California Senators lose free drivers

After many complained about California's state Senators getting drivers to take them home after having a drink or two, the program was cancelled.

   There had been two drivers for each Senator every night to assure they got home safely. Pretty expensive luxury to avoid drunk driving tickets.

Little People, Big World stars divorcing

   It was announced today that the Roloffs, stars of Little People, Big World are getting a divorce.

   It's not clear if their TV show had anything to do with their problems.

Fire on Hwy 4

  June 5, 2015 at 5:40 PM:  A fire has been reported on Hwy 4 at Forest Meadows, above Murphys. Emergency fire crews are responding to the area.

Missing Murphys man

   According to the Calaveras County Sheriff  on June 2, 2015 they received a report of a missing Murphys resident.

Vehicle collision in Double Springs

   June 5, 2015 at 2:30 PM:  A solo vehicle has reportedly run off Hwy 12 and crashed in the Double Springs area.

   It isn't yet known if there are injuries. CHP is en route. Be careful if in that area.

Arrest in UPS thefts--Employee

   According to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department, on June 2, 2015 around 10 AM detectives and Veteran Affairs Investigators served a search warrant

Multi-vehicle crash in Manteca

   June 5, 2015 at 1:55 PM:  A multi-vehicle collision has been reported on Hwy 120 at Union Road in Manteca.

   CHP is en route to the scene. It isn't yet known if there are injuries. Use caution in that area.

CCWD objects to ASPHALT plant near river

   The Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) has filed a formal objection to the ASPALT plant which was approved by Supervisor Kearney and Planning Director Peter Maurer

Solo Vehicle crash in Escalon

   June 5, 2015 at 1:20 PM:  A solo vehicle has reportedly crashed at Hwy 120 and Steinegul Road in Escalon.

   CHP is at the scene. Injuries are apparently minor. Use extra caution if headed that direction.

CCWD meets June 10, 2015

   Calaveras County Water District meets on June 10, 2015 for their regular meeting.

   It will be held at 9 AM in their board room in San Andreas.

Head-on Crash in Manteca

  June 5, 2015 at 10:40 AM:  A head-on crash has been reported on eastbound Hwy 120 at Airport Way in Manteca.

   Lanes are blocked and apparently there are minor injuries. An ambulance is responding. One vehicle involved is a black Jeep Cherokee.  Avoid the area if possible.


Jackson City Council (Amador County) talks water rates

     On Monday, June 8, 2015 at 7 PM the Jackson City Council (Amador County) will hold its regular meeting at the City Hall on Broadway in Jackson.

   On the Consent Agenda is what is described as a "salary item" for $287,934.01.

   On the Regular Agenda are Water Rates related to Water Conservation Increase and the French Bar Road Bridge over Jackson Creek.

Collision in Long Barn

   June 5, 2015 at 8:20 AM:  CHP and an ambulance are responding to a collision at Hwy 108 and Long Barn Road in Long Barn.

   The vehicle is off the roadway, but use caution if in that area.  Apparently a USFS person is on scene.

Crash on Hwy 49

   According to a CHP report, on June 3, 2015 Russell Ankele (28) of Soulsbyville was driving his 2001 Ford Ranger southbound on Hwy 49 south of

Burglary arrest in San Andreas

   On June 4, 2015 at approximately 11 PM Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Jay Jeramiah Stufflet (26) of Oroville, at the Tower Gas Station in San Andreas for alleged Robbery, Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime and an outstanding warrant for allegedly Carrying a Concealed Dirk or Dagger, all felonies.

   Stufflet was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Crash in West Point

   June 5, 2015 at 6:20 AM: CHP is en route to the scene of a crash on Main Street near Bouvard Street in West Point.

   No injuries have been reported, but use extra caution if in the area.

Collision in Patterson

   June 5, 2015 at 6:10 AM:  CHP and Paterson Police are at the scene of a traffic collision on Hwy 33 at Rogers Road in Patterson.

   No injuries were reported in this collision. A green Toyota and a brown GMC were involved. Use caution if in that area.
