What is CCWD's Reach I Project?

   Questions have arisen concerning CCWD's Reach I Project to provide high pressure water from Ebbetts Pass and Hunter's Dam to help Angels Camp should the flume burn again.

   Why is CCWD spending ratepayer money to help Angels Camp? How will it help ratepayers in Ebbetts Pass? Who's money is being used for all of it? What has already been done?

Now we know why Kevin Johnson isn't running....

   The Phoenix Police Department has just released a lengthy recorded phone conversation between Kevin Johnson and a teenage girl supposedly about some type of encounter that the girl considered sexual.

   Now we know why he did not want to run for re-election. He must have known this was going to come out. Go listen to it if you get a chance.

Burning now allowed -- With permits!

  Cal Fire has lifted the burn suspension in Calaveras and Tuolumne counties. Those with valid permits may now burn their yard waste.

Only 8 allowed in tonight's GOP debate

   With Mike Huckabee and Chris Christy dropped from the main stage, the FOX Business Channel will have only 8 GOP candidates on their stage in Milwaukee tonight, November 10, 2015.

   Not wanting the criticism that CNBC (a direct competitor) received, Maria Bartiromo, who used to work at CNBC, is one of the moderators.

French Laundry's wine found

   After nearly a year, the $300,000 worth of wine that was stolen from the French Laundry in Napa on Christmas last year, has been found.

   The 76 bottles of mostly rare French wine, was located in a private cellar in North Carolina.

Rollover collision on Hwy 4

  UPDATE:  Calaveras County Roads has been advised that the Rock Creek Bridge is damaged due to this collision.

New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint dies

   After a concert in Madrid last night, R & B and New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint died of a heart attack.

  A piano player at heart, he wrote "Southern Nights", "Working in a Coal Mine", "Java" and "Fortune Teller" among many others.

Tree fell on Hwy 12 in Valley Springs

   November 10, 2015 at 9:40 AM:  A tree has fallen in the westbound lane of Hwy 12 at Pettinger Road below Valley Springs.

   Caltrans is responding to the scene to remove it. Meanwhile, use extra caution in the area.

Annual InFocus Photography Competition

   The 29th Annual InFocus Photography Competition and Exhibition will begin accepting entries on December 4, 2015 and through January 29, 2016.

Burglaries in Calaveras County

   On November 8, 2015 a resident on Hwy 4 at Shirley Drive in Copperopolis reported that their vehicle, which had been parked at the Vista on Hwy 4 was broken into

Seneca White Deer may disappear

Amazing! White deer!
   At the Seneca Army Depot in New York state lives the only known herd of white deer in the US, the Seneca White Deer.

   Only about 300 of the rare deer now exist. The government is putting the land up for sale to developers, so the beautiful creatures may become extinct.

Shotgun fired from vehicle??

   On November 9, 2015 a resident on Reeds Turnpike in Copperopolis reported that a vehicle had just driven by and fired what sounded like a high caliber shot gun.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took no report on the incident.

Enchanted Teddy Bear Tea at Frogtown

   We were just notified that the Enchanted Teddy Bear Tea will be held at Frogtown this year on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 1 PM to 4 PM in Mark Twain Hall.

   Tickets are $27.00 for adults and children over 10; children 9 and under are $15.00. Reservations are required and may be obtained by calling 753-9700.

   November 10, 2015 at 7 AM:  Chains are required on Hwy 4 above Arnold this morning.

   Drive carefully if headed up the mountain. Ebbetts Pass is closed.
