Angels Camp Police arrest Car-jacker!

      According to a press release, on June 9, 2015 at approximately 1:40 PM, officers from the Angels Camp Police Department were dispatched to the 200 block of South Main

Concert and tour of Milfiori Historic Retreat

   On Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 3 to 6 PM the Calaveras Arts will present a home concert featuring Jill Warren and Friends.

   The cost is $25 for adults and $10 for youth and will be held at the Milfiori Historic Retreat Site in Douglas Flat.  Advance sale tickets only as space is limited. Call 754-1774.

Traffic Collision in Groveland

  June 9, 2015 at 2:50 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 120 and Hardin Flat Road in Groveland.

   CHP is en route. It isn't yet known if there are injuries. Use caution if in that area.

Former House Speaker pleads "not guilty"

   The former Republican House of Representatives Speaker Dennis Hastert hired the attorney from Watergate and Iran Contra to represent him in court today.

   He plead "not guilty" to charges he lied to the FBI about illegal bank withdrawals. They allege he used the money to pay off or hush money regarding sexual misconduct accusations.

Calaveras KKK Project members invited to Texas

   We received an anonymous tip this morning that the Calaveras KKK Project members have officially been invited to join the state of Texas motorcycle

Burglary reported in Angels Camp

   On June 8, 2015 a resident on Sanctuary Lane in Angels Camp reported a burglary of a barn.

    The Calaveras Sheriff took a report. It isn't known what was taken.

Squatters reported in Burson

   On June 8, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office was told that some squatters were living in a motorhome and using the Post Office water and power on Hwy 12 in Burson.

   The Sheriff took no report on the incident.

Arrest for Grand Theft

    On June 8, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Tracy Winters Rogers (54) of Sheep Ranch, at the Sacramento County Jail for alleged Grand Theft over $950 and for Vehicle theft, both felonies, on warrants.

   Rogers was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Assault arrest in Angels Camp

   On June 8, 2015 Angels Camp Police arrested Matthew Craig Towne (25) of Angels Camp on Tuolumne Ave for alleged Assault with a Deadly Weapon, not a Firearm, a felony and for Manufacturing, Importing, Sale or Possession of a Billy Club or Baton and Possession of Concentrated Cannabis, both misdemeanors.

   Towne was booking into the Calaveras County Jail.

Horses on Hwy 4 in Murphys

   June 9, 2015 at 10:55 AM:  Two reports have been received by CHP of horses in the roadway on Hwy 4 around Big Trees Road in Murphys.

   Use extra caution if in that area. CHP is en route to the scene.

El Dorado Hills home burns

   The El Dorado Hills Fire Department and other surrounding agencies responded to this fire at a home on Knights Lane in El Dorado Hills yesterday.

   This massive fire, which apparently started in the garage, just about destroyed the entire structure.

Fire in Glencoe

   On June 8, 2015 at 1:42 PM CalFire responded to a report of a vegetation fire on Hwy 26 in Glencoe.

    Several units were dispatched to the scene, including air attack from Columbia.      

    A 30' x 30' spot of brush was burned before it was extinguished.  The cause of the fire was not determined.

  

Barbara Snyder of San Andreas

   Barbara Elizabeth Snyder was born on March 4, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio and entered into rest on June 5, 2015 in Lodi.

   Barbara currently resided in San Andreas

Calaveras Sheriff--More details on Attempted Murder

   On June 5, 2015 at around 7 AM the Calaveras Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an assault on the 23000 block on Hwy 26 in West Point.

Placer County fire 100% contained

   On June 8, 2015 CalFire responded to a report of a fire on Riosa Road, north of Lincoln in Placer County.

   Called the Riosa Fire, it burned 110 acres, but is now 100% contained by CalFire.

Solo vehicle rollover in Twain Harte

   June 9, 2015 at 9 AM:  A solo vehicle has rolled over on Hwy 108 at Leisure Drive in Twain Harte.

   An ambulance and tow truck are en route to the scene. Use extra caution as the vehicle is blocking the roadway at this time.

Fox Fire 90% contained

   The Fox Fire in the Yosemite area, burned 25 acres, but was brought to 90% containment by CalFire yesterday, June 8, 2015.

    28 homes were evacuated yesterday, but families were allowed back home this morning. They are expecting 100 degree temps in the Mormon Bar area later this week.

The alligator walk doesn't seem to bother these
tourists at Everglades National Park in Florida.
