National Weather service warning

   July 20, 2015 at 3:50 PM:  The National Weather Service has just issue a warning for severe thunderstorms in the Hwy 4 corridor.

   Tamarack through Bear Valley and Lake Alpine are apparently in the path, with winds, lightning and heavy rain.

New Volunteer deputies in Calaveras

   Five new deputy sheriff volunteers were sworn in recently.  They will serve the communities of Calaveras County.

      Gary Boler, Mike Connich, Bill Cook, Bruce Geenfield, and Barry Macler will serve in the communities where they live.

Cigarette butts everywhere

No wonder we have so many fires!!

These turtles look nice and cool

  Unlike most of us in Mother Lode, these turtles look cool and calm.  Did you know that their ribs are fused to their shells.

    To breathe, they contract their flanks and their shoulders, under their shell.

Hit & Run Collision in Martell

   July 20, 2015 at 12:45 PM:  A hit & run traffic collision has been reported at Wicklow Way and Hwy 88 in Martell.

  No injuries are indicated.

  

Tree down in Jackson

   July 20, 2015 at 11:45 AM:  A tree is reportedly down on Clinton Road near Butte Mountain Road in Jackson.

   Use extra caution if in that area.

KKK rallies in South Carolina

   Yes, it's true!  White Supremacists KKK rallied in protest at the South Carolina State Capitol against the removal of the Confederate flag.  The Nazi flag was also carried in the protest.

   We haven't yet heard from the Calaveras KKK, to see if they are continuing their protest.

Radio Station caller: "Please move the deer crossing signs"

    Believe it or not, a caller to a radio station in an obviously high IQ area in Fargo, North Dakota, went on and on about how the government needs to move the deer crossing signs.

Hazard in Vallecito

   July 20, 2015 at 6:45 AM:  A traffic hazard has been reported on Hwy 4 at the Vallecito Bypass Road.

   It isn't clear what the hazard is, so be extra cautious in that area.
