More structures destroyed in Butte Fire

September 12, 2015 at 11:20 AM:  Unfortunately, the number of structures destroyed in the Butte Fire so far has grown to 15.

It doesn't specify homes or outbuildings. We understand there was some trouble with backfiring, that threatened homes unintentionally yesterday.

Fire break started in Ebbetts Pass, parallel to Hwy 4

September 12, 2015 at 10:50 AM:  We understand that a new fire break is being created parallel to Hwy 4 all the way down the Ebbetts Pass Corridor. We saw three giant bulldozers headed that way.

Hopefully this time it will hold. Cal Fire has been unable to hold prior fire breaks due to the forward spotting caused by flying embers.  This one will be wider! We wish them luck!

Railroad Flat and Ridge Roads now passable for FIRE crews

Trees and large debris has been cleared from Railroad Flat Road and Ridge Road so that fire crews battling the Butte Fire can safely access the fire and have escape routes.

There is still debris on all roads.  Jesus Maria road is still completely blocked. The public is still not permitted on these roads, only fire crews.

Mountain Ranch Road cleared of pole

September 12, 2015 at 11:10 AM:  The pole that fell on Mountain Ranch Road earlier this morning has been removed.

The roadway, per CHP is still covered with debris, but is passable for fire crews.  Not open for the public; only the fire personnel.

Angels Camp EVACUATIONS still in effect

Due to the Butte Fire, the Angels Camp Police Department has issued MANDATORY EVACUATION orders for:

Murphys Grade Road, Gardner Lane, Holly Street, Casey Street, Easy Street, Kirby Street Country Lane, Elderberry Lane, Dogtown Road, Clifton road, Brunner Hill--ALL areas on the east side of North Main Street (Hwy 49) in the City limits of Angels Camp.

Fricot City Road blocked!! Stay off the road!

CHP is headed for Fricot City Road, where fire engines are attempting to stage to stop, or at least slow down, the Butte Fire before it reaches Angels Camp and Murphys.

Stay off the roadways, please. The fire engine crews cannot do their job if lookeeloos are blocking their access.

Some Good News! Fire Engines and Bulldozers from EVERYWHERE!

September 12, 2015 at 9:45 AM: It's about time we who are living in the Butte Fire, now often referred to as the new "Rim" Fire, got some good news.

We have heard from various parts of the county that fire engines, work crews and bulldozers are arriving in Calaveras County finally to help our firefighters.

Mountain Ranch badly damaged in Butte Fire

We have been unable to confirm rumors we've heard about the devastation the Butte Fire has had in the town of Mountain Ranch.

We have been told that major businesses along the main roadway have been damaged or destroyed. If you have any knowledge, please let us know.

Pole falls on Mountain Ranch Road--fire trucks blocked in Butte Firefight!

CHP just reported that a large power pole with fiber optic lines has fallen across Mountain Ranch Road, blocking fire trucks from accessing the Mountain Ranch area in the Butte Fire.

We aren't sure who is responsible for removing these poles during a fire; perhaps PG&E. Also, a tree has fallen on Pennsylvania Gulch Road, blocking exits for residents in that area.

Butte Fire increases containment to 10%?

As of 7:15 AM on September 12, 2015 Cal Fire has increased the containment numbers of the Butte Fire to 10% and are stating the 65,000 acres has not increased overnight.

We have a feeling this is not an accurate number, due to the fire growing towards Fricot City. There is talk of less people being on the lines this morning; NOT A GOOD SIGN!!!

Cal Fire has less resources today...than yesterday

September 12, 2015 at 7:45 AM:  According to one Cal Fire employee resources to battle the Butte Fire will be less today than yesterday.

Now that the fire is 100 square miles in size, you would think the resources would be doubled.

Murphys NOT evacuated? Forest Meadows NOT evacuated??

Who is making the political decisions for Calaveras County in the Butte Fire??  People on Hwy 4 above Forest Meadows and on Murphys Grade Road were rousted out of bed by men calling themselves Stockton Police, but Murphys and Forest Meadows were not even put on evacuation orders.

Also, people are asking why residents on Hwy 4 are forcibly evacuated while the Butte Fire in in Mountain Ranch and Fricot City, but not any of the back streets closer to the fire lines. We will be asking whose questions today. And this has become very political in nature.

Supervisor Edson ordered NO evacuations of San Andreas? More politics!

We heard during the night that when Supervisor Edson (better known as Edsel) got the press release from the Sheriff for mandatory evacuations of San Andreas due to the Butte Fire, he started calling, complaining NOT to force San Andreas (his district) into mandatory evacuations.

After all, his restaurant would have to be closed, wouldn't it?  To top this all off they were evacuating San Andreas residents to across Hwy 49 to the old tinderbox Town Hall. Now that's a joke.

Butte Fire near Fricot City area

We have been told that the Butte fire has jumped the roadway and is approaching the Fricot City area, where there are many homes.  Avery Sheep Ranch Road is blocked in that area.

We have not heard any specific evacuation orders for Fricot City but it may be part of the San Andreas evacuations.

Mountain Ranch burning, Sheep Ranch next!

September 12, 2015 at 1:30 AM:  The Butte Fire is now burning in Mountain Ranch, has crossed Railroad Flat Road and is blocking Sheep Ranch Road.

Politics has come into play (or maybe it always was) regarding the Butte Fire and Calaveras County. Certain places get resources, regardless of what happens, and others do not.

Glencoe, Wilseyville and West Point EVACUATED due to Butte Fire!!

September 12, 2015 at 1 AM:  According to Cal Fire, West Point, Wilseyville and Glencoe have been placed under mandatory evacuation orders due to the Butte Fire.

Hwy 26 has been closed at Mokelumne Hill and at the Amador County line, so there is no access to those areas. In addition, Sheep Ranch Road has been closed and Mountain Ranch Road is closed from the other side.

Pickup vs power pole in Linden

September 12 2015 at 1:35 AM:  A Dodge Ram pickup has hit a power pole in Linden at Hwy 26 and Escalon Bellota Road.

The pole is resting on the vehicle. An ambulance, CHP and tow truck are responding to the scene.

Sheep Ranch and Mountain Ranch Road engulfed?

September 12, 2015 at 12:45 AM: The Butte Fire:  CHP has pulled back from Mountain Ranch Road and Sheep Ranch Road due to the area being engulfed in flames.

Since Rite of Passage says they deserve a bulldozer

Staging at Rite of Passage--Bulldozer taken from Sheep Ranch for them! More Politics!!

The Rite of Passage has taken the bulldozer that was supposed to help at Sheep Ranch, to come to Fricot City to protect THEM!

Rite of Passage is the criminal school

The truth about the Stockton Police Department- hired by Sheriff Kuntz--BIG MONEY!!

September 12, 2015 at  12:30 AM:    It seems it isn't enough that the Stockton Police Department cannot handle the crime in their own city; they have been hired by Sheriff Kuntz to come to Calaveras County, for which our Sheriff is making big money.

Sheriff Kuntz, it is well known, can't handle
