Postmistress Elva Lewis of Angels Camp

    Elva Diana Lewis died October 12, 2015 at Mark Twain Convalescent Hospital in San Andreas.

   Born in Tuolumne, she was a lifelong resident of Angels Camp and was the Postmistress

Big rig vs telephone pole in Ripon

  October 13, 2015 at 5:10 PM:  A big rig has hit a telephone pole at River Road and Wagner Avenue in Ripon.

   Emergency crews are en route to the scene. Seems some truck drivers are in too big a hurry to get home tonight.

Jerald Thomas McCrank of Angels Camp

   Jerald Thomas McCrank was born in Calaveras County on August 18, 1971 and passed away on September 24, 2015.

Big rig overturned in Tracy

   October 13, 2015 at 5:05 PM:  The bridge on Durham Ferry Road will be closed for awhile as a big rig has overturned near the Airport Road intersection in Tracy.

   All lanes are blocked, so use extra caution if headed that way.

Traffic collision on Hwy 88

   October 13, 2015 at 5 PM: A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 88 at Waterloo Road in Stockton between a black car and a red truck.

   An ambulance and two tow trucks are en route to the scene. Use extra caution if headed in that direction.

Donald Bruce Schmidt of San Andreas

   Donald Bruce Schmidt of San Andreas, was born on January 12, 1943 in Sacramento.  He passed away due to a car accident

Angels Camp City Council meeting cancelled

The evil frog must be
taking a week or two off.
   We were just notified that the Angels Camp City Council has cancelled their meeting scheduled for October 20, 2015 due to a lack of agenda items.

   We find this interesting, since 9 out of 10 of their meetings could be cancelled for that very reason, so why this one?

Burglary in Murphys

    On October 12, 2015 a burglary was reported by a resident on Indian Hills Road in Murphys.

   Many items were apparently taken. The Calaveras Sheriff took a report.

Five harass business in Arnold over lost purse

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff's office they were called on October 12, 2015 by a store owner on Hwy 4 in Arnold after a group of 5 came in and began harassing employees.

   They stated a purse had been left in the bathroom and they wanted cash that they said had been inside. The group apparently left when the owner called the Sheriff and were gone upon arrival of a deputy.

Threat with Intent to Terrorize arrest

   Per the Calaveras County Sheriff, on October 12, 2015 they arrested Mark David Whitely, (29) of Copperopolis, on Deerfield Circle in Copperopolis for allegedly Threatening a Crime with the Intent to Terrorize and Violation of Parole, both felonies.

   Whitely was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.  This man must not be a close personal friend of the Sheriff of Calaveras.

300 acre fire near Hollister

   Cal Fire is battling a 300 acre fire hear Hollister in San Benito County that was reported on October 12, 2015 at 4 PM.

   Named the Cienega Fire it is located near Cienega Road an Limekiln Road just south of Hollister.

Traffic Collision in Ione

   October 13, 2015 at 9:15 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Buena Vista Road at Hwy 124 in Ione.

   Emergency crews are en route to the scene.  No injuries have been indicated, but use caution if in the area.

Car vs tree in West Point

   October 13, 2015 at 8:45 AM:  A blue Audi sedan has reportedly hit a tree at Bald Mountain Road and Eganhoff Road in West Point.

   Be cautious if in the area as emergency crews arrive at the scene.

Not likely to be much fireworks tonight!

   The first debate for Democrats running for President in 2016 will be held tonight beginning at 5:30 PM from Las Vegas by CNN.

  The only chance for a good laugh or any fireworks at all is if Joe Biden should show up unexpectedly (they are holding a podium for him).  He could then say something spectacular like last year when he insisted the President had a really BIG STICK!

Dog hit on Hwy 99 and Hwy 26

   October 13, 2015 at 8:10 AM:  Two dogs were reported running in the roadway at Hwy 99 and Hwy 26 in Stockton, and now one has been hit by a vehicle.

   CHP is en route. Use extra caution if in that area.
