Want a Chimpanzee?

   If you want to own a Chimpanzee or other exotic animal, move to Missouri.

   It takes more paperwork to buy a car in Missouri than to purchase a chimpanzee.

Hawaii has more homeless

   The state of Hawaii has now more homeless people per capita than any other state in the union.

   Because of that fact, the Governor of Hawaii has declared a state of emergency to deal with the problem.

    !.  Sell your car.  You can always rent a car for the few occasions (e.g. a trip to the desert) where a car is needed.

   A very interesting thing happened at CCWD's meeting on October 14, 2015.

   For the first time ever, three young women were paraded into the Board meeting (with customers put on hold during the time), in order to praise them for their devoted service.

Vehicle runs off Hwy 4

   October 17, 2015 at 12:05 PM:  A vehicle reportedly ran off Hwy 4 at Pool Station Road.

   No injuries were indicated. A tow truck has been dispatched to the scene. Use extra caution if in the area.

Traffic collision in Ione

   October 17, 2015 at 11:25 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Camanche Parkway and Buena Vista Road in Ione.

   No injuries have been indicated. One car ran off the roadway. A tow truck has been dispatched.

Last guided sunset hike on Rim Trail for 2015

   The Arnold Rim Trail will have the last 2015 scheduled guided sunset hike to Cougar Rock on Sunday, October 25, 2015.

   Parking will be on Valley View Drive. The hike starts promptly at 4:45 PM. Any questions, call Captain Dave at 795-5931.

Cows out in Martell

   October 17, 2015 at 11:15 AM:  Four cows are reportedly out on Hwy 88 at Wicklow in the Martell area.

   The ranch gate appears to have been left open. CHP is en route to the area. Be extra careful.

Pine tree down on Hwy 88

   October 17, 2015 at 11:15 AM:  A pine tree has fallen on Hwy 88 at Clinton Road in Jackson.

   Use extra caution if in that area until a crew can clear it out of the way.

Mud and water on Arnold roadway

   October 17, 2015 at 11:10 AM:  Calaveras County Roads department has been notified that mud and water are running across Meadow Drive in Arnold.

   Use extra caution if headed in that direction until it can be cleared.

"Artist in the Woods" in Stanislaus National Forest

   The public is invited to attend the Stanislaus National Forest "Artist in the Woods" 2015 interactive art workshop on October 24, 2015.

   It will be held from 9 AM to 3:30 PM at the Summit Ranger District

Murphys UPUD meets

   The Union Public Utility District in Murphys (water) will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday October 21, 2015 at 7 PM.

   The meeting will be held at 339 Main Street in Mruphys.  Dennis Mills is on the agenda to promote the County

Can the government " keep you OFF your own land"???

   There was a lengthy, and not very friendly, discussion during the Calaveras Supervisors meeting on October 13, 2015 about the hope for recovery (or not) after the devastation of the Butte Fire.

Governor Brown moving into the old mansion

Electrical and plumbing
upgrades are among the
renovations necessary.
   The historic 1800's mansion where Governor Browns father lived while he was governor, will become the new home of Governor Jerry Brown, his wife and two dogs Sutter and Colusa.

   Renovations are underway and the couple plans to move from the loft where they now stay and into the mansion by the end of the year.

Calaveras Supervisors going back to weekly meetings! Shame on Edson!!

   Finally, after at least two years of not wanting to see the public or listen to their complaints, the Calaveras Supervisors have agreed (minus Debbie Ponte) to go back to weekly meetings.

Mud, dirt and rock on Jesus Maria Road

   October 17, 2015 at 9:15 AM: Mud, dirt and rock has been reported on Hwy 26 and Jesus Maria Road.

   Stay out of the area! Go to higher ground immediately. Do not try to drive through the slide.

Motorhome slides 200' off roadway in Burson

   October 17, 2015 at 8:45 AM:  A motorhome reportedly slid off Wade Lane in Burson and 200' down the embankment into an oak tree due to the rain.

   CHP and a tow truck are en route to the scene.

Flash Flood Warning

  October 17, 2015:  Both Calaveras and Amador Counties have been given an official Flash Flood Warning for this morning's heavy rain.  County road crews are responding to various areas.

   We hear it's now pouring in areas like Angels Camp and Murphys.  Be cautious while driving and stay out of the Butte Fire areas if possible, due to ash runoff possibility.

Animal hazard on Hwy 4

   October 17, 2015 at 7 AM: Some type of animal hazard has been reported on Hwy 4 at Milton Road just below Copperopolis.

   It isn't yet clear exactly what it is, so be extra careful in that area.

Drive Carefully!

   The welcome rain has made the roads slick, so be extra cautious driving.
