caught, killed and ate all but 2 inches of this snake.

Major injury crash in Sonora

   July 8, 2015 at 6 PM:  A white Subaru went over the embankment on the Mono Way exit from eastbound Hwy 108 in Sonora.

   It was a solo collision. An ambulance transported the injured driver to Sonora Regional Medical Center with lacerations and leg pain.

Rules for Snowmobilers in the forest

      The Stanislaus National Forest will be hosting several open house in July regarding snowmobiling in the forest.

Collision in Jenny LInd

   July 8, 2015 at 4 PM:  Two vehicles reportedly collided at Jenny Lind Road and Baldwin Street in Jenny Lind.

   Minor injuries resulted from the crash, but both vehicles are drivable.

Fire in Chinese Camp

   July 8, 2015 at 2 PM:  A grass fire has been reported on Red Hills Road nearr Hwy 49 in Chinese Camp. This fire was confirmed by an air Cal Fire.  This is being called the "camp" incident.

         Several engines and air tanker has been assigned to this fire, which is around 2 acres at this time.   There are structures in the area, but fire is not spreading quickly at this time.

  

Murphys Sanitary District meets

   The Murphys Sanitary District will hold a regular meeting on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 90 Big Trees Road in Murphys.

   The meeting begins at 10 AM. On the agenda is purchasing a modular building for the new office relocating to the treatment center.  A meeting with Ironstone is planned. Rescheduled item for September meeting.

HAZ MAT called for mysterious parcel

  July 8, 2015 at 12:30 PM:  After around 2 1/2 hours, a parcel feared to be toxic was determined to be safe enough to take to Castle Air Force Base. (this base in Atwater is apparently closed)

  There is will be checked out to see what it is and why it was found at northbound Hwy 99 and 16th street in Merced. For awhile HAZMAT stated they were not aware of the situation.

In case you think you have the only "Neighbors from Hell"

   Everyday a few Calaveras residents are forced to call the Sheriff due to problems with "Neighbors from Hell".  Those listed below are just from yesterday's log.

   For instance, on July 7, 2015 a resident on Indian Creek Drive in Jenny Lind, asked for help

Arrest in Arnold

   On July 7, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Daniel David Hill at his residence on Summit View in Arnold for alleged Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Misdemeanor and for Revocation of Command Supervisor, a felony.

   Hill was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

NY Stock Exchange halts trading--United Airlines halts flights

   Apparently due to a computer glitch, the NYSE halted trading in all symbols this morning at 11:30 AM EDT.

   United Airlines also had to halt all flights and bookings for a few hours this morning due to a computer problem.

Pickup overturns in San Luis Refuge

   July 8, 2015 at 8:50 AM:  A grey pickup has overturned at Hwy 165 and Corral Road in the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge in the Los Banos area.

   No injuries were reported. A tow truck has been dispatched to the scene.

Car hits tree in Groveland

  UPDATE at 9:05 AM:  CHP is now at the scene.  One person is being airlifted to hospital.

Washington Fire in Alpine County

  As of July 7, 2015 the Washington Fire, burning in Alpine County has destroyed more that 17,000 acres of forest land.

   Hwy 4 and Hwy 89 are both open, but travelers need to beware of fire suppression equipment and workers in the area.

50 tires on Bradbury Road

   July 8, 2015 at 6 AM:  It has been reported to CHP that there are approximately 50 tires dumped in the roadway at Bradbury and Mitchell in Turlock.

   Use extra caution if in that area. Oh, maybe we could send the "troll" to round them up!
