Hastert paid to hide Sexual Relationship with male student?

   The former Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Dennis Hastert, was indicted by a Grand Jury yesterday.

   The question was why did he pay someone to keep quiet.  Today a Federal law enforcement made public that he was hiding a sexual relationship by paying a man who was at one time a student at a school where he once taught.

Three vehicle collision on Hwy 99

   May 29, 2015 at 11:10 AM:  A three vehicle collision has been reported on Hwy 99 northbound at Hwy 120.

   No injuries have been indicated and the roadway is not blocked. CHP is en route to the scene.

Injured fox in Oakdale

   May 29, 2015 at 10:45 AM: An injured fox has been reported to CHP at Orange Blossom and Sonora Road in Oakdale.

   Two other foxes are hanging around the injured fox, per a witness. Animal control has been advised. Use extra caution if in that area.

Child on bicycle hit by vehicle

   May 29, 2015 at 8:55 AM:  A child on a bicycle in front of Bethany School on Escuela Drive in Tracy, was struck by a vehicle.

   A witness said the vehicle left the area and that the child is in the school office. An ambulance is en route. The whereabouts of the bicycle is unknown at this time.

Fatality after collision on Hwy 108

   According to a CHP report, on May 28, 2015 at approximately 12:10 PM a resident of Tucson, Arizona (no name given) was driving a 2012 ford F150 westbound on Hwy 108 near Wheeler Road in Miwuk Village.

Firearms arrest in Railroad Flat

   On May 28, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Michael Stephen McKinney (39) of Railroad Flat at his residence on Independence Road for allegedly Shooting at an Inhabited Residence or vehicle, Assault with a Firearm on a Person, Causing Harm or Death to Edlerly Dependent and Willful Discharge of a Firearm, all Felonies, and for Battery on a Peace Officer during an emergency and Obstructing or Resisting Arrest, both misdemeanors.

  McKinney was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

  May 29, 2015 at 6:50 AM:  A ladder has been reported in the lanes on southbound Hwy 99 near Hatch Road in Modesto.

   We just learned that Dennis Hastert, retired Speaker of the House, was indicted on charges of lying to the FBI about some money he allegedly paid someone in his hometown in Illinois to keep quiet.

   The best way to get caught if you are breaking a law, is to lie to the FBI. They'll get you for that one.

All outdoor residential burning BANNED!!

  Due to drought conditions increasing the fire danger, CAL FIRE has suspended all burn permits for outdoor open residential burning within the State Responsibility Area. You know, the ones who pay $  150 per residence extra to the state.

    Therefore as of June 1, 2015 all outdoor burning of landscape debris including branches and leaves, is banned. One less spark is one less wildfire.

Calaveras Council of Governments meets

   On Wednesday, June 3, 2015 the Calaveras Council of Governments will meet in San Andreas.

   The meeting begins at 6 PM in the Calaveras Supervisors Chambers at government center. Their agenda is full, but is so vague, its hard to tell you what specific items will be discussed or voted on.

11 million try for Spelling Bee

   Around 11 million took part nationwide and 300 made it to the finals in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which began today in Maryland.

   CalFire responded to a report of a fire on Hwy 120 in Jamestown around 3 PM on May 26, 2015.

   A debris burn out of hours and not attended, had escaped and burned 1/2 acre before fire officials were able to extinguish it.

   A man with a Caltrans vest on, attempted to steal this antique wagon from in front of a café in Sonora earlier today.

   Arrested was Darrell Parsons, who police say is NOT a Caltrans employee.

Man dies on birthday, carrying rock while swimming

  It may be hard to believe, but authorities revealed that a 21 year old man, was swimming across one of the dredging ponds at the Oroville Wildlife area while carrying a large rock yesterday, May 25, 2015.

   He went down not long after he was seen swimming, and was not able to recover. It was his birthday.   Why he was trying to carry a rock across the pond is unclear.

Fire in Hughson

   May 26, 2015 at 12:35 PM:  A fire has been reported at Fox Grove Access and Geer Road in the Hughson area, near the river.

   Stanislaus County Fire is responding to the scene. No other details available.

Bus and pickup collide

   May 26, 2015 at 12:30 PM:  A bus and a pickup have reportedly collided on southbound Hwy 99 at Eight Mile Road in Stockton.

   No injuries have been reported. A tow truck is responding. The vehicles are parked on the right hand side, so use caution if you're going through the area.

Pickup and Motorcycle crash at Bass Lake

UPDATE:  The Starke County Sheriff's Office reports that William Wagner (55) of Bass Lake, passed away at the hospital after hitting a tree when ejected from the motorcycle.

Boulder blocking Hwy 108

   May 26, 2015 at 10 AM:  Caltrans has been called out to move a large boulder that is blocking Hwy 108 at Kennedy Meadows.

   Both westbound lanes are currently blocked by the boulder, so use extra caution if heading in that direction.

