Tri-Dam to draw down Tulloch 28'--CCWD plans extensions

   UPDATE: Per Susan Larsen of Tri-Dam, this is NOT a permanent drawdown. It is just a preparation in case the drought is extended through 2016.

Fire reported in Plymouth

   August 10, 2015 at 6:15 PM:  A tree on fire has been reported at Shenandoah and Bell Road in Plymouth.

   Cal Fire is en route to the scene. Use extra caution if in the area.

Hwy 88 remains closed--No big rigs

  Per Caltrans, Hwy 88 in Amador County remains closed between Pioneer and Buckhorn Ridge Road due to corrosive material being dumped on the roadway by an overturned big rig.

   The pavement is being removed and replaced and the highway is expected to reopen on August 12, 2015.

   Big rigs must find another way over the passes, but regular vehicles are being detoured from Pioneer to Buckhorn Ridge Road and back onto Hwy 88.

Another collision in Burson

     According to CHP on August 8, 2015 around 6:05 PM, Jeanine White (61) of Valley Springs was driving a 2015 Chevy Silverado on Pettinger Road in Burson.

According to CHP, on August 8, 2015 around t:30 PM Linda Siegel (49) of Valley Springs was driving an 1983 GMC pickup while allegedly Under the Influence of a controlled substance

Motorcycle collision on Hwy 4

   Per the CHP report on August 8, 2015 at around 4:30 PM Tomas Verduzco (28) of Manteca, was driving a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle with his passenger

Overturned vehicle on Hwy 49

   According to CHP, on August 7, 2015 at approximately 6:25 PM Desmond R. Fehrer (35) of Sacramento was driving a 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser with his son Elliot (3) as a passenger.

US Postal Service van involved in Hit and Run

   August 10, 2015 at 2:15 PM:  A US Postal van was reportedly involved in a hit and run collision at Filbert and Harding Way in Stockton.

   No injuries were indicated. Use caution if in the area.

Calaveras Supervisors (or Tea Potty) meet tomorrow ASPHALT or POT??

   On Tuesday, August 11, 2015 after their lengthy prayer session, the Calaveras Supervisors will hold a regular Board meeting in San Andreas.

   They have a lengthy agenda, with the main focus on Mr. Kearney and Tunno's Asphalt Plant.

   The anti-"big pot" movement by the Tea Potty will also be in action as an appeal for their medical marijuana store is also agendized.  This is Edsels hate project!  Stop all POT!!

  Should be interesting.  Perhaps the voters should say a prayer; that our elected officials will do what they elected them to do; and not the TEA POTTY bunch.

Traffic collision in Manteca

   August 10, 2015 at 1:15 PM:  A white pickup and a grey sedan have collided near a light pole on Hwy 120 at Hwy 99 in Manteca.

   No injuries have been reported, but use extra caution as the pickup is reportedly blocking a lane.

   August 10, 2015 at 12:10 PM:  A car has left Hwy 99 northbound at Acampo Road in Lodi and gone through the chain link fence.

    Apparently the vehicle is now facing the wrong way on the onramp.  CHP is en route to the scene.

Amador County Friends of the Library holds book drive

     On Saturday August 22, 2015 and again on September 26, 2015 from 10 AM to 2 PM the Friends of the Amador County Library is accepting donations of gently read books.

   Please bring them to 42A Summit Street in Jackson, behind the old Courthouse on either day. Friends is a 501c3 nonprofit, so your donations are tax deductible.

Car vs. deer on Hwy 88

   August 8, 2015 at 10:15 AM:  A Subaru reportedly hit a deer on Hwy 88 near Inspiration Drive in Pioneer, resulting in damage.

   The dead deer is on the right and the Subaru has extensive damage on the roadway. CHP and a tow truck are en route to the scene.

Grass Fire in Mokelumne Hill

   UPDATE:  Cal Fire crew contained this fire almost immediately. It is not now a threat to homes in the area. Other engines have been cancelled.

   UPDATE:  No injuries occurred in this collision per CHP.

Load of hay dumped on Hwy 4

   August 10, 2015 at 7:45 AM:  A semi-truck hauling hay just lost half its load, approximately 30 bales at Hwy 4 and Tracy Boulevard in Stockton.

   Use extra caution if headed in that direction until a crew can clean up the roadway.

New fire in Lake County grows--Jerusalem Fire

  UPDATE:  Cal Fire just updated the acreage on this fire to 5000 acres.

Traffic collision outside Turlock

   August 10, 2015 at 7 AM:  A traffic collision with major injuries has been reported at Hwy 165 and Fowler Avenue between Turlock and Hilmar.

   The injured person and a windshield are in the middle of the roadway. An air ambulance and tow truck are en route.  Three CHP units are at the scene. Avoid the area if possible.

USFS firefighter struck by tree, dies
