CalFire update of fire activity

   Cal Fire has just released details about fires of interest in the state of California.

"Jurassic World" is bigggg!

   In the two weeks since it opened, "Jurassic World" has taken in over $400 million in the US and over $1 billion worldwide.

    This is the fastest any movie has ever passed the $1 billion mark.

Fire reported in Modesto

   June 22, 2015 at 4:15 PM:  A fire has been reported at Santa Fe Avenue and Claus Road in Modesto.

   Fire personnel are en route to the scene. Avoid the area if possible.

Traffic collision in Turlock

   June 22, 2015 at 4:10 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 99 at West Monte Vista Avenue in Turlock.

  A pickup hit the guardrail and is now in the center divide. CHP is en route. It isn't yet known if there are injuries.

Grass Fire in Sonora

   UPDATE:  They are beginning to get this fire under control. Air cancelled, but one dozer and two more engines to continue.

Fire in Atwater area

   UPDATE:  The fire is now contained at approximately 5 acres.

   June 20, 2015 at 1:30 PM: Cal Fire is battling a grass fire at Lincoln Boulevard and Rose Avenue in the Atwater area.
   Use extra caution if heading that direction.

Body found in Tuolumne River

      Stanislaus Sheriff's deputies were first dispatched to 7th Street along the Tuolumne River to investigate a body found in the water there.

Government cannot take raisins from farmers

   After 66 years of the federal government forcibly taking raisins from farmers without full payment,  in order to raise prices, has finally been ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

Jordan Spieth wins US Open Golf Tournament

   Jordan Spieth, 21 years old, has won the US Open Golf Tournament; and on a golf course that appeared to be dying.

   In fact, if it wasn't for the view of the ocean in the background, it would not have been worth televising.  Many thought this was one of the ugliest golf courses they had ever seen.

Donald Lloyd Mitchell of Murphys

    Donald Lloyd Mitchell, age 95, passed away peacefully at his home in Murphys on June 18, 2015 with his two daughters at his side.

Two semis collide in Turlock

   June 22, 2015 at 11:20 AM:  Two semis collided at Mitchell and Main Street in Turlock, causing a diesel spill and damage to two trailers.

  No injuries were reported, but two big rig tow trucks are required to move the vehicles.

   Who knew that being a game show host was so lucrative.  Pat Sajak, of Wheel of Fortune has a yearly income of a cool $12 mill a year. Even Vanna White, who turns the letters, makes $8 mill.

   The ever-popular Steve Harvey makes $12 mill for Family Feud; but we think he may earn that salary.  He seems to totally enjoy every minute of it, which makes him even more popular.

Fire reported in Camanche area--Under Investigation

  UPDATE on June 22, 2015:  According to Cal Fire approximately 5 1/2 acres of grass and brush vegetation was burned.  It took 7 engines, a helicopter, air tanker and many hand crewspt
UPDATE at 3:30 PM:  Another water tender has been requested for this fire out of Moke Hill.

  UPDATE:  Approximately one acre has burned so far, driven by wind.

Power lines down in Columbia

   June 22, 2015 at 10:25 AM:  CHP received a report that a truck accidentally pulled some lines down on Yankee Hill Road in Columbia.

   CHP notified AT&T and they are sending someone out to make repairs.

Motorcycle Crashes in Mokelumne Hill

   According to CHP, on June 20, 2015 Daniel Rau (64) of Mountain Ranch was driving his 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Ridge Road in Mokelumne Hill at 40 MPH

Lake Fire in San Bernardino National Forest

      Authorities still are not sure how the Lake Fire started on June 17, 2015 but it has now burned over 17,000 acres.

  It is now considered to be 21% contained, but 500 homes are threatened and there are many evacuations in the area, along with road closures.

Railroad Flat Burglary

   On June 21, 2015 a resident on Railroad Flat Road in Railroad Flat reported that someone was trying to break into their home.

   Apparently they were gone when the Calaveras Sheriff deputy arrived. They took a report of the incident.

Burglary in Copperopolis

   On June 20, 2015 a resident on Salmon Road in Copperopolis reported a burglary.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report of the incident.

Speed causes major injury crash on Hwy 4

   According to a CHP report, on June 19, 2015 around 5:25 PM Jeremiah Elsey (21) of Stockton was driving a 1995 Toyota eastbound on Hwy 4

Alpine County Fire grows to 6500 acres

   A fire that started small on Friday afternoon in the Markleeville area of Alpine County, has now caused Ebbetts Pass to be closed to travelers.

   This fire is 6500 acres and is called the Washington Fire.  We will watch for more info on this one., currently on the Markleeville side of Ebbetts Pass.