   With George Clooney as the star, Disney's "Tomorrowland" adventure flick took the four day top box office for Memorial Day weekend.

   May 26, 2015 at 6:55 AM:  Per a witness, a gold sedan apparently lost control, hit the center divide and then went back across the right hand lanes, striking a grey sedan on Hwy 99 near the Hwy 120 exit in Manteca.

Van on Fire in Altaville

   UPDATE:  Altaville Fire did an excellent job of putting out the fire. The fire was contained to the vehicle, fortunately. Hwy 49 is now clear.

Rolling Stones concert in San Diego

  Last night, May 24, 2015 the Rolling Stones held a concert as part of their Zip Code Tour; this one in San Diego.

   They were, of course, sold out and fans said they performed their greatest hits. Their next concert in in Ohio.

Paul Simon has Napolean Complex??

   It seems that even 45 years after their breakup, there are still hard feelings between Paul Simon and his partner Art Garfunkel, once the phenomenally popular Simon and Garfunkel.

     We have been told that Garfunkel believes that Simon has a Napolean complex about being so short and that it fermented towards Art Garfunkel, who it tall. Well, he is very short! Who knows??

Arrest on Dogtown Road

   On May 24, 2015 at around 9 AM  the Angels Camp Police Department arrested Hollie Rene Hamilton, (36) of Angels Camp on Dogtown Road for alleged Vandalism over $400 and Threatening a crime with the Intent to Terrorize, both felonies.

   Hamilton was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Herons and Egrets abused by humans?

nesting areas are disappearing and
their young are often unwelcome
by some cruel humans.
   A neighborhood in Natomas, near Sacramento, are very concerned that humans are the cause of many fledgling egrets and herons falling and dying.

   The concern is that some human is causing the dozens of deaths in some way because they don't like the droppings the beautiful birds leave on their cars.

Car fire starts brush fire in Hughson

   May 24, 2015 at 7:40 PM:  A car fire at Geer and Hatch roads in Hughson started a brush fire. All passengers escaped the vehicle ok.

   Emergency fire vehicles are responding, in addition to CHP. This is near the Tuolumne River.

Collision in Escalon

   May 24, 2015 at 7:20 PM:  A traffic collision was reportedly caused by one vehicle crossing over the double yellow lines at River Road and McHenry Road in Escalon.

Nobel prize winner dies in car crash

  UPDATE:  We learned that Mr. Nash was not driving. He and his wife were in the back of a taxi that crashed.

    He and his wife were both killed earlier today in an automobile accident in New Jersey. He was 86.

   On May 23, 2015 a burglary was reported by a business on California Street in Valley Springs.

Car in flames on Hwy 99

   May 24, 2015 at 5 PM:  A car reportedly crossed all lanes on traffic and crashed into the bushes on Hwy 99 southbound at Main Street in Manteca.

     Fire just responded to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.  The number 3 lane is blocked. It isn't yet known about injuries. Be extra cautious if in that area.

   May 24, 2015 at 3:25 PM:  A two vehicle accident has been reported on Lathrop Road in Manteca, where one vehicle ended up in someone's yard and another hit a pole.

   Injuries were minor. PG&E was notified of possible damage.

   May 24, 2015 at 12 Noon:  CHP is at the scene of a traffic collision at Hwy 26 and Shelley Road in Linden where a Nissan Altima and a Dodge pickup collided.

   The westbound lane is blocked while the vehicle is hooked up and towed. No injuries have  been reported, but a lot of yelling is going on apparently.

Attention Drinkers and users--Stay Home

   The Angels Camp Police Department is doing a crackdown on DUI over the Memorial Day Weekend, May 22 through May 25, 2015.

   There will be checkpoints so either stay home or designate a sober driver to avoid arrest or worse yet, a tragedy.  Call 911 if you suspect someone is driving with under the influence.

Firefighters in Lockeford seeking donations

  May 23, 2015 at 2 PM:  Someone called CHP to report a traffic hazard in Lockeford. It turned out they were stopping cars to get donatons to fill the boot.

   UPDATE:  An AT&T phone box was hit and a telephone pole. They were notified of the damage.

Traffic Collision in Lodi

   May 23, 2015 at 8:50 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Live Oak Drive in Lodi, near Hwy 99.

   Two CHP unites and an ambulance are en route to the scene. Use caution if in that area.

California elephants need our help!

Hard to believe, these gentle, intelligent

   Believe it or not, even here in California elephants are continuously mistreated; shocked, jabbed with bullhooks, and generally abused in order to get them to perform.

CCWD holding regular meeting May 27, 2015

   CCWD (Calaveras County Water District) will be holding their regular meeting on May 27, 2015 at their Toma Court offices in San Andreas at 9 AM.

   On the agenda is high school scholarship awards and joining other water organizations, paying dues, etc.

Traffic collision in Valley Springs

  May 22, 2015 at 3:15 PM:  A traffic collision involving a vehicle pulling a trailer has been reported at Hwy 12 and Lime Creek Road in Valley Springs.

