49er linebacker Aldon Smith released after arrest

  Just hours after Aldon Smith was released from jail, the 49ers have released him from the team.

   He was apparently arrested for alleged DUI, Hit and Run and Vandalisml by Santa Clara Police.

Fire in Clements

   August 7, 2015 at 1 PM:  A grass fire has been reported at Clements Road and Brandt Road in Clements.

   Cal Fire and local engines are responding to the scene.

Tow truck overturned near Ione

    August 7, 2015 at 12:55 PM:  A white tow truck has overturned on Liberty Road/Camanche Parkway at the Amador/Calaveras County line, near Ione.  Minor injuries were indicated.

      Another tow truck has been dispatched from his company. Absorbitant is needed for oil on the roadway.  Driver says he was forced off the roadway.

Traffic Collision in Oakdale

  August 7, 2015 at 12:05 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 120 and River Road in Oakdale.

   A Volvo and a Honda were involved. There were no injuries and it is not blocking the roadway per CHP.

Car Fire on Hwy 99

   August 7, 2015 at 11 AM:  Cal Fire has responded to a report of a car fire on southbound Hwy 99 at the Liberty Road offramp in the Galt area.

   One lane is blocked by the fire engine. Use extra caution if in that area until tow truck can clear the roadway.

95% of fires Cal Fire is called to are HUMAN caused.....

Grapes dumped on roadway in Turlock

   August 7, 2015 at 10:25 AM:  Grapes are reportedly spilled on Hwy 165 at Bradbury Road in Turlock.

   Seems a little early in the season, but be cautious as they will be slippery.  

Fire reported in Copperopolis

   August 7, 2015 at 9:50 AM:  A fire has been reported on Buckboard in Copperopolis.

   Cal Fire has dispatched an engine to the scene. Avoid the area if possible.

Murphys Sanitary District meets

   On Thursday, August 13, 2015 the Murphys Sanitary District will hold their regular Board meeting at 90 Big Trees Road Suite B in Murphys.

   The meeting begins at 10 AM. On the agenda is grease traps, responsibility and records.



Collision at Hwy 99 and Hwy 120

   August 7, 2015 at 9:15 AM:  A two vehicle collision was reported at Hwy 99 and Hwy 120 east in Manteca.

   No injuries have been indicated, but use caution if in the area.

Calaveras LAFCo cancels August meeting

  We just received notice that Calaveras LAFCo has cancelled its regularly scheduled August 17, 2015 meeting.

   The next meeting will be Monday, September 21, 2015 at 6 PM in the Calaveras Board Chambers in San Andreas.

Vehicle Fire on Hwy 4

   UPDATE at 9:25 AM:  The vehicle apparently overheated. The first engine on the scene contained the fire and extinguished it. No spread into the vegetation. A tow truck is en route to the scene.

Car chase and meth bust in Burson

   According to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office on August 4, 2015 around 2:52 AM, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was observed crossing double solid yellow lines.

Calaveras County Social Media??

  Like everyone knows, certain Calaveras government employees, some even elected officials, started a social media site to promote Sheriff Kuntz and others' re-election campaigns.

   It was widely known, but hidden by those who wrote it; using it to get him enough votes for his re-election.  Apparently there were complaints!  We wonder why?  Stay tuned!
