road in Lathrop. Traffic was backed up for nearly an hour.

  The freeway was blocked as people stopped to try to help the cyclist, who went down and hit the wall.  He was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries.

   UPDATE: This has been changed to a no injury accident per CHP.

CCWD refuses to lower rates immediately!!

   The Calaveras County Water District sent out a Press Release stating that they have voted to forego the additional water and sewer rate increases planned in September of 2015. HUH???
  Since we were aware that Directors Strange and Mills had voted to lower rates

Anthony Serva of Angels Camp

   Anthony Michael Serva died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday March 28, 2015 at his home in Angels Camp. He was 56 years old.

   Anthony was born on September

Traffic Collision on Hwy 99 and Main

   April 1, 2015 at 9:30 AM:  CHP and an ambulance are en route to a reported traffic collision at Hwy 99 and the Main Street offramp in Stockton.

   Apparently a Honda hit the center divide and crashed. Be extra careful if headed to that area.

Grandson of J. Paul Getty found dead

   Andrew Getty, 47 year old grandson of oil tycoon J. Paul Getty was found dead inside his home in Los Angeles yesterday, according to authorities.

   Apparently a bottle of medication was found near his body, but police were going to have to speak to his physician to see if he had been ill.  Reporters swarmed the front of the Getty home.

Sierra MacIntosh Users Group meets

   On April 14, 2015 at 7 PM the Sierra MacIntosh Users Group (SMUG) meets at the Ebbetts Pass Fire Station on Blagen Road in Arnold for their monthly meeting.

   All are welcome. The topic will be using iPads in more ways and the speaker will be Brian Thomas, Director of Instructional Technology for Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools.

Avery Dump calls Sheriff--rude customer

   On March 31, 2015 someone working at the Avery Dump on Segale Road called the Calaveras Sheriff to report that a customer was rude to the attendant and refusing to show I.D.

   The Sheriff took no report on the incident.  NO! This is not an April Fools Joke!

Grand Theft reported in Arnold

  On March 31, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff received a call that a grand theft had taken place at the residence on Valley View Drive in Arnold.

   The Sheriff's Office took a report. No other details have been released at this time.

Black Cow on Hwy 12

   April 1, 2015 at 8:25 AM:  CHP is en route to Hwy 12 and Mackville Road in Clements where a black cow is reportedly in the roadway.

   Use caution in the area until they can locate the owner and round up the bovine.
