Car hits pole on Hwy 12

  June 8, 2015 at 3:45 PM:  A car reportedly hit a pole on Hwy 12 at Southworth in the Burson area and a grass fire was started. PG&E has been notified of damaged pole.

   An ambulance is responding. The roadway is moving with on-way traffic only at this time. Smoke is affecting visibility.  Avoid the area if possible.

Calaveras Supervisors hiring paid Assassin again???

   With no money to help the local Veterans in Calaveras County, the Calaveras Supervisors are set to approve (even on the Consent Agenda) to hire the paid animal assassin to kill any animal he wishes in our area at tomorrows meeting June 9, 2015.

   This is such an abuse of our tax money,

Music in the Parks #2 in Arnold

   The 2nd Music in the Parks concert will be held in Arnold at the Cedar Center and will feature the Original Snail.

   Free music begins on Wednesday June 24, 2015 at 6:30 PM.  It is presented by the Calaveras County Arts Council.

Collision in Pioneer

  June 8, 2015 at 12 Noon:  CHP is en route to the report of an collision on Hwy 88 at Carson Drive in Pioneer.

  A tow truck has been dispatched as they are currently blocking the roadway. An ambulance is also responding to the scene. Use extra caution if in that area.

Wrong Way Driver on Hwy 108

 June 8, 2015 at 11:15 AM:  CHP is en route to a reported wrong-way driver on Hwy 108 and Tulloch Dam Road.

   Use extra caution if headed in that direction.

Hit and Run suspect arrested by CHP

   On June 7, 2015 around 11 AM, the California Highway Patrol arrested Ryan Douglas VanCleave of Murphys at his residence there on Nickerson Lane, after an investigation of an incident that been reported the night before.

    VanCleave was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged DUI/Alcohol or drugs, causing Great Bodily Injury, Hit and Run resulting in Death or injury and Willful Cruelty to a child, all felonies and for Battery on a Person, a misdemeanor.

Hwy 4 Closure for repaving

  Caltrans is advising that Hwy 4 over Ebbetts Pass will be closed for repaving from Highland Lake road to Hwy 89.

   This closure will take place beginning Wednesday June 10, 2015 from 7 AM until 6 PM. Motorists will need to take alternate routes during the closure.

Man drowns trying to save another

   Two men drowned in the Delta near Isleton yesterday, according to authorities who recovered their bodies late Sunday.

   Apparently one man fell off the dock and the other jumped in to try and save him. Names of the victims have not yet been released.

Crash on Hwy 4

   June 8, 2015 at 8:45 AM:  A traffic collision between a black Accura and a silver Jaguar occurred on Hwy 4 at Jack Tone Road, below Farmington.

   Use extra caution if in the area. No injuries have been indicated in the collision.

Cows on Parrotts Ferry Road

   CHP is attempting to locate the owners of some cows that got out of their pasture and are on Parrotts Ferry Road near Natural Bridges, just outside Vallecito.

   Be extra careful if headed in that direction until they can mooove them off the roadway.

Letter to the Editor: What happened to Arnold?

      Dear Editor:

      Yesterday, I chanced to drive through Arnold for the first time in several years. Since I didn't have to drive, I watched the sides of the road as we slowly made our way along Hwy 4.

Attempted Murder with Bulldozer? Neighbor from Hell?

   In a small town in New South Wales, Australia, a 45 year old man allegedly stole a bulldozer from a nearby construction site, and then aimed it at a woman's home.

Traffic Collision in Jackson

  June 8, 2015 at 7:05 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 49 and Industry Drive in Jackson.

   Use extra caution if headed for that area. No injuries have been indicated per CHP.
