Friends of the Fair meet

   Although they must be exhausted, the Friends of the Fair will hold their regular meeting on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.

   It begins at 6 PM at Camps Restaurant in Angels Camp . The public is welcome to attend.

Hitchhikers on Hwy 99

   May 18, 2015 at 1 PM:  Two hitchhikers have been reported with backpacks, sprawled out on the side of the road at Hwy99 at Jack Tone Road in Manteca.

   Use extra caution if headed that way until CHP can move them off the roadway.

Twisted Oak Winery concerts

   Twisted Oak Winery, 4280 Red Hill Road in Vallecito at Hwy 4 will present the Leftover Cuties in concert on Saturday May 30, 2015 at 7:45 PM.

    Tickets at $25 in advance or $30 at the door, if available. Children 12 and under at $10 and all proceeds from children's tickets goes to supporting music education in local schools.

Traffic Collision in Mokelumne Hill

   May 18, 2015 at 12 Noon:  CHP is at the scene of a traffic accident where a vehicle went into a ditch and rolled over on Hwy 49 at Center Street in Mokelumne Hill.

   A tow truck was dispatched. No injuries were reported, but the driver can't find her dog that was in the vehicle with her.

Motorcycle Collision causes Major Injuries

   According to a CHP report on May 15, 2015 at approximately 2:25 PM Steven Burrows (60) of Fresno, was driving a 1991 Harley Davidson motorcycle heading north on Hwy 49 at Victoria Way in Jamestown.

Another Head-on crash on Hwy 50 kills 2

    May 18, 2015:   Hwy 50 was closed for hours again this morning in Sacramento due to yet another head-on crash involving three vehicles, just two miles from the last wrong-way driver crash.

   One man was pronounced dead at the scene and another died at the hospital.  The CHP is investigating whether this one was also a wrong-way driver. A third person was injured, but will survive.

Traffic Collision in Columbia

   May 18, 2015 at 10:30 AM:  CHP is at Airport Road and Horseshoe Bend Road  in Columbia where a car hit a pole that was protecting propane tanks.

   A tow truck was dispatched due to the car  now being up on a rock. No injuries were reported in the collision.

Major Injury collision alcohol related per CHP

    According to a CHP report, on May 16, 2015 around 1 PM Joseph B Threadgill (35) of Modesto was driving a 1993 Chevy S-10 northbound on La Grange Road just south of Hwy 120 in Jamestown at a high rate of speed.

Burglaries in Calaveras County May 17, 2015

   On May 17, 2015 a resident on Kiva Drive in Copperopolis reported that a burglary had occurred.

Robert Louis Maulhardt, Jr. of San Andreas

       Robert Louis Maulhardt, Jr. of San Andreas, was born on February 16, 1934 in Oxnard, and died at his home on May 14, 2015.

   He retired as manager

   Native Daughters Ruby Parlor is holding a special Indoor Yard Sale on May 22nd and 23rd, 2015 at their building at 268 Main Street in Murphys.

Bonnie Pulliam of Mountain Ranch

    Bonita Kathryn "Bonnie" Pulliam, a long time resident of Mountain Ranch, passed away at age 74 on May 12, 2015.

Texas says More Biker gangs coming

   After a biker gang war broke out and 9 people were killed over the weekend in Texas, authorities there say more biker gang member are headed for Texas.

   Hundreds of guns and other weapons were seized after the battle was stopped.  The restaurant and entire mall where it took place are closed for at least two weeks, per police.

Vehicle hits wall on I-5

   UPDATE at 7:10 AM:  Three CHP are now at the scene. Party apparently fell asleep and doesn't remember how he got where he is. An ambulance is not en route.

CCWD Adopts new Mandatory Water Restrictions

   On May 13, 2015 the Calaveras County Water District adopted a new ordinance and mandatory restrictions on water use for its customers.

    We will be publishing them later today. The list is long and very restrictive.

Collision in Lodi

   May 18, 2015 at 6:30 AM:  Two CHP are at the scene of a collision involving a green Dodge Ram and a white Honda Civic on Armstrong Road at Micke Grove Road in Lodi.

   An ambulance and tow truck are en route. Use extra caution if in that area.
