The Copper Run benefit

    On January 23, 2016, the 24th Annual Copper Run will be held at Black Creek Center located on Black Creek Drive in Copperopolis.

   The run begins at 9 AM. It will benefit Copperopolis Elementary School, Copperopolis Volunteer Firemans Association, and Friends of the Library. and will be held rain or shine.

Cow out in Jenny Lind

   December 12, 2015 at 1:45 PM:  A cow has been reported out loose at Shelton Road and Hwy 26.

   Be extra cautious until CHP can find the owner and get it back in the pasture.

Burglary in Valley Springs

   On December 11, 2015 a resident on Daphne Street in Valley Springs reported to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office that someone had broken into the house.

    The Sheriff took a report of the burglary.

Disturbance over towing vehicle

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office was called when a tow truck driver and a vehicle owner got into a verbal dispute over cost of tow services on St. Charles Street in San Andreas.

   No report was taken on the incident.

Burglary in Arnold

   On December 11, 2015 a resident on Wawona Way in Arnold reported a break-in and theft to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office.

    A deputy took the report of the burglary.

New SCAM involving Law Enforcement--Beware!

   On December 11, 2015 a resident on Fairway in Arnold reported to the Calaveras Sheriff that someone is calling people, telling them there is a pending legal action against them.

   The number on caller ID is apparently an actual Calaveras County number, but they give another number to call back and give money to stop the action. 

Runaway sleeping in Post Office

   On December 11, 2015 a juvenile was reported to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office for sleeping in the lobby of the Post Office on Hwy 12 in Valley Springs.

   It was determined that he was a runaway and was returned to his family.

Mountain Ranch man arrested

   On December 11, 2015 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Robert Joseph Simi (21) of Mountain Ranch, on Main Street in San Andreas.

    Simi was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, a felony, and for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Controlled Substance Paraphernalia and Driving without a License, misdemeanors, along with Failure to Pay Registration Fees, an infraction.

Three arrested for Burglary in San Andreas

   On December 11, 2015, after a burglary in progress was reported on Market Street in San Andreas, Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested

Car stuck in snow on Mormon Emigrant Trail

   December 12, 2015 at 9:15 AM:  A driver who says he didn't see the Closed sign, accessed Mormon Emigrant Trail from Sly Park and is now stuck, just off Hwy 88.

   A tow truck is being dispatched to the scene. At least his cell phone was working!!

Frank Sinatra's Birthday

   Frank Sinatra would turn 100 years old today. Over the years he sold at least 150 million records.

   Happy Birthday Mr. Sinatra!

Bear Valley gets a foot of new snow!

Now that's the way Bear Valley is supposed to look!
   Looks like Bear Valley will have a good Christmas season this year. They received another foot of snow in the last storm.

  Today should see a large crowd at the ski resort. The weather is beautiful, but tomorrow another storm is headed our way.

Major injuries in Escalon Collision

   December 12, 2015 at 9 AM:  A collision at Lone Tree Road and Brennan Road in Escalon has resulted in major injuries.

   CHP is at the scene. A tow truck is en route. Use caution in that area.

Collision in Double Springs

   December 12, 2015 at 8:30 AM:  A traffic collision was reported on Double Springs Road near Hwy 26 in Double Springs.

   A silver Chevy Explorer ran off the roadway and overturned.  One person has been taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with injuries.
