Mayor of Angels Camp! "Spend, spend, spend!!" $ 12 million budget???

   Hard to believe, but the City of Angels Camp has a budget of over $12 million for the coming fiscal years.  WHY????

Traffic Collision in Ripon

   August 24, 2015 at 6:20 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 99 and Jack Tone Road in Ripon between a green van and a white Toyota.

   An ambulance is responding to the scene. Also one of the families is already on scene and taking charge of their vehicle. A tow truck is en route for the other vehicle.

   UPDATE:  CHP reports the vehicle has left the scene. Cancel tow truck and ambulance.

Tow truck in Ceres collision

   August 24, 2015 at 6:15 PM:  A black tow truck has reportedly collided with a gray Cadillac at Herndon Road and Joyce Avenue in Ceres.

   No injuries have been reported. Be careful if in the area.

Traffic collision just off Hwy 49

   August 24, 2015 at 6:10 PM:  A car ran off Mt. Bullion Cutoff Road & Road 72A in Mariposa, just off Hwy 49.

     CHP is at the scene.  The car overturned but is now on its wheels and there are no injuries. A long tow chain will be required to pull the car back onto the roadway.

Injured deer on Hwy 4

   August 24, 2015 at 3:20 PM:  An injured deer has been reported at Hwy 4 and Beatrice Avenue, above Camp Connell.

   CHP is en route. Use extra caution if in that area. They most likely did not have $10 deer whistles on their front bumpers.

"Jumper" on Patterson overpass?

   August 24, 2015 at 2:30 PM:  A caller has reported that a  "jumper "appears to be on the overpass at Hwy 132 and Hwy 33. No vehicle is in the area.

   San Joaquin County Sheriff is en route to the scene. Use extra caution if headed that way.

Motorcycle and Tuolumne Sheriff collide

    UPDATE at 1:20 PM:  A 2nd report was made of this incident at Pine and Tuolumne streets in Tuolumne.  This one says the deputy was not injured, but the motorcycle

DOW plunges after China crash

  August 24, 2015:  If you think the world is not fully connected financially, you can certainly see it today, as the DOW Jones average plunged nearly 600 points.  At the open, it was nearer 1000 down.

   Shanghai was sharply down and considered to have crashed as China suffers from economic slowdowns.  CNBC analysts were notably nervous.

Injured deer on Red Corral Road

   August 24, 2015 at 11 AM:  A caller reported that a white SUV struck and injured a deer and then continued on towards West Point at Red Corral Road and Hwy 88.

   CHP is responding to the call. Use extra caution if in that area.

Barn Fire in Tuttletown

     UPDATE at 11:40 AM:  Units are being released from what is being called the Fraguero Incident, so the fire must be contained now.

Calaveras County Fair changing Junior Livestock rules-Auction??

   The Calaveras County Fair is holding a meeting of the Junior Livestock committee to discuss and offer possible rule changes for the 2016 county fair.

Grinder causes fire in Knights Ferry

      On August 22, 2015 around 6:15 PM Cal Fire responded to a reported fire on Shell Road in Knights Ferry.

   Several Cal Fire air and ground units were dispatched to the fire, which burned 3 acres and destroyed a generator. A grinder was the reported cause of the fire.

  

Small dog with purple coller on Hwy 4

   August 24, 2015 at 10:15 AM:  A small black and white dog with a purple collar has been reported on Hwy 4, the crosstown freeway.

   Be extra cautious until someone can get out there to rescue the dog.

Caltrans working on Hwy 88-- Caution!

   Beginning tomorrow August 25, 2015 Caltrans will be working to remove dirt and debris from Hwy 88 around Buckhorn Ridge.

   They ask that drivers use extra caution through this area through Friday from 6 AM to 5 PM while this work is ongoing.
  

Traffic collision in Strawberry

   August 24, 2015 at 9 AM:  CHP is just now getting Hwy 108 cleared at Beardsley Reservoir Road in Strawberry, after a solo vehicle crash.

   No injuries were reported, but the vehicle was totaled. A tow truck is responding to the scene.

Amador County raises Trash pickup rates

   Amador County Board of Supervisors is likely to approve a rate increase both for residential and commercial trash pickup in the county at their Tuesday August 25, 2015 meeting.

Teen dies at Lake Tahoe

   A 15 year old boy was pulled from Lake Tahoe over the weekend by several people who then administered CPR.

   The boy, however, could not be revived. His name has not been released.

   UPDATE:  An ambulance has been requested due to injuries in this collision.

Rough Fire nears 50,000 acres

   As of August 24, 2015 at 6:31 AM the Rough Fire has been updated by the USFS to nearly 50,000 acres and is only 17% contained. This fire is near Hume Lake in the Sierra National Forest.

   The missing hiker, a woman from Folsom, has still not been located. This fire was caused by lightning.
