Behind Bars and terrified, pups hug

   These two pups, hours away from death at an animal control facility in Georgia, were saved by a person who saw this photo on the rescue site.

    Unfortunately, there just aren't enough people willing to adopt a new pet into their home and many are euthanized across the county on a daily basis.  Adopt a dog or cat from your local shelter.

School bus collision in Manteca

   August 12, 2015 at 4 PM:  A school bus with children has collided with another vehicle at Sutter Street and Lincoln Avenue in Manteca.

   Some children were injured when they hit the back of the seats in front of them, but injuries appear to be minor.  Use extra caution if in that area.

Collision in Sonora

   August 12, 2015 at 3:45 PM:  A red truck and a grey Subaru have collided in the turn lance at Hwy 108 and Sanguinetti in Sonora.

   CHP, an ambulance and a tow truck are en route to the scene. The lane is blocked.

Traffic collision in Mokelumne Hill

   August 12, 2015 at 3:05 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 26 and Ponderosa Way in Mokelumne Hill.

   CHP and an ambulance are en route to the scene.  Be extra cautious if in that area.

Dog locked in car at Black Bart Playhouse

   August 12, 2015 at 1 PM:  A dog has been reported as locked in a car at the parking lot by the Black Bart Playhouse.

   The Murphys Fire department has been dispatched to try and save it.  What is wrong with people??

Big Rig runs off Hwy 4

   August 12, 2015 at 12:45 PM:  A big rig has run off Hwy 4 near Jack Tone Road below Farmington.

     Three CHP units have been assigned to this collision, and are en route to the scene.  A big rig tow is required.

Collision on Hwy 49

   August 12, 2015 at 12 Noon:  CHP is at the scene of a traffic collision on Hwy 49 not far from Copello Drive in Angels Camp.

   No injuries have been reported. Use extra caution until CHP can clear the roadway.

Pauline Laurie Timeus of Valley Springs

   Pauline Laurie Timeus, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away on June 29, 2015.

Fire in Turlock

   A grass fire has been reported on Hwy 99 at Bradbury Road in Turlock.  Cal Fire is responding to the scene.

   Use caution in the area, as smoke may be across the roadway.

Traffic Collision in Soulsbyville

   August 12, 2015 at 12 Noon:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 108 and Draper Mine Road in Soulsbyville.

    Three vehicles were involved and one fled the scene. An ambulance is en route.

Two kittens on Hwy 99

   August 12, 2015 at 10:55 AM: A driver just reported to CHP that two kittens are in the center divide of northbound Hwy 99 and Whitmore Ave. in Turlock.

   Is it possible someone just dumped them on the freeway.  How many depraved people who can harm animals are there these days?  Too many!! CHP is en route to the area. Be careful!

Livermore Police car hit by barrel

   August 12, 2015 at 10:50 AM:  A Livermore Police unit just reported to CHP that the car was hit by a barrel that came off of another truck at Hwy 59 and Sandy Mush Road in Merced.

  No injuries were reported, but the officer probably had to go home and change their pants.

Fire reported in Oakdale

   August 12, 2015 at 10:40 AM:  A fire has been reported by a resident on Orange Blossom in Oakdale.

   The fire is apparently in the back yard. Cal Fire is responding to the location.

Burglary in Hathaway Pines

      A burglary was reported to the Calaveras Sheriff on Commercial Way in Hathaway Pines on August 11, 2015.

    No report was taken at the time by the Sheriff's Office.

Pumping water from creek ok?

  On August 11, 2015 a resident on Barney Way in West Point reported a Well Drilling company truck down at the creek pumping water into the truck.

   The Calaveras Sheriff recommended called Fish and Wildlife, but what about the water companies. Who is in control of the creeks and can anyone pump out of them anytime?  We will ask around?

Angels Camp man arrested

   On August 11, 2015 the Angels Camp Police Department arrested Mark Fleming (51) of Angels Camp on Main Street for alleged Robbery and Inflicting Corporal injury on a Spouse, both felonies.

   Fleming was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

Dead calf reported in Escalon

   August 12, 2015 at 9 AM:  A caller reported that there is a dead calf on Yosemite Avenue in Escalon near Kibby.

   CHP is en route to the scene. Use extra caution if in that area.

Mad River Complex Fires update

   As of this morning August 12, 2015 the USFS reports that

Jerusalem Fire grows- Investigation continues

   August 12, 2015 at 8:30 AM:  Per Cal Fire the Jerusalem Fire in Lake and now Napa County is 16,500 acres and is only 6% contained this morning. The cause is still under investigation.

    Due to heavy vegetation and the lack of improved roads, firefighting is difficult in that area. 18 helicopters and 4 air tankers are assisting on this fire today. Mandatory evacuations are continuing in the entire area.

Animal Shelter after dog in Twain Harte

   August 12, 2015 at 8:45 AM:  A person from the shelter in Jamestown is trying to capture the loose dog on Middle Camp Road and Lark Drive in Twain Harte.

   Use extra caution in that area.

Ladder on northbound Hwy 99

   August 12, 2015 at 6:55 AM:  A ladder has been reported in the northbound lanes of Hwy 99 near Jack Tone Road in Ripon.

   Use extra caution until Caltrans can get out there and remove it.

Toyota runs off Hwy 12

   August 12, 2015 at 6:30 AM:  Two CHP units are at the scene of a grey Toyota that ran off Hwy 12 near Central Hill Road outside of San Andreas.

   An ambulance and tow truck with long cable have been dispatched to the location. Use extra caution if in that area as emergency crews are working.


Dead deer at PIne Mountain Lake entrance

   August 12, 2015 at 6:15 AM:  A dead deer has been reported on the roadway at Ferretti and Hwy 120, the entrance to Pine Mountain Lake in Tuolumne County.

   Use extra caution if in that area until it can be moved.
