Mr. Big Pot (hic) strikes again!

   It seems that the infamous Mr."Big Pot" McManus of Calaveras County cannot keep his 'Big Pot' mouth shut for even a minute.(hic)

   He even goes to Planning Commission meetings to harass people there. It's a sad day (hic) for Mr. 'Big Pot'!!

Bear enjoys Folsom Lake

   While a man was out boating at Folsom Lake yesterday, he saw what he first thought was a dog swimming near his boat.

   On second look, he grabbed his camera. A black bear was having a cool swim in the lake.

USFS holding workshop on reforesting Rim Fire

   On July 8, 2015 from 9 AM to 3 PM the USFS will conduct a workshop to determine how to go about reforesting the Stanislaus National Forest where the Rim Fire burned.

   Please RSVP if you are attending the workshop to gdempsey@fs.fed.us by July 1, 2015 so they can send you the materials in advance.

Crash in front of Valley Springs firehouse

     June 16, 2015 at 3:15 PM:  A silver Toyota and a black sedan collided at Hwy 26 near Hwy 12,  in front of the firehouse.

   No injuries were reported, but one of the vehicles has severe front end damage.

Pickup rolls in Valley Springs

   UPDATE:  No injuries reported in this collision.

Vandalism report over Water Tank and Fences

   On June 15, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff was called for a report of Vandalism on Camanche Parkway South in Burson. A dispute over a water tank and fences was ongoing.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took a report of the incident.

Tree cutters thrown off property

   Most people feel the same about the various utility companies use of tree company employees, who PG&E send out to cut our trees at their whim.

Burglary in Copperopolis

   On June 15, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff was notified that a burglary occurred on Main Street in Copperopolis.

   Reportedly equipment had been taken. The Calaveras Sheriff took no report.

Two children lose an arm after shark attacks

   In shallow water only waist deep off North Carolina, two young people each lost an arm when a black tip shark attacked.

   Attacks of this magnitude are not that common, according to authorities, but the attacks were severe in nature.

Tree on fire in Hickman

  June 16, 2015 at 12:35 PM:  Stanislaus County Fire is responding to a report of a tree on fire at Hwy 132 and Hickman Road, at the bridge.

   Use caution if in the area.

Fire in the Linden area

   June 16, 2015 at 12:15 PM:   A grass fire has been reported in the Linden/Peters area. It is approximately 2 acres in size so far and is near Shelton and Waverly, off Hwy 26.

   CalFire and air attack are responding to the scene. Stay away from the area if possible.

Fire in Angels Camp

   June 16, 2015 at 12 PM:  A house fire has been reported on Main Street in Angels Camp.  One witness said it was 75% involved on arrival.

    Use caution if in that area as emergency vehicles are in the area.

Woman injured in vehicle off roadway

   June 16, 2015 at 11:55 AM:  An ambulance is en route due to injuries to a vehicle reported running off the roadway at Thornton Road and Walnut Grove Road in Thornton.

   Use extra caution if headed in that direction.

Hay truck causes damage

  June 16, 2015 at 11:40 AM:  A big rig hay truck dropped a bale of hay at Escalon Bellota Road and Elm Street in Farmington, knocked over a mailbox and hit a tree limb which fell into the roadway.

   Be extra careful in that area until it can be cleared.

Arrest for Power line damage

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff, on June 15, 2015 they arrested Kevin Russell Bernido (49) of Arnold, at 5th Green and Country Club Drive in Arnold.

   Bernido was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Injuring Power Lines, a felony.

Saddle Fire in Trinity Naitonal Forest

  June 16, 2015 at 8 AM:  The Saddle Fire in the Trinity National Forest is now 1530 acres.

  The good news is that the perimeter is now 65% contained.

Car runs into ditch in Jamestown

   June 16, 2015 at 8:15 AM:  CHP is at the scene of a car that ran off Hwy 49 into a ditch near Hwy 120 in Jamestown.

   Use extra caution until the tow truck can remove the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

   We just heard that Governor Brown is trying to push through a new regulation in California that will force all the small water agencies to merge into one giant agency. He says this is for the betterment of all...but..????
