Fire in Rio Vista

  UPDATE:  The bridge will remain closed due to fire having burned under it for some time. Needs inspection.

Vehicle on fire at Hogan Lake

   June 18, 2015 at 4:40 PM:  A vehicle fire has been reported at Hogan Lake, at the 2nd boat ramp in Valley Springs.

   Fire personnel is responding to the scene.  Use caution if in the area.

Calaveras County Water District meets

   The CCWD (Calaveras County Water District) will meet on Wednesday June 24, 2015 at 9 AM for their regular meeting.

   We see nothing on their agenda about lessening the strict rules for water usage as they had stated earlier this week.

Vehicle and motorcycle collide -- fatality

   June 18, 2015 at 3:25 PM:  A vehicle and motorcycle have collided on Hwy 41 at Serpa Canyon Road in the Oakhurst area.

   One person has not survived this crash. Emergency vehicles are blocked by fire engines headed for the fire in Stanislaus County.

Traffic collision in Jamestown

   June 18, 2015 at 2:40 PM:  A car is reportedly over the side at Hwy 120 and New Priest Grade in Jamestown.

   It was reported that someone was running around in traffic trying to get help. CHP is en route to the scene.  The bottom of Old Priest Grade is being closed. Avoid the area if possible.

Avery Sheep Ranch Road closed

   June 18, 2015 at 2:15 PM: Due to a traffic hazard waiting to be removed, Avery Sheep Ranch Road will be closed for about an hour near Fullen Road in Avery.

   Be prepared to wait if you are headed that way.

Pets left in a hot car can die quickly

  In Vacaville yesterday, police discovered a pet rabbit in one car and a dog left in another in the heat.

  They rushed both to the vet. The rabbit already died. The dog may survive the ordeal.  The two drivers were charged with animal cruelty.  Do not leave your pets in a hot car. Leave them home.

Truck on fire in Turlock

   June 18, 2015 at 2:10 PM:  A truck is reportedly on fire at Hwy 165 and Harding Road in Turlock.

   One witness said it was totally engulfed. No one knew if anyone was inside. Emergency personnel are en route to the scene.

Motorcycle collision in Mountain Ranch

  UPDATE:  Injuries are minor in this collision per CHP.

Fire on Ridge Road in Amador County

  UPDATE:  Good news! This fire, called the Ridge incident, has been knocked down by locals at the scene, per CalFire. Two units will remain at scene for mop-up.

Saddle Fire Update

  The Saddle Fire in the Trinity National Forest is now 90% contained and is 1546 total acres burned.

   Firefighters will continue to mop up the area for several days. It was caused by lightning.

Home burglarized in Copperopolis

  On June 17, 2015 a burglary was reported by a resident on Morado Circle in Copperopolis.

  The Calaveras Sheriff did not take a report on the incident.

Spin-out across all lanes on Hwy 99

   June 18, 2015 at 8:30 AM:  A white Toyota hit the center divide, spun out across all lanes on Hwy 99 and ended up in the ditch near the Armstrong Road exit in Lodi.

   Emergency vehicles, including an ambulance are responding. Use extra caution if in that area.

Burglary in Jenny Lind

   On June 17, 2015 a burglary was reported by a resident on Shelton Road in Jenny Lind.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report.

Burglary in Copper Town Square

   A commercial burglary was reported in the Copper Town Square area of Copperopolis on June 17, 2015.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took a report of the incident.

Hwy 132 reopens after head-on collision

   June 18, 2015 at 8:45 AM:  CHP just reopened Hwy 132 after a head-on collision involving three vehicles was reported near Texas Road in Modesto.

    One person was transported to a hospital with major injuries. A construction company truck, loaded with equipment was involved, along with a Honda Civic.  The roadway had to be cleared of debris.
