Farmers finally ordered to stop!!

   Major water users, the corporate billionaire farmers who have had unlimited water rights for a century along some of California's waterways, have finally been ordered to stop all pumping.

  The Governor had exempted them and rich people with pools from the strictest drought rules in history.  The rich people with pools are still allowed to waste water.

Collision in Oakdale

   June 13, 2015 at 2:45 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Rodden Road and Hwy 120 in Oakdale.

   A red Honda and a grey BMW were apparently involved. No injuries have been indicated.  Use caution if headed for that area.

Saddle Fire in Trinity National Forest

  June 13, 2015 at 12 Noon:  The USFS reports that 10 water tenders, 10 engines, 19 dozers and 4 helicopters are working on the Saddle Fire today.

   They will update the acres burned and status later in the day. So far 1331 acres are reported burned.

Traffic Collision on Hwy 99

   June 13, 2015 at 11:45 AM:  CHP is en route to a reported collision on northbound Hwy 99 at Arch Road in Stockton.

  No injuries have been reported, but be cautious if in that area.

Burglary reported in Murphys

   On June 12, 2015 a resident on Sheep Ranch Road reported a burglary to the Calaveras Sheriff.

   No report was taken by the Sheriff's Office.

Arrest for Forgery in Valley Springs

   On June 12, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Troy Allen Premo (21) of Valley Springs on Vista Del Lago for alleged Forgery, a felony.

   Premo was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Murphys Water UPUD meets

   On Wednesday, June 17, 2015 the Union Public Utility District meets at 7 PM at their office on Main Street in Murphys.

   Ratepayers are welcome to attend.  Water conservation is on the agenda.

Rollover collision in Sonora

  UPDATE:  This vehicle rolled onto its roof and people were trapped inside.  Lanes in the area are blocked. Use extra caution if in that area.

Be careful in this heat!

   As we just heard a call for help with a person with possible heat exhaustion in Sonora, we want to remind everyone that we need to take extra precautions if heading out during the peak heat hours.

   Carry water and wear a hat; and don't stay too long in the sun. Don't be a victim of the heat! Take care!

Collision in Jamestown

  June 13, 2015 at 10:55 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 108 and Hwy 49 in Jamestown.

  CHP and an ambulance are en route. Use extra caution if in that area.

Daniel Pedersen lost in canoe accident

   Daniel Robert Pedersen was born July 15, 1976 in Richmond to Jane Pedersen and John Ortega. He now rests peacefully with his Lord in Heaven.

Inured Baby Bear on Hwy 108

  June 13, 2015 at 9 AM:  A driver of a green Toyota has reported that they hit a baby bear at Hwy 108 at Pinecrest Lake.

   The cub is injured and CHP says they don't take care of bear injuries. Hopefully they are trying to find someone to help.  Use caution if in the area.

  

Saddle Fire in Trinity National Forest adds 400 acres

   June 13, 2015 at 7:05 AM:  The Saddle Fire was just updated this morning at 1330 acres in the Trinity National Forest.

PIckup rollover in Avery

  UPDATE at 6:30 AM:  A tow truck has been dispatched to recover the pickup which apparently had been abandoned during the night.