   No injuries were indicated. A tow truck is responding to the scene.

What kind of man makes terrorist threats??

   The mother of an Orangevale man who Roseville Police allege made terrorist threats was asked why he would do that. They searched his engine shop before he was arrested.

   His mother says "He's nuts! He needs his medication." was what she said. Called him "a little tweaked."  Neighbors say "he's got a mouth."  His mother says "there is no freedom of speech now, since 9/11."   Do you know anyone like that around here? We do!!

   May 22, 2015 at 11:55 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at New Chicago Road and Turner Road in Sutter Creek.

   CHP and an ambulance are responding to the scene.

Collision in Copperopolis

   UPDATE:  This collision has been cleared by CHP.

 May 22, 2015 at 8:15 AM:  A car was reported in danger of going off the side of a hill after a collision on Copper Cove Drive and Obyrnes Ferry Road in Copperopolis.

   Fire and CHP are on scene to assist. No injuries have been indicated.

Running red light causes crash

  May 22, 2015 at 8 AM:  A maroon Toyota truck reportedly ran a red light and hit a blue Chevy Equinox at Hwy 108 and Mono Way in Sonora.

   No injuries have been indicated, but use caution if in the area.

Collision on Eight Mile Road

   May 22, 2015 at 6 AM:  CHP is at the scene of a traffic collision on Eight Mile Road at Hwy 99 northbound where a Range Rover ran off the roadway into a ditch in the Lodi area.

   An ambulance and tow truck are also responding.  Use extra caution if headed for that area.

   CCWD (Calaveras County Water District) is holding a Special Meeting tomorrow, May 22, 2015 at 2 PM at their office on Toma Court in San Andreas.

    The agenda says (ooh) Closed Session for a threat of a law suit.  Could it be due to their overwhelming drought rules?  They are keeping it secret.

  May 21, 2015 at 1:55 PM:  PG&E has been called about some type of traffic hazard on Copper Cove Drive at Obyrnes Ferry Road in Copperopolis.

Overturned Vehicle in Jamestown

      May 21, 2015 at 1:45 PM:  An overturned vehicle has been reported at Hwy 108 and Main Street in Jamestown.

   CHP is at the scene. A tow truck has been dispatched. No injuries were reported. Be extra cautious if in that area.

Another Drug Rehab in Arnold District 3?

   There's a lot of worried talk around Arnold lately about another drug rehab unit being opened up off Manuel Road in Arnold, just down from B of A. It is big business to house people in drug rehab.

   Residents in the Mill Woods subdivision are concerned about such a facility being added in District 3.  There is currently one on Hwy 4 near the Red Apple subdivision in District 3. Some say there is a lot of money to be made in this thriving industry.

Traffic Collision on Hwy 26

   May 21, 2015 at 12:50 PM:  CHP is at the scene of a traffic collision that occurred at Hwy 26 and Jack Tone Road between Linden and Stockton.

   Minor injuries have been reported. Use extra caution in that area until clear.

Rand Paul protest: "Patriot Act is NOT patriotic"

   On May 20, 2015 Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky spend nearly 11 hours speaking as a protest of the possible continuing of the Patriot Act.

   The SierraSentinel.com agrees with Senator Paul that the Patriot Act is anything but patriotic, as were most things, like sending thousands of our boys to die and be maimed for a false war, during the term of President George Bush.

Heart Attack may have caused collision

  May 21, 2015 at 8 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Claribel and Litt Road in the Riverbank area.

   An ambulance is en route due to one persons reporting a possible heart attack causing the collision. Use extra caution if in the area.

Overturned car on Hwy 99

   May 21, 2015 at 6:35 AM:  CHP is en route to the scene of an overturned car at Hwy 99 southbound at Monte Vista Avenue in Turlock.

   It isn't yet know if there are injuries, but one witness says the driver is trapped inside the vehicle.  Use extra caution if headed in that direction.

Collision on Hwy 99 at Hwy 4

  May 20, 2015 at 3:30 PM:  A collision has been reported at Hwy 99 south at Hwy 4 east in Stockton.

   CHP arrived at the scene quickly and cleared the collision. No injuries have been indicated.

USDA says "slash and burn" best way to handle forest during drought?

   The US Department of Agriculture; you know, the ones who pay assassins to go out and kill innocent animals, now say the best way to provide more water is to burn the forest.

   This is because the billionaire corporate farmers in the valley need more water cheap or free in order to ship their products overseas. The USDA is helping by recommending slashing and burning in our forests.

Three vehicle collision in Pioneer

  UPDATE at 3:30 PM:  Some type of fire vehicle is involved and overturned.  CHP indicates this is a major injury collision.

New Melones Lake Marina opening

   On May 22, 2015 at 5 PM the new New Melones Lake Marina will officially open, with Supervisor Debbie Ponte cutting the ribbon.
